Actually, the Traxstech's come with a safety strap integrated into the cap on the holder. We had a planer board tow line grab a guide on our lowest rod when we were brown trout fishing one year and it pulled the rod right out of the holder and we lost it in the drink. Now we always strap in our low rods when we're BT fishing! Never had an issue with the low rods when we've been diver fishing though....always seems to be more than enough tension to keep the rods in the holders but I can see if one breaks where it might be an issue in that low holder.
These are SOLD.
We're upgrading to some Cannon Mag 20 DT/HS riggers, so our season and a half old Cannon Mag 10 HS riggers need to go. These are the new high-speed (250fpm) riggers and will come with the stock rod holders, extendable booms, full power cords, and swivel bases. There are three riggers for sale. One rigger is already spooled with coated cable so it's already ready for your Depth Raider, Moor, or Cannon probe. The other two riggers have the standard Cannon rigger cable on them. These riggers were always covered when not in use and are in excellent condition. Local pick up in Ithaca, NY preferred. $400/ea.

Oh, that's awful news Paul. He was a great guy and his contributions to our fishery were invaluable. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Shirley and her family.
Nice looking stuff Rod. If you guys don't want to tie your own "fishtails" you can buy them directly from Sigg's Rigs: http://www.siggsrigs.com/clincher-flies.html
Looks a lot like the Penn Yan 255...should be a sweet boat, esp. with no wood in it! Glad to see Thompson making a comeback. Now if we can just get Penn Yan to come back!
On a down note, my sister lives in Holland, MI which is where Tiara is headquartered and she just read in the paper yesterday that they're laying off 300 people. She also said that they hope to re-hire them in 30 days. Time will tell.....
Sean,
I would guess that they should work with whatever swivel base you have since the bolt pattern on the rigger base is standard. You might have to mess around to figure out which length bolts you'll need to mount them. On my Cannon swivel bases it takes four 3" 1/4-20 bolts.
I like the unlimited positions that the Cisco's can be put in and I've seen them on YT's boat and they're a nice holder. That being said, we run Traxstech holders and love them:
Another one to consider is the new Cannon holder. It'll fit right into a Bert's or Traxstech track and it ratchets like the Bert's but the tip is replaceable should it wear out.
We have the new Cannon rigger mounted holders for the boat this year and they've a highly adjustable holder and are built like a tank. They're based off of their track mounted holders and I think they're definitely worth looking into.
There's lot of options out there and they'll all work well for you.
Duan,
You mean I should tell Tom Allen to keep that 2,000' copper I just ordered? I was SO looking forward to fishing 450' down! LOL!! Not to worry, we have a 400' and a 300' copper rig that we're looking forward to using a LOT more than our 600' this year! Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to meeting you and all the others down there.
The problem with most linecounter reels is that they're not big enough to hold enough copper to make them of any use. Shimano has just introduced a Tekota 800 linecounter and you should be able to get 400' of copper and backing on that. That's about the biggest linecounter reel out there as far as I know. Most of us are running the Penn 345 GTi for our 500' and 600' coppers and there's no linecounter on that beast.
Not sure if this has been posted here before or not, but I thought you guys might find it informative as you make decisions about which chips to buy for your GPS units. There's some pretty cool stuff available today!

Scott,
It might not be your wire. Last year was a down year for most all of us on the East end. It's hard to get the wires to fire when there aren't many fish around. Let's hope 2009 is a better year for all of us. I wouldn't stress over your wire's lack of success last year just yet.
"Magic Man",
Next year during the Sodus Pro-Am, you go right ahead and troll that blue glo bug for browns....yeah, that's the ticket, I swear! Ray's right...400' of copper, big paddle....yup, definitely!
Here's our setup Tank. Wish I had a better pic for you than this.
The planer reel is attached to a grab rail on the back of the hardtop. There's a Big Jon pulley attached to the teak trim on the front of the hardtop. Just make sure you use big enough screws when you mount the pulley....there's an awful lot of tension on those tow lines sometimes!
