  1. I have four Cabela's Quick Draw rod holders with the insert to adapt them to Cannon rod holders. OR you can add other bases available thru Cabelas to meet your needs. These rod holders retail for $25 apiece with the adapters. These are in great condition, operate as new, and have all parts. I'm asking $65 for all 4. They're a little dusty in the picture from sitting out in the garage. They'll clean up nicely and look like new. Local pickup only please or you pay the shipping costs. Email me at [email protected] if you're interested.

  2. I'm thinking about putting a large cooler (120-150 Qt) on the swim deck of my new boat, and was wondering what recommendations/experiences you guys have had with various manufacturers. I'd also like to know where you found your coolers.

I'm considering putting the boat name on the back of the cooler with a die-cut sticker/decal. So a I'm guessing that a smooth finish instead of a dimpled finish would be important too.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Aaron,

It sure feels like spring might finally beon its way what with all the sunshine we have here today!

    Here's what I would suggest:

    1. Hooks are not sharp when they come out of the box. There's a tiny microscopic nub on the end of each barb that's there as a result of the plating process. You'll need to file that off if you want your hooks to be as sharp as they possibly can be. I use a fine file. You can find hook-specific files at most tackle stores.

    2. Line recommendation is gonna depend on what you're fishing for. If it's browns, then go I'd light..10# or so. If you're chasing spring Kings, I'd say 17# is probably more like it. I have two different mono set-ups. I think I probably have 6 or so of each. One I keep spooled with 10# for brown trout fishing, and I leave that on all season long. The other I spool up with 17# in the spring, then up it to 30# when the fleas show up. That's my Kings set-up. Additionally, I have wire, leadcore, and copper setups that I can deploy when the situation warrants it.

    Hope this helps!

  4. I'm gonna respectfully disagree with some of you guys. I ran the sharks for a few weeks as a demo last fall and aside from the fact that they track beautifully, I found that they did work as an attactant. I had a couple of the chrome sharks and ran them against my own 12# weights. I had days when the only riggers that would go were the sharks. I loved how straight and true they tracked with very little blow back, but the fact that I had the same set-ups on my weights and couldn't get them to go while the skarks fired was enough to convince me. They definitely attract fish, and I'll be running them this year.

The way I see it, if all you want is a rigger weight to simply get your baits down to a specified depth, then go with what works for you. But, if you want a weight that tracks true with very little blow back, and can also serve as an attractant, then the Shark is the way to go.
