  1. No problem! Hope you had a great time up here.
  2. We used the 0* flush mount rod holder. I like to keep the net extended, and with this holder there is no stress on anything. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/attwood--stainless-steel-flush-mount-rod-holders-0-30-176;--P019_570_001_544
  3. Front door Kings on Lyman's! Allllll to ourselves! http://t.co/HElRwj5T80

  4. A-TOM-MIK sells loaded copper reels on his website.
  5. This will be a very important topic at the meeting the Genesee Charter Boat Association will have with the DEC next week on Tuesday October 7th. If you're free come on down around 6pm and join in on the discussion.
  6. The Lake Trout are still gorging themselves on Hammerhead Lake Trolls! 100-130' of water. http://t.co/djXTKZvYjD

  7. A-TOM-MIK makes a great torpedo weight, and it comes in 13 and 15 pound versions. The price is right on them, and you will see significantly less blow back.
  8. We wanted to get these dates out there so people can get them in their calendars. 2015's calendar will allow us to fish an event each month over a four month time frame. This will test each teams ability in different parts of the season, which I think will be pretty neat. It's almost as if we have a "Fishing League" of sorts at our port over the Summer. This is for everyone, and after 4 events a "King of the Oak" will be crowned. Friday, June 12 Saturday, July 18 Saturday, August 15 Sunday, September 6
  9. That's exactly where we are getting them. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I apologize for the lack of reports lately, but I guess I have gotten a little lazy. Anyway, fishing out of the Port of Rochester has been pretty decent. Every morning you can grab a couple Salmon at the piers and then there are LT to go play with. Had a cool thing happen to us yesterday when we came back from the LT grounds to see if we could scrape up another Salmon or two. We were heading North down the Summerville pier when the Church TX-22 takes off pulling a Lyman plug. We get it in and it's a nice sheepy. We toss it back, and the other Church TX-22 with the same Lyman on the other side starts ripping. While we are battling that fish I see our Cannon out and down start throbbing, so I release it and come up with nothing. We tie a 20" piece of 50lb Flouro to our j-plug harnesses so the plug can ride up it. I notice we lost about 4-5" of leader, the plug, and obviously the harness. We net that fish, and find ourself out in 40' of water easily 1/4 mile or more North of the pier heads. We get turned around, and gear re-set. On our South troll in 35' of water the Wire diver out 25' with a moonshine starts screaming! Great battle with lots of runs, and it finds the bottom of the net. As I'm unhooking it I see a set of #3 j-plug trebles in it's back. They were ours from the fish we lost on the out and down at the piers! We must have hit that fish in the back and he cracked us off. I know this was our hook harness because the hooks had 4-5" of 50lb fluoro on them, and a masking tape residue that s on all of them from being wrapped up since last Fall. Pretty cool story I wanted to share with you guys.
  11. Should be a great meeting! I hope people attend. 1. The stream scene needs attention. I've heard the state budget wont allow for more boots on the ground, but I feel these salaries could be paid for with the shenanigans that takes place specifically during Salmon season all along the South shore. I've already been told about Russians utilizing illegal tactics in local tribs for the Salmon. 2. The tagging trailer was a great tool that provided some valuable info. Specifically, that pen raised Chinnys had a survival rate of 2:1. I'd like to see a study done with Canadian Salmon not raised in Salmon River water showing their straying compared to the straying of Salmon River fish. We fish all the Canadian tourneys, and we feel the Salmon we are catching there still act like Salmon of the past. Stagging fish! Not ones that show up one day at the mouth and run the next day. Or fish that disappear at some point in mid August headed to the Salmon River leaving us with next to no Salmon population. What I am getting at is stocking Canadian fry on the South shores West end of Lake O to see if we can extend the Chinny fishing back into September.
  12. When the Salmon aren't cooperating the Lake Trout will! Hammerhead lake trolls with light tackle. http://t.co/RDcKYozGDo

  13. Amen to that!
  14. A friend of mine has one, and it is very nice. Just read the directions. There are certain positions you cant rest it in or oil will leak out.
  15. I can't confirm the SM haven, but the ladders are just East of the chute. You will see small bluffs with ladders on them to get down to the lake.
  16. Yes, the GPS does show a track.
  17. They haven't entered the Estuary in any numbers at the Salmon River. I'd say there is still a few weeks left of good fishing in the lake.
  18. Great fishing at the Oak this morning. 100-130' 70' to the bottom. Best fly was an A-TOM-MIK white halo shred. Familiar Bite also did damage

  19. Raymarine makes some really nice stuff, and I've seen their chirp first hand this year on two different boats. In my opinion for what we do it's not necessary. Just like Humminbirds side and down imaging isn't necessary, and wont help you catch more fish for what we do. Not to mention most guys out there that cant use the 2D sonar they have correctly! Is it a nice tool to learn and have? YUP! However, the average guy getting out a few times a month, if that, doesn't need to waste money on that technology, again in my opinion. Here are some screen shots from my bird. Play with all of them and make your decision: Also, with Humminbird you get the ability to plug and play with a mulitfunctional screen unlike Furuno You have GPS, and can add Radar: There are also a ton of diferent color pallets to chose from. I like to use this at night or in the morning running:
  20. All units mentioned will do what you need. If you want any info on Humminbirds Vince P and myself run them, and we are very pleased with them.
  21. I agree! This kid is just bragging away on here, and giving shameless plugs. Look at me...Look at me.... There is a reports section on this great site where you can actually give details on the fishing out of your port. Specific lures, depths, and areas help people out, and believe me they will appreciate it!
  22. Good Quality line is a must! We run McCoy Mean Green 25lb test all season. When we are running spoons we leader down (Flouro) to 10lb for BT and 15lb for Salmon. When we are running 8" paddles we use 20lb flouro leaders, and when we run meat paddles its the mono straight to the paddle. You also need to make sure your line weights are rated for the action rods your using.
  23. It's just that time of year! The Salmon are transforming. Digestive systems are shutting down which means they are striking to feed necessarily, but out of anger. Sunday morning out of the Oak we went 12/31 on Salmon in 45-65' of water. Some days are better than others. Monday we went 6/12.
  24. Congrats to Paul Czarnicki and his Free Spirit for winning the 2014 King of the Oak. This is a really fun series, and we'd like to see it grow next season.
