  1. Vince....the Canadians are catching on! We can't give them our deep program!
  2. Keep it simple! Run those 15lb rigger rods with spoons on your downriggers. I would add 2 wire diver set-ups to the mix and run your flasher/flies on those. I would only invest in copper if you A) plan on keeping fish for consumption B) are chartering C) are fishing tourneys. Longer coppers really take it's toll on fish, and it's no fun to reel them in on it. If I fun fished all the time I don't think I'd go over a 300 copper.
  3. The 'v' in the back of your boat. I believe it's called "deadrise."
  4. It depends on what length your talking. 1 keel will handle a 600 copper, but two makes it run out to the side better with a 600 copper. If your only running cores and shorter coppers 1 keel will suit you just fine.
  5. It's a simple hole saw to be honest. Pop the hole and use the 3M marine 4200 or 5200. Make sure you get the right tilted element. It comes in two angles. That's very important, and it all depends on your boats hull.
  6. Are you talking about the B60? We ran it's brother the SS60 (B stands for Brass SS stands for Stainless Steel). They come with a tilted element so it shoots straight down. Great ducer! I think Vince is running one of these now on his Viking. Never have to worry about underwater obstructions with this ducer, and if your on a trailer it allows you to have a thru-hull and not worry about damage from the bunks or rollers.
  7. So, you have no money for more DEC officers or a 2nd hatchery on Lake Ontario, but you can afford to cut fishing and hunting license fees? Come on Cuomo! This is a shady way to win back some of NYS gun owners!

  8. Am I the only one here who thinks this is bullchit? The fees are what they are. We are used to paying them at this point, so why lower them? Cuomo wants to lower these fees because of a surplus, but there is no money to put feet on the ground to protect our natural resources? This is a sly way to win back some of the gun owners "Hunters" in NYS hands down! Lake Ontario is responsible for something like 2/3rds of the out of state fishing licenses sold. We all know this lake could use a 2nd hatchery, or more officers policing the Salmon River in October. Keep the license fees where they are and invest back into the state!
  9. None that I know of. I know a few people who do this. I think since they are already in the lake you can catch and use them for bait with no issues.
  10. We ran both the Fish On and the Eerie Deerie strips this past season. Both will work just fine! You can find them at various shops up and down Lake O. Now here is my $.02 on the difference between the two, which you can take with a grain of salt because we only mess with it when $ is on the line. Other wise it's just easier to run our A-TOM-MIKs. The Fish On looks the best out of the two strips. Both cosmetically, and the size. However, the Eerie Deerie seems to hold up better longer in the water. The Canadians are BIG meat guys, and have various brine's for their bait. When we fish against them in the summer these guys are running 75% or more meat rigs. We go right by them with our flies and seem to keep up with them, and most times do a little better. If your "fun" fishing other things will keep you busy enough that you don't have to mess with the stuff. If you want to learn and become good at have fun. It does catch good fish, and some days it will out produce flies.
  11. Works well if you get into a nice school. Never done much out in that deep of water, but if you find a pocket on the shoreline that's loaded it can be a lot more fun that trolling them up.
  12. Please explain how you can talk on TV about being an expert on big foot/sasquatch but you have no proof or evidence that one exits? I mean lez be honest here....with the amount of trail cameras in the woods now a days you'd figure we'd have at least one on film!

  13. 3.0 on the GPS is not flying when your talking Kings, Cohos and Steelies. Cohos and Steelies can be very aggressive fish.
  14. You wont need more than a few colors of lead to chase BTs in the Spring. And that's if you go over 15' of water looking for them. IMHO if you aren't fishing tourneys, chartering, or plan on taking fish home with you I wouldn't suggest Copper line to you. It's no fun fighting fish on it, and the longer lengths 400+ often kills smaller fish when they get hooked on it because they get dragged through he water for extended periods of time during the fight. 30lb wire and copper are two different animals. Go on a charter and have the captain explain all of this to you. Seeing it generally works better for me than reading it on the internet or in a magazine.
  15. I'd be interested if they aren't sold.
  16. A split shot above a Stinger Stingray is deadly in Spring time. Alewife or Tuxedo patterns work well, but the Stinger SSW is hands down our best spoon for BT in the Spring.
  17. WooHoo! LOL Typically, we would let you fish Friday with us, but we are running charters Thur and Friday and fishing the tourney with a charter. So I apologize for that. We'll talk when the date gets closer.
  18. Jefferson county.....the home of no limit on perch. Let's hope these little bastard are biting.

  19. May 3rd, 4th, and 5th - Available! - The group that had May 3rd, 4th, and 5th moved their trip back a week so… http://t.co/FKxjbXfP

  20. You can't beat the price or efficiency with those A-TOM-MIK torpedoes. We fish them down to 125'ish, and you could fish them down even further if you wanted. I HATE blowback, so if we are going deeper than 125' we typically go to a 20lb shark. I have seen guys put them in the cradles when running, but if I were you and had to trailer the boat I would take the 5 minutes and disconnect them and put them in a 5gal pail.
