Even though the guys at the marina swear by the T-Wax (it's a liquid), I just never thought it shined or protected my gelcoat as long as I wanted it to. I think maybe I'll look into a high quality carnauba paste wax and see how that holds up. Thanks for the replies guys.

Black's for us too. I've tried just about everything else out there and in my opinion you just can't duplicate release tension with any other release as well as you can with a Black's. I've been running them forever and have never had one fail either.

I guess no one uses wax on their boats?

I've decided to wait on the Poli Glow until the new gelcoat has had a chance to fully cure, so we'll be buffing/waxing again this spring. What do you guys recommend as a high-quality wax to use on your fiberglass boat hulls? For years we've use Dolphinite T-Wax, but the bottle is empty.

Here's a couple of new shots. I stopped by on my way through town on Tuesday to find the boat covered with a foot of ice & snow. :( From what I could tell through the ice/snow, the gel coat now looks to match perfectly again.

Ditto the depressing part. Thanks to Longline for posting those notes.

1000' of 30# wire will fill that 47 completely with no need for backing. Just be sure to spool it on there TIGHT!

Billy V Sportfishing for Spring Brown Trout Seminar

Agreed that an 8 lb lead ball is perfectly fine for most BT fishing. But Sharks definitely have their days, especially when we've modified them. -

Billy V Sportfishing for Spring Brown Trout Seminar
Billy V replied to seasquirrel's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Hey thanks for coming Seasquirrel...It was nice to see you for the first time since High School! Glad you enjoyed the seminar. Maybe we can get out on the water together sometime. -
I got a call from the Watercraft Clinic yesterday telling me that my boat is already done! They snapped a quick picture of it for me and from what I can see I think it looks a whole lot better. The old yellowed areas on the topsides look like they now match the hull perfectly and the old sun-faded/cracked/peeling blue/red stripe has been replaced with new vinyl. I'll be up to look at it in the next few days and will post better pics of it then. But for now, this will have to do:

No, they don't epoxy those in. I believe that they use a marine sealant like Life Seal. It's probably best to check with someone like L&M who does these installations all the time since there'll be a big hole in the bottom of your boat and the last thing you want to do is use the wrong sealant.

Navionics Gold charts vs NauticPath Great Lakes Map
Billy V replied to Erbyjoe's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Hey Erin, I'm not sure if you've bought a new GPS yet, but you might want to look into the new Humminbird NVB series of GPS/Plotters. They come with a ton of Navionics Gold AND Hotmaps Premium charts pre-loaded on them. If you're still looking for a new GPS that might save you some $$. I've seen their 5" screen size NVB model for about $690 online. Here's a list of the charts that comes with the NVB models: HotMaps Regions Included: * HotMaps Premium North * HotMaps Premium South * HotMaps Premium East * HotMaps Premium West Gold Regions Included: East Great Lakes Northeast US and Canyons Mid Atantic US and Canyons Southeast US/Bahamosa Gulf of Mexico West Coast (Hawaii not included) South Alaska Northwest Alaska/Aleutains West Great Lakes Northern US Rivers Southern US Rivers I just ordered a 955c NVB for my boat. -
The "true" thru-hull that YT is taking about gives you an amazing picture. Because the transducer is mounted completely thru the hull on the bottom of the boat away from any prop wash or cavitation bubbles it operates flawlessly. With my old 667 thru hull I could pick up bait while I was up on plane, and with my new 585 with twice as much power I'm expecting an even better picture. I gotta admit that drilling a 2" hole in the bottom of my boat was a bit unnerving, so I hired Krenzer Marine to come install this new transducer and fairing block. It came out great.
-
So what you have is a Shoot-Thru Hull transducer on your bass boat YT?

I second the Cottage Inn in the Fair Haven area!! We also love to go to Gillis's for HUGE breakfasts when we get blown off the lake.

The previous owner of my boat had some gel coat work done on it to repair some hairline stress cracks on the bow of the boat several years ago. Unfortunately that gel coat turned yellow pretty badly this past summer and I just couldn't stand how ugly and mis-matched it was. So we sent the boat to the Watercraft Clinic in Red Creek to have those spots taken care of. As we were looking at the boat, it became clear that we needed to repair more than just those two spots to keep a uniform finish, so we're going to be getting a new gel coat on all the smooth surfaces from the bow pulpit all the way back to the hard top. Fortunately for me the hull of the boat is in fantastic condition so no work is needed there. I stopped in today on my way to Oswego to enroll in the TWIC program and snapped a few pics that I thought you guys might like to see. They'll spray gel coat tomorrow and we should have new looking topsides by the end of the week. I'll try to snap some pics of the finished product for you guys. I can't wait to see it when it's done....C'MON SPRING!!!

I saw some of the Great Lakes Planers stuff this past weekend when I was at Screwy Louies in Fair Haven. It looked like awful nice stuff to me! -
You won't have to worry about the fleas till the summer. In the spring we run 15# Big Game. In the summer we run 30# Big Game and it keeps the fleas off just fine. I ran FF for a couple of years down here on the Finger Lakes and didn't like it at all. It twists really badly and has a ton of memory plus because of its shape it sits weird on the reel. I'd save your $$ and go with something else.

Honestly, I think the decision is stressing him out!

Firing up the engines at 5am Headed out in the dark Another boat on its way out Setting up FISH ON!!! Success! COME ON SPRING!!!!

The drags on the Accudepth PLUS series are infinitely better than the original Accudepths. I have two of the ADP47LC's as wire reels on my boat and they're great. Definitely one of the best bargains in reels out there today in my opinion.

I honestly haven't run the Hab a lot the past couple of years...I'm a wicked spoon junkie and am always trying new colors! But it definitely sits at the top of my list.
-
The Habanero doesn't catch fish! Two spoons only....I really don't like this question...I don't like to be limited like this!! I answered differently on the other board but after looking through my pictures and giving it some more thought here's my latest answer: 1. NK Habanero 2. NK Glow Frog I really want to hear what Runnin Rebel, L&M, Yankee Troller, and Maniac have to say about this!
