John, I have my VHF and GPS antenna on the Starboard side and my stereo antenna on the Port side, and they all seem to work without problems.

Fat Nancy's has them too, but I'm told they're going quick!

Dave told me this morning that some of the Gander Mtn. stores in NY have picked them up. If you don't find them there, try www.xtackle.com. If they don't list them on their site, call them and ask for them. They're Dave's largest dealer and can get them to you ASAP.

4cs, Shade, OK, I just got off the phone with John from Northern King. Locally, B&E and Captain's Cove should have them. If they don't have them on the shelf, John said that they can get them to them within a day or so, so ASK them for them and they'll call in an order. On the web, try Capt. Gary's. John said he couldn't remember if they had ordered them or not, but they're one of NK's largest retailers and like the local shops if you ask them for them and they don't have them, they'll order some in. Hope this helps.

What a HOG!! NICE!!! -
Dave Storm, who makes the KA-BOOM Shiners that I've been using the past couple of seasons now makes a Goby pattern. It comes in 4 different colors and is available in his shallow and deep KA-BOOM's as well as the Winning Streak version. Here's a couple of pics: Grey Goby Green Goby

Actually, no...I've never hung it up on bottom before. Other messes....YES!

I tried John already this morning but he wasn't in yet. I hope to find out an answer for you today.

Clarke, Based on my experience, you'll see 22' of depth for every 100' let out when trolling a spoon at 2.2-2.4 mph down speed. When you go to a flasher/fly rig it'll change to about 20' per 100' let out. Speed up and it'll rise even more. Be careful with that much out if you're trolling in 120-150FOW....on the inside of a turn it'll drop significantly and you can hang that puppy up pretty easily on the bottom.

Rod, Glad you liked the park. I take my kids over there a lot during the summer to swim and we really like it too. I think it's one of the nicest parks on the entire lake. Give the fishing out of Fair Haven another chance though...this weather pattern has really put a hurtin' on most everyone so far this season. Typically at this time of year we're just beating on the browns...but then again it's typically rainy, windy and cold at this time of year!

Thanks Mark. I'm always fiddling with the site trying to keep it up to date. I think you discovered something that I didn't know about with that picture linking to my email though!

Pat, They're DEFINITELY making them...they're brand new for 2008. I'll call John tomorrow and find out where you can find them.

We ran 'em last year too...DEADLY!! GOOD STUFF!!

Glad to help Neil. The new Garmin BlueCharts are still very good, but they only work with Garmin units. Best of luck with searching. If you find a better price than Anchor Express let us know!
-
Neil, Yeah, as far as I know the 785 has that same arrow indicator. Like I said I have the 955C NVB but they tell me the only difference in the units is the screen size and the internal antenna. We also really like the different views that you can choose from on the screen. There are something like 7 or 8 different views that you can choose from. It's all totally customizable. The charts are Navionics Gold + (awesome for navigation) and Navionics HotMaps Premium (which is great for fishing the east end of Lake O). If you were to buy just the Gold + chip for Lake Ontario you'd be looking at close to $200. That unit comes with every Gold + and HotMaps Premium chart they offer. For what it's worth, you don't need a computer to load charts on most GPS units. They typically take a card that you just plug into the slot on the GPS.

Neil, The Humminbird we use has a very cool arrow feature that points in front of the vessel in the direction you're headed. We've had several comments in the past week or two about how nice the unit and that feature are. We really like it a lot....more than I expected we would! The 785c2i NVB that I showed you is going for $749 at BOE, but remember that it already comes pre-loaded with over $1700 worth of Navionics charts. The 785c2 (no charts) goes for $549. You can buy the 755 (no charts and a lower screen resolution) for $449. With both of those units you'd have to add a chip later. Actually, I was just surfing another site that I've bought stuff from, www.anchorexpress.com, and they have the 785c2i NVB for $687.99 and the other units are lower priced too. http://www.anchorexpress.com/product_de ... _406920-1V

I check 'em all too Ray, even yours! You gotta take it easy when skiing in the woods...those trees aren't very forgiving of mistakes!
-
NICE Ray!! Look forward to more pics from you this season.

I can't believe that this boat is still available at this price! If you're considering a 24' boat this season, this is a fantastic layout to fish from and you can't beat the price, although I've never seen this particular boat before. I wish I had the $$ cuz I'd buy it and use it as my Cayuga Lake/Niagara Bar/trailerable boat!!

PS II, It all depends on the traffic that your website gets. Build a nice website that people want to visit more than once and you'll be a step ahead of most guys out there. Chad Lapa (Blue Eye) can help you build a nice site. Check it out: http://www.lakeontariounited.com/LOU_CaptainsCorner.php There's a lot more to it than just building a site and waiting for the phone to ring though. I work hard on my site to keep it current and fresh.

Any pictures of that pig Stix? Awesome way to start the season! MODIS made it look like the best water was a few miles West of you guys. The Genny and the Niagara had nice plumes that stretched for miles. Everywhere else looked like we had in FH...clear in places, not so clear in others, but nothing great either.

Great browns YT! Any color in the water out that way?
