  1. Check out Krenzers! When you get off the boat everything is walking distance! Captain Jacks and Abe's are two great bar/restaurants. Tim @ Krenzers has good mechanics, and great facilities if you spend the weekend.
  2. It's very easy to run your riggers off the Humminbird. If you want to cycle them then having the bird is key, and it's easy to set-up. That's about the only time we use the Humminbird to control our riggers. Otherwise it's easier to just walk back and move them manually.
  3. This was our first fish at the 2013 Wilson Harbor Invitational. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUTRtl_M8hY Here is a small fish from the Summer Tightline event in 2012. Work them riggers and chase the marks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T9V0oezsdA Here was our 29lb King from two years ago @ the Sandy Creek Shootout. 300 Copper fish, so I fast forwarded it a little. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3JfPThSjqk A screamer a few years back that took some line! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U7ZawayIrc
  4. Noting yet, but I want a light/small 2 man. I'm a big guy with a lot of gear. Need more room. I'm thinking of the Nanook and removing a seat. Sent from my Droid Maxx using the Lake Ontario United App.
  5. Don't start with the fuel consumption excuse! I don't know too many guys putting more fuel through their motors than us. So I don;t want to hear it! LOL Run some trips and recoup your expenses up West. Enjoy fishing the bar for the best King bite on the South shore. Bring it down for the month of May like other guys do. Fish the events as they move back East. Not many Salmon to target out of Sodus during May anyway. Yes, the Yankee is in Sodus. Went straight to Great Lakes to get it's annual "up-keep" work, and now I think it's sitting outside it's barn. Headed down next weekend to put in some new toys, do some engine work, and winterize her.
  6. Tim - I'll have to break my Rocket's out! I went to Bay of Quinte last Winter and stopped by Mike's place. He produces all his Rockets in his apartment! I didn't give them much seat time this Summer, but I'd really like to do a side by side comparison between the fake and the real stuff. The real stuff was insane this year, and I bet we went through 50 packs of Familiar Bite. I know we did 8 in one weekends worth of trips (4). When they got on the meat bite hard in August it was a joke how good it produced. It also helped us on our deep rigs during the Niagara County Pro Am to grab some big boys. When it comes to meat rigs guys.....keep it simple. Begin by pretending that the only colors out there are white and green. Find a leader length that works with whatever paddle your running. Sometimes teasers work on your leaders, and other times they want it clean. The Familiar Bite stuff is getting better, but it still only lasts for one fish. I felt the Eerie Deerie held up better a few years ago when we tried it, but the color of the strip was brown and I wasn't impressed by that. They could have changed their product since then, but I haven't looked.
  7. The DT10's also come with the pre-set depth options which is really nice. You can store 5 pre-set depths in the rigger, and once your clipped into your release you loosen the drag on the reel and hit run. You can walk away and do something else while it goes down for you. Also, when running the heavier weights the DT allows you to adjust the speed of the rigger. We slow them down to the 2 or 3 speed when going down with 20lb weights. My other favorite feature is an actual depth readout on the rigger display. Not having to look forward at the FF to see how deep you are is nice. I PM'd you BTW John explained the set-up above with what you'd need.
  8. Absolutely not Wayne. Salmon Slam is a great name, and one that's widely used. We used it first back in 2007 at Wilson during the Niagara Pro Am for an additional event for anyone fishing out of Wilson Harbor. Our Salmon Slam is a new concept/event we want to bring to Lake Ontario this year, and I think anyone fishing the Spring derby up West is going to love this additional event. Oops...did I just leak a little something something there? Here are links to other Salmon Slam events throughout the Great Lakes: http://www.hoosiercohoclub.org/Salmon%20Slam.html http://www.slamnsalmon.com/ http://www.sooeveningnews.com/article/20130827/NEWS/130829521/1001/NEWS We were unaware, or just plain ignorant, that you guys named your new event that name. So, what we are going to do is make a donation to your event from the Wilson Harbor Invitational and Salmon Slam. We think what you guys are doing over in Sodus is a great event for a good cause. We will contact Nick or see him when he's up at Wilson for his Spring trip.
  9. These are two places that were reccomended to me for parts: Marine Parts Source Ebasicpower
  10. ERABBIT - I know you can use anything from a 800-1100 series, but I think a 700 series 'bird will do. The CannonLink will also need to be purchased. It's a simple system to put together. If you went to the DT10s then all you would need is their $95 Transducer for the bottom lock feature. Any other questions guys let me know! I am more familiar with the DT10s and Magnum 10STX, but I will do my best to help you with the DT5s.
  11. You can ask me specifics about the riggers. I'm more familiar with the DT10's and Mag 10 STX. As for the bottom track I think with the DT5 you need to have a Humminbird unit (800 series and above) and the Cannon Link. If you go to the DT10 you can use a transducer that hooks into the downrigger to track bottom. The price of the transducer looks to be about $100 on Cannon's website.
  12. They were tossing around the idea of a $2,000 entry fee in Canada for this year, and $5,000 entries have been tossed around on the south shore. I'd say it's only a matter of time.
  13. Are there plans for a new bridge to go in its place?
  14. No communication will be allowed. Sent from my Droid Maxx using the Lake Ontario United App.
  15. As mentioned before there are many changes coming to WHI this season and we wanted to let you in on a few. Beginning late next week our website will officially be under construction. We are attempting to make things more user friendly and allow for better communication. Everyone will have better access to our social media and will be encouraged to participate in discussions there. We will also begin taking payments for deposits, balances, dinner tickets, and merchandise. We are hoping to cut down on the amount of mail we deal with as well as last minute changes for dinner etc. Not to say we cant make last minute changes but the idea is to have most of the heavy lifting done before the event. Additionally we will be attempting to learn a lot more about our teams. There will be a log in on our website where you can tell us all about team members, accomplishments and even upload a photo of your vessel or captain. If your interested you can sign in for our SMS service as well (beginning in Jan 2014) this will provide tournament updates to anyone that can receive texts on their mobile device. (times, dates, etc) Finally we will be attempting to go LIVE. With technology what it is today we will be placing several cameras on vessels in the tournament fleet. We will attempt (obviously there are limitations) to broadcast from the boat to our website where anyone can watch the action live! Many more announcements coming soon! Sent from my Droid Maxx using the Lake Ontario United App.
  16. We have some great things planned for this Spring! Stay tuned! Sent from my Droid Maxx using the Lake Ontario United App.

  19. Our Dreamweaver Sea Sick Waddler was a great spoon for us in 2013. Other top producers were: Moonshine Green Shorts Moonshine Carbon 14 Dreamweaver Lemon Ice Dreamweaver Silver Glow Green Hot Tip Stinger Nuke Finger Lakes UV Sea Sick Waddler Had a stretch in early July where Dreamweaver's Raspberry Dolphin was on Fire!
  20. You'd be surprised at the amount of charter captains up and down the Lake that lurk on the reports section. I was surprised to find out about a few of them. They didn't seem like internet kinda guys.
  21. You will see no noticeable difference between a 12lb Torpedo and a 12lb Shark except for a few less Benjies in your wallet. If you want less blow back you need to go to 15lb weights. If you have Cannon, Scotty, Traxstech, or Big John Brutes they can handle that weight. Don't just go buy a Shark to have one, and realize it did you no better than your Torpedos.
