  1. Sweet! Nice fish! You mounting it?

  3. To answer Vince's questions: 1) Is the maximum amount of fish onboard (Coolered) 10? Or, are you saying the team can fish to a NYS limit and then sort for their desired 10? Teams can fish to their legal limit. 2) I see that there is a max of 5 Salmon, can a 10 fish catch constitute 10 trout with a max of 3 Lakers, or is the total trout number limited to 5 as well? 5 salmon/5 Trout with only 3 of those trout allowed to be Lakers. 3) Are you allowing teams with livewells to hold fish aboard alive yet release them if a bigger one is caught, or do they have to make that decision immediately at the point of boating said fish? Livewells are not allowed to hold fish "alive." The decision needs to be made to keep or release a fish at the time of the catch. 4) In one place you are asking teams to drain water from coolers prior to weigh in, and in another place it states that only block or bagged ice are allowed, which is it? Only ice is allowed in coolers, and all standing water from ice melting must be drained from the cooler prior to check in.
  4. Ever since I came back in December I've been trying to figure out a way to live there for half the year. Love it down there!
  5. Gimmie a day and we'll have answers to you guys.
  6. There would be no LOC because: A) All your native species would be extinct due to the thiamine deficiency they get from eating the evasive Alewife. Therefore, without stocking there would be nothing but warm water species in Lake Ontario. B) Very few people would come to Lake Ontario to catch an Atlantic, which can't honestly be targeted, and/or a Lake Trout.
  7. I'm sorry if a few people don't agree with me, and I'm very apologetic to the original poster for this thread going way off topic. However, I will stand by my words when I say that the Chinook runs this Lake, and always has. Secondly, I think trying to force the issue with Dave is wrong. It's his business, and he should be able to run it how he feels the need to. Kevin is a very good friend of mine. He runs doubles just about every day during SALMON season, but once Steelhead season starts he is running 1 trip per day for the most part. Brian we've been friends for a long time, but I think your becoming an Obama supporter! His more government mentality, and telling business how they should run with their pro union mentality isn't right. No one should tell you directly how to run YOUR business. Your either successful or not in business, and that correlates to your business decisions. Look back at my posts. I said most charters aren't running. If guys are running 50-80 trips on the East end 80% of them are in the July, August, September time frame. If I were you I'd stop fishing, and do some homework! Your grammar is terrible! Please explain the ego part. Where do I go around flashing an ego? Do I ever mention any of OUR, not my, tournament success on this website or any other? NO I don't. My goal is helping people catch more fish. From the responses I get it seems I'm doing very well on accomplishing my goals. Be honest with yourself Scott that was a fluke, but as you stated you can't catch a fish like that from the couch. So no matter where your at on the lake I encourage you to go out and fish.
  8. I agree with you about the spawning Salmon, but go to the Salmon River when they are spawning. It's ridiculous how many people are on it. That east end makes its money August-November. Some people would continue to fish the Lake if kings were to disappear, but the impact would be detrimental to tourism and local businesses. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I fish for everything. I'm just stating that there is a reason the King is called the King! It draws more people to this lake than any other species! It generates more $$ on this lake than any other species! Actually, that goes for both Lake and Stream.
  10. You have no clue what some of these guys promise their clients! LMAO The story's I hear, and the crap I see, all you can do is shake your head! LOL
  11. Are you a captain out there? The MAJORITY of that fleet works doubles all of August, and that's where they make their money, and get their trips! This is what I see and hear. I see and hear a lot more than most people on this lake. Just stating my opinion.
  12. Those are the die hard trollers out there with severe Cabin Fever. The crowds on the East end don't get there until July. I've fished that end of the Lake a lot, and have many friends on that end of the lake. As a matter of fact I've fished more of this Lake than 95% of the people that fish this Lake. For both warm and cold water species. You're kidding yourself if you think THE MAJORITY of people are coming to Lake Ontario for Lake Trout and Brown Trout! Matter of fact ask West end charter captains how many trips they get each year from people who have fished the East end and were promised Salmon. Only to catch a couple Brown Trout or a couple Lake Trout.
