Thanks guys! I'll get a report up after this weekends event. Dick Dennie and crew did a great job! I think they were the only team to box out on both days! Heck of an accomplishment during some tough fishing conditions.
I tried reaching you on Channel 16 Skipper. I saw you and was curious if you were doing them. We fished every afternoon this weekend, and it was decent. Sunday morning was a slaughter!
We weren't planning on running any trips this weekend, but we made an exception, and boy are we glad we did! We met this nice family from Colorado, and they had been on numerous charters all over the US. Most of those taking place in saltwater. These charters have gone so bad for them that they didn't bother bringing a cooler for any fish to take home!
We left the dock around 5:30 and headed out to a lumpy Lake Ontario. We set down in 130’ pointed her North into the waves and set rods. Fish were coming fast, but given the rough waters holding onto them was a challenge. A nice mix of King Salmon and Coho Salmon. Our big guy of the day hit a 400 copper pulling a Green Smartfish/A-TOM-MIK Green Crinkle. I believe each person on the trip took two turns bringing that fish to the boat. Other good lures today was the Dreamweaver Sea Sick Waddler down 60’, and the new Dreamweaver DUV Lemon Ice SS on a free slider.
We worked the waters right out front from 150-300 on N/S trolls. Lady O picked up as the day went on, but we were fortunate enough to get our limit early and be back for lunch so we didn't get pounded any more.
Needless to say, these guys had to go into town and look for a cooler so they could bring their catch back home with them!
Let's hope it's not the case, but it is that time of year where the fishing goes to crap for a few weeks. Usually it starts the week of the Niagara Pro Am. Time will tell. However, you can't catch much from the couch, so anytime on the water is better than listening to the 'ol lady or working.
The cool thing, I think, about the Smart Troll there is no need for a chart to be memorized, or written down. If it works like it's supposed to you can have up to 6 probes in the water giving you real live data so you can adjust your spread.
OK, I did see that. The point I was leading to is that current and thermoclines will affect the depth curve, and if those numbers were taken in April, because I know they did some extensive testing off Pultneyville in April, then that variable would have been out of the equation.
Sorry, I must have missed this question. I'd say the blue isn't as bad as white, but they still attract bugs.
BTW....Here's an updated pic. This is light from 4 Lumitec Caprera2 spreader lights. Dual color White/Blue. Once it gets nice out, and I can remove some canvas, I will update the thread with a pic of the additional 4 Lumitec Orbitz that are under the canvas.
Mic is a good guy and catches them well. Reports out of the ROC are surface steelies and Lake Trout. A king or two might get thrown in while fishing those two species. Good luck!

We are not sponsored by them, and are in the process of purchasing this. They are back-logged until the end of June from what I was told, and working out a few small bugs. I do know a few guys running the first production models, and who have prototyped these, and they are very impressed. Just like a lot of computers/electronics devices there will be bugs. Some improvements have been, and are being, made recently from input that was given to the manufacturer from the initial users.
Some issues I've heard of thus far:
*Bad Probe
*Software related issues
I think this unit will give you data that you have never had, and I think it will put a few extra fish in the boat. Time will tell!
Any thought to expanding the list of ports due to the low water level we are experiencing? We really want to fish this, and have clients who are looking forward to it as well.
