  1. Friday 7/18 – Returning for their 3rd consecutive year were the Miller boys. They were spoiled last year with a heck of a catch, but this year’s fishing has been slower than other years. The #1 excuse seems to be the harsh winter, and I have to buy in on that. Regardless, there is always something to catch! Fishing started off slow. But by the end of the day the guys narrowly missed a four man limit. At one point on this trip they would hook into a QUADRUPLE with 2 fish coming on one pole! Can’t say that has ever happened before! Our Cannon downriggers were parked from 35-80’ most of the day. Our wires were out 150-200, and we ran coppers out to 500’. Saturday 7/19 Morning – It was the third leg of the King of the Oak event, and the Miller boys were in tourney mode! We headed out around 5;30 am and went NW. We dropped in around the 26N line and worked the 27-30N lines 16-18W for most of the day. Bite was slow, but we managed to pick away at the jumbo Steelhead , and a few Salmon. Our Salmon came on a 500 Copper, and a wire diver out 175’. Both presentations were pulling Familiar Bite herring strips. We were able to land 2 of the 3 with the biggest being 18lbs. The rest of the day the Steelhead kept us busy. Dreamweaver Sea Sick Waddlers on a 55’ Cannon out and down, and a 200’ copper pulling a Lyman plug seemed to be the best for us. For the event we finished 4th out of 20 boats. We weighed two Salmon and a really nice Steelhead. Saturday 7/19 Afternoon – We had a nice couple from central Florida with us, and they wanted Salmon! The trip started off slow, and we took 2 or 3 shots in the first 3 hours. The last hour was magical! We put two nice Salmon in the box along with a nice Steelhead. We also dropped three other fish. Our hot rig of the night was the 200 copper pulling the Lyman plug. It took both big Salmon! Sunday 7/20 – This group from Pittsburgh fished with us in April chasing Brown Trout, and they were out the night before with a boat that is running a few trips for us. They experienced that last hour of mass confusion when the Salmon lit up! We headed NW out to the waypoints we’ve been working for a few days. The fish were there and they were on the feed! The catch consisted of mostly jumbo Steel, but there were a few Kings mixed in. The 200 copper was good for three fish pulling the Lyman plug. The Kings all came on our 55’ Cannon out and down pulling a gold gator with a gold 42 slider. The Frost bite was good on our 30-35’ Cannon as well. For an hour our divers got hot out 125’ on a 2 setting pulling a Salmon Viagra Stingray. 26/27N and 16/18W seemed to be best with a NW/SE troll.
  2. Should have one for sale after this season if you don;t mind waiting another couple months.
  3. Both are great spoons. Both have their uses. If we're chasing steel I tend to like the SS's. When we're fishing BT I tend to like the Stingers. I've found in the Spring when fishing BT that the SS's will ski on the surface when run with a long lead and only put down 3-6'. The Stingers wont do that. On the flip side the SS's have great durability, but my Stingers lose paint much easier. There are technical reasons they do this that I wont get into, but there is my opinion on both brands.
  4. We've run these rod holders both in a track and on our downriggers. In 4 seasons we've never had a pin slide out. However, I have had one get crushed from the insane Genny surge in April when it went under the dock. There is a black piece that is part of the ratcheting system on the holder which is meant to be the break away piece in case of rough play. We have broken a few of those, but that's there so the pins and the rest of the holder don get damaged. That being said. I have had some of the holders get sloppy. This is easily fixed by pulling it apart and tightening down the hardware, and adding a little lok-tite. It's actually a good thing, because it gets you in there so you can lube up the moving parts. I also want to clarify that to my knowledge, and I am going to obtain the answer from my contact at Cannon, everything is made and assembled right here in the USA. I know all the downriggers are, so I have no reason to believe the rod holders aren't. Every product has it's kwerks, and nothing is perfect. I can tell you Cannon customer service is great! The Cisco's you speak of are also great rod holders. We ran them for 3 or 4 seasons. However, we did have one snap on us during that time frame.
  5. There's a slot on Lakers? I thought we had to kill everyone that came over the back of the boat to make room for the extra 300,000 the Feds are going to start stocking next year?
  6. You taking grammar lessons from John Ross? Let's hope you at least pay your side bets! Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. FYI....hideout team name is now Captains Choice Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Why anyone who would pull copper over 300' when they are just "fun fishing" is beyond me. I hate copper with a passion, but it works so damn good!
  9. Things just got real close after this weekend. One event left. The King of the Oak title will be settled Labor Day weekend August 31st!
  10. Here are the results from Saturdays event. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Magnum Chrome and nice Kings in the top 60' 26N/17W. Gold was a good color for the kings. http://t.co/5Nx3Jp4wus

  12. Slow bite today. 26-27N seemed best. Lyman on a 200 copper was good. 500 copper took this brute. http://t.co/MLE2h51WdQ

  13. Just a ripple on the surface! 3rd leg of the King of the Oak tourney today.

  14. OK....Updated and corrected standings are posted. I don't know everyone's boat name, or team name, so if you want yours added please PM me with that.
  15. Who are the winners so far? Update: Never mind - should have looked around on the thread.
  16. Scott - do you have a list of the teams that are already in the shootout?
  17. We found another error in these standings. We will have this fixed by tonight. Our deepest apologies, and they are inexcusable. We are waiting on the "actual" spreadsheets to be sent over so we can marry them, and curb any human error with adding the scores up. We'll make this right guys. Paul is without a computer and I was running a double last Saturday, so it was tough to tabulate when we didn't have the actual spreadsheets.
  18. We run a Moor Subtroll. Very rarely does it move off of 2.0 for any species or time of year. Chris made some great points here.
  19. I just copy and pasted Paul's post on Facebook. I'll chat with him later tonight. Sorry for the confusion. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Again, I apologize for the mix up. We grabbed the files from Mike Waterhouse. IF there are any issues, which there shouldn't be, please let me know. I personally am keeping this file updated from here going forward. Don't forget that this Saturday July 19th is the third leg of the King of the Oak Series. You can sign up until 7 AM Saturday at the four locations with $100 cash only. Once again, in line at Lake Breeze marina to weigh by 3 PM.
