SOLD SOLD Cannon Mag 10's
Billy V replied to Billy V's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
ttt...still one remaining. -
Check with Jim at BOE and ask him about the Raymarine ST6002. I just bought one to replace my old Raytheon AP. http://www.byownerelectronics.com/store ... 368&page=1 Simrad also makes a good AP, and I think you'll find that there are plenty of guys here that are happy with both their Raymarine's and their Simrad's.

Nice stuff Matt!! Just what I need...ANOTHER box full of flashers!

I used the Berkley Pro Fluoro in 10lb for brown trout leaders, and 20lb for salmon spoon leaders and it held up great. I've used 30Lb P-Line Floroclear for my dipsy leaders for several years now and it's been great...it's a floro/mono blend so it has some stretch to it. I've been tying my flys up with 50# Ande for a long time and it's been good too, although I have a spool of 50# Seaguar sitting at home that I got at a tourney last year and I'll prolly tie a bunch of fly leaders up with it and see if I like it as much as the Ande I've been using.

I use it for leaders Shawn.

6575 first time through.... How come there are so many deer in the NY section??? Shouldn't that have been IL, or IA, or KS???
-
If you're looking for something different, give the Berkley Professional Fluorocarbon a try. We ran it last year and really liked it. It's significantly better than that Vanish junk that they make, and I'd say it stacks up favorably against Seaguar. Here's a link to a full review of it: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewtrilenefc.html I just found that link and there appears to be all kinds of reviews on different kinds of line, etc.

Funny how it takes weeks to react to a drop in price but it'll jump up quick as all get out when there's even a hint that oil will sell higher!

GREAT link, thanks for sharing!

Humminbird has come out with a new XM Weather service that overlays weather data on your GPS. I wanted to share this with you guys because I think this is a great safety feature, especially for guys that don't have radar. I don't think this replaces radar, but it sure offers some nice features like rain, sleet, snow, wind, fog, precipitation intensity & lightning. This will definitely help us to keep a closer eye on the weather that's coming our way when we're out on the water, and anything we can do to be safer out there is a good thing in my book. Other manufacturers like Furuno, Raymarine, Gamin, etc. have their own version of this too and their pricing varies. Definitely something worth looking into no matter which GPS you have. Here are the Humminbird specs: $249.99 MSRP $14.99 Activation fee $9.95/Month XM subscription fee Compatible with the following units: 785c2 786c 787c2 788c 797c2 798c 917 955 957 967 997 1155 1157 1197 AS WX 1 Satellite Weather Receiver Factsheet Part # 407470-1 XM Satellite Receiver Key Features: • Flexible subscription plan means users pay only for the months they use the service • Utilizes Real-time, Dynamic data • XM subscription based service ($9.95 per month) • Easy to read, detailed graphical weather overlaid on the chart screen • Alerts user of atmospheric conditions including rain, sleet, snow, wind, fog precipitation intensity & lightning. • Continuous Image Update shows changing conditions for the most accurate inland weather details • Displays National Weather Service warnings • Fully gasketed waterproof design • Displays 3-day city weather forecasts for over 150 US cities • Canada data not included with weather services • US Inland weather coverage only (not for in-shore or off-shore use) Viewable Range: • 700 Series: 115 mile horizontal & vertical range 52,900 square miles of total weather coverage • 900 Series: 195 mile horizontal range, 138 mile vertical range 107,640 square miles of total weather coverage • 1100 Series: 469 mile horizontal range, 278 mile vertical range 521,528 square miles of total weather coverage

Salmon River Steelhead
Billy V replied to Billy V's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I think I snapped the two pics with the steam coming off the water just after we came through the wire hole....I honestly can't remember exactly where we were. It was definitely way upstream though. My fish came a ways downstream of that, and that shot of my Dad is well below the Pineville bridge. -
Dad & I got out with Andy Bliss from Chasin' Tail Adventures yesterday and tied into quite a few steelhead, with the highlight being this pig that I landed on a trout bead fished under a float: Here's a few other random pics from the trip: It was COLD, but we still had a great day. Andy sure knows the river and he put us on fish all day long. I'm looking forward to my next trip up there...sure is a great way to cure cabin fever!

Posting this for a friend. He has two Fish Hawk probes for sale. One is brand new and has never been used, the other is used but works great. I think you can pick these up for a very reasonable price as he just wants them gone. He's upgrading to the new Fish Hawk. Call Rich Peaslee at (607)731-7345 for details.

No question that they're not cheap, but they sure are gonna make my Cannons a whole lot more adjustable! Oh, and since my boat is in a barn, I probably will get up there at some point and install them and snap a few pics prior to the season!
-
Wow, amazing....looks like the same fish to me too. Great story, thanks for posting the pics!

Man I can't wait to get out on a calm day like that again!

I've finally figured out how to do some basic editing and put together some of the video clips that I've shared here before into a much nicer format. Hope you enjoy:

There was a big box sitting on my front porch the other day and the new Cannon downrigger mounted rod holders were in it. Merry Christmas to me!! These holders aren't on the Cannon website yet, but I'm told that they'll be readily available at most Cannon dealers soon after New Years. I finally had an opportunity to snap a few pictures of them to share with you today. My first impression of the holders is that they're built like a tank and are very easily adjusted to just about any position you could ever want. They're good looking and will match your Cannon downriggers prefectly; I can't wait to mount them on the boat. The ratchet looks like it's going to work extremely well; I definitely like that Cannon designed the tip of the ratchet to be replaceable should it ever wear out. The holder adjusts to 6 different positions with just a squeeze of the ratchet: The holder also pivots into 20 different positions by simply depressing the lever on the bottom of the holder and twisting the holder into the position that you want: Once I get them mounted on the boat I'll post some more pictures so you can see how they look under the riggers. I think they're gonna look sweet!

Chad, I can't believe that Jerry didn't make you edit out his top-secret steelhead spoon! What's next, a picture of Jerry's favorite Pro-Am brown trout spoons??? Sheesh!!

We need this stamp about as much as we need to continue funding the social programs in NYC! How about the friggin' govt. does the right thing for once and balances the budget by cutting back on those downstate handouts and by cutting back on internal government excesses? The only reason that he's proposing this stamp is to cover the huge budget cut he's planning for the DEC. In my eyes, this is not like the situation in PA whatsoever. Their money is going to help support a conservation program. Our proposed stamp does nothing but cover a massive budget cut so that we can continue to support those NYC social programs and keep the politicians living like they're accustomed to. Wake up people!! If we just sit here and accept these proposals and hope that our fishery will survive then we're all going to deserve every change that the man makes. We need to fight to preserve our way of life, not just sit back and willingly take what they shove down our throats. I've personally had enough. I'd recommend that all of you who feel like I do write to your Governor and your other representatives and let then know that you're tired of footing the bill for NYC. I've already written each of them and haven't gotten a response back from any of them. Balance the budget by cutting out those handouts and leave the gainfully employed people of upstate alone!