  13. It is true Brian! You don't make it out East Spring through early Summer. Those guys aren't running. I don't know how many days the only boats out of Oswego are the Cold Steel and Hat Trick. The rest of the fleet is floating waiting for July, August, and September to come around. If you market your business right you can get people to come catch other species. Hell, I'm selling Salmon/Lake Trout charters for this coming September!!!! The King is the fish that attracts people to Lake Ontario. The rest of the fish are just a bonus!
  14. Most people don't come to this Lake for anything but the King Salmon. Don't agree? Then why are all the charter boats sitting idle right now? The Brown fishing is amazing in April, but guys can't get the business. We bust our butt promoting the Brown fishing in April, and just barely get our trips each Spring. Yes, there are a lot of trophy fish in the Lake, but they are called the King for a reason! In my honest opinion do you think it would say much for the tourism on Lake Ontario when other fish are bigger than the all mighty King in these derbies? If word got out on the internet, which it can very very fast, that they weren't "The King" anymore that might hurt a lot of businesses. Again, this is just my opinion.
  15. #1 if you guys want to fill the Salmon board this Spring it can be done easily. Even on a Spring like this. They are out there, but you have to go to them, and you can't be the proud owner of a felony! A lot of you guys travel from far away to get to the bar in the Spring. Whats another 20 miles West at that point? #2 As far as the money not paid out for the Spring Derby goes......It's Dave's prerogative what he does. The derby is his business. I'm sure you wouldn't like someone telling you what to do with your business, or smashing your business on forums because they don't agree with your business model. As with all businesses if you like the way the owner runs them you support them. If you don't agree with their business model you don't support them.
  16. I asked my brother. He wasn't sure of the "official name" but he said you can find them in the electrical area at Home Depot.
  17. Sometimes there are tweaks that make a product that much better, and here is what we do with our Amish Outfitter releases. Once you have these set up rigging lines goes fast. we run 250lb Power Pro as our tow line. We sleeved the back hole and that's where we put our planer line through. We added a bolt and lock nut to add weight to help them slide down and stay down on windy days.
  18. Check your facts A-TOM-MIK Copper is not made by AFW, it was manufactured at Oswego Wire through the 70’s till the later 90’s and picked up by Tom in 2004, the same copper wire sold to the finger lake region for about 30 years and distributed from Barry’s Bait-Boat-n-Tackle on Seneca Lake. Tom had the lay re-worked in 2007 to be a tighter lay. Oswego Wire stopped making 7-Strand in the later 00’s and Tom had it made elsewhere and shipped to local plants in NY upon demand. Call AFW and ask for Shawn to verify they do not manufacture A-TOM-MIK Copper. They do however supply A-TOM-MIK with much of their stainless wire. 19. I'm not sure the exact size, but as long as it keeps the spoon under the surface it should work.
  20. Just a split shot 8' in front of a spoon flat lined. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. April 12th - Left the Genesee River around 6:30am and hooked right out of the chute. We motored down to Irondequoit Bay and set lines. Water temps were in the high 30s to low 40s. We worked some great colored water between Ship Builders and Hedges. We had a great day! A hot set-up was a Mixed Veggies fished off a Split Shot rig, and a Glow Frog fished off our Cannon Downriggers. Hot stick bait colors were SIlver/Blue, Black/Silver, and Perch. We ran our riggers back 50-60’, our boards from 120-175’ back, and our split shot rigs 80-100’ back. April 13th - We had the same crew out again, and instead of changing up the scenery we went right again out of the chute. We left the Genesee River around 6:30am, and motored down to Irondequoit Bay. When we set lines we noticed the water temps were up a few degrees. We worked the area between the Irondequoit Bay and Webster Park. The bite was just as good as the day before. Our HOT Split shot rigs from Saturday were DEAD! Hot rigs today were our planer board lines with bright colored sticks. Firetiger, Orange, Chartreuse, and Froggy all took several shots. We ran them from 125-175’ back. The lines fished off our Cannon Downriggers also produced well with Glow Froggy, Sea Sick Waddler, and Gator spoons fished 50-60’ back.
  22. Putting the clients to work on the insane Brown Trout Bite in Rochester! http://t.co/9PzAUyQNwf

  23. Nice 1-3' till from the East. 39 on the surface, and the gear is set.

  24. Bite is good! No one color is rocking. 130-175 back on the boards.
