  1. 1000' will fit no problem as stated above, but if you want your counters to be accurate use backing and fill that spool up. It's easy to do if your're spooling up 2 wires on LC's. 1. Spool the wire up on a reel. 2. Add backing and fill the spool up. 3. Zero the LC on the empty reel. 4. Reel the full reel onto the empty reel and note what the LC says when all the backing is on the new reel.
  2. Wasn't us. We fished East both Saturday and Sunday. Bite up West of Rochester has been spotty at best.

  5. There's been a few on or around that 20 mark. Haven't heard of anything much bigger than 21 though.
  6. Those were 3 BRAND NEW Rapalas that had about 8 fish between all of them and now they are junk! Certain Smithwicks have similar issues with fish pulling the hook anchors out. My Storm Thunderstick Jr's are still solid baits. I've seen where the rats are made, and the one thing I noticed when I walked into the shop was a white board that had a saying on there referencing quality above all else. These aren't "secret weapons" or something that will put more fish in the boat for EVERYONE. However, they are hitting a niche in the market, and painting up some of our favorite colors we cant get anymore unless we pay a ridiculous amount on EBAY and various forums. Let's be honest.....look at Storm Thunderstick Jr's......he color selection has gotten terrible.
  7. BRO....you got THAT spoon to go!?!?!?!? That was HOT up west about 5 years ago. Bruce.....he covered you under the "captains" part.

  10. Pretty much! I told them I didn't want to Brown Trout fish Saturday afternoon when they told me that.
  11. When we stumbled upon them we weren't looking for them, but as the day went on and we dialed them in we saw them on the fish finder. Some suspended fish, but a lot laying on the bottom. Picture perfect to what we see and how we fish on Canada for the Spring tourney. Kings mixed in with Lakers. We had that stretch to ourselves with 3 other boats on Saturday that we called in on it. It was nice! Sunday there had to be 30 boats working that water. This is why we fish tourneys! You learn so much fishing different areas of the lake. It really makes you a better fisherman! We've only ever had 1 good event in April up in Canada, but we learn so much fishing skinny water Kings and it paid off this weekend.
  12. April 25th – Another weekend with clients from Maine. They came for some April Brown Trout action, but the brutal winds all week really put a lot of mud on the shoreline. After a half hour of trolling through mud Captain Craig pointed the boat out to deeper water where we found the green water outside of the mud in 25-40’ of water between ship builders and Webster park. The minute we hit that green water we doubled on Chinook “King†Salmon! We swung back around and doubled again! The rest of the day we dialed in a Salmon program in that mid water section that would grab us over 20 King bites! On top of that we hooked into and played with 20+ Lake Trout and Brown Trout. One of our BEST Spring days off Rochester! Once we dialed in our Salmon program it was very similar to one we use in skinny water during the Spring Scotty events in St. Catherine. On our Cannon Downriggers we ran spoons back 40-50’. Glow Mixed Veggies seemed to be our best spoon hands down! We ran our center rigger the deepest back 40’, and the corner riggers 5’ above it back 50’. Our wire divers were out 40-50’ on 3 settings. Glow mixed veggies and a Yellow Tail like custom spoon were going consistently on those. Over top of the wires we ran 2 slide divers 25’ lead and 60-80’ back on a 4 setting. Similar spoons on those. Off our Otter boats we ran deep and medium diving Reef Runners. Glow/Green and Barbie being the best color combos on those back 125’. For hours it was all we could do to keep rods in the water! What an amazing day and boy did they get spoiled on KINGS! April 26th – Well, the Maine peeps came for Brown Trout and that’s what they wanted to target, so we ignored the Salmon, and targeted the Browns for the day. It was a stellar day from Ship Builders to Hedges in 10’ of water. Firetiger sticks did work! Many fish, but the biggest we landed was 6lbs. 100’ back off the boards for the sticks, and 50’ back on our Cannon Downriggers with bright spoons.
  13. Salmon loaded in the ROC! Over 20 salmon hooked yesterday morning! Clients wanted BT this morning. It killed me! http://t.co/iAovGBipT4

  15. I wanted to wait until I spoke with Tom before I posted anything. I think what Steve and Richie did to this poor guy was uncalled for and unprofessional, and he deserves a sincere apology. Are you guys really hurting for recognition that bad you had to grab it on this thread? Lets get some facts straight here. Tom FB messaged me Friday evening asking me if I had ever gotten the Candy Corn Bay Rat to go, and I responded that I haven't but it looks like a really nice color for dirty water. Saturday morning as I was waiting for my clients from Maine, that were lost in Rochester, to show up I was scrolling through my Facebook timeline. On my timeline there was a picture of the Irondequoit piers and a sunrise that Tom posted. About an hour into my day, and only a couple of bites in clear water, I got a message from Tom that he got the Candy Corn Bay Rat to fire. My knowledge of the fishery told me he had colored water where he was and my brother and I picked and ran. If you really think the traffic on that shoreline came from Tom your crazy! If you think you guys had some “secret†spot your crazy! It's Saturday morning on the best stretch of BT water on the whole South shore. We didn't go there first thing because we had 20 bites up West the day before, and we wanted to avoid the traffic. Not to mention the West winds they were calling for made going West more enticing because of calmer waters. I’ve fished out of Rochester for about 30 years now. My father had my brother and I on this lake at the age of 5/6. It’s no secret where to go find colored water in the Spring. We fish in 3 ports throughout the season, and we have a lot of friends in all of them. That speaks volumes as far as I’m concerned, and I’m proud of that. I refuse to tarnish my name or my brothers. Lastly, What we made that day has no bearing on anything that happened, and we ALWAYS look good because we run a professional operation. We’ve built a part time charter business that’s bigger than a lot of full timers. We’ve done that with success and professionalism. Our tourney credentials are listed on our website. Not made up and vaguely mentioned like they are on yours. To be honest between my brother and I we fish almost every tourney on lake Ontario, and yet we’ve never seen you at any of them. However, on your website you have numerous money finishes in tournaments!?!?!? Come on!
  16. This is a beauty! It'll be hard for me to pass this up if it's still available when I'm back in Shumway come September! I stare at it on the way in and out of Shumway every day! Ever open her up and see what it's top end is? Also, are there 3 or 4 blade wheels?
  17. We run blacks for our releases. They are just easy! Fishing down to 125' 15lb A-TOM-MIK torpedos or sharks will work great. Below that you want to go to a 20lb shark.
  18. We run our SD's on 25lb mono with a 8/9' of Fluoro. I like the light bite, however, I only run them with spoons. We also only run them when fishing the top 30', or in 30' of water or less. I honestly have no clue of the dive curve on them unlike my wires. I usually start high and slide her back until she fires or i want to change the lure. If you watch the Salmon Showdown WHI episodes from 2014 we took a slide diver shot in the first video. We were fishing Salmon in 20' of water. It's a great presentation for that. I have seen guys run them on wire or braid. I have an idea of how to set it up, but I have never wanted to try. It's just another depth curve you have to learn.
