With no rain to create run off and color on the shoreline be happy we have wind to stir it up. Otherwise, it could be real tough fishing out there. Right now if you catch a decent day you can really put the smack down on them.

We were supposed to run today Bob, but mother nature had other plans. So, we took off for the Oak after our trip. Keep in touch!

Happy Easter! We had another charter out of Rochester today, and after yesterdays bite we knew where we were headed. We rolled down to within a quarter mile of I-Bay and set up the spread. Same sticks as yesterday. Bright on one side and Natural on the other. 100' back on one side and 125' back on the other. As soon as we got to Oklahoma Beach rods started to fire. Not as fast and furious as it was yesterday, but we had very steady action. Most of the morning was filled with cookie cutter Brown Trout coming off the boards. Our best stick was a Rapala chartreuse and silver F9. Those same spoons from yesterday fished off our Cannons were quiet for most of the morning. We had a Stinger Sea Sick Waddler, a Dreamweaver Glow Frog SS, and a Dreamweaver Orange Slurpee SS. As the morning progressed we watched the size get better and better. We would slip out to 25' on turns and try to pop a King, but we never did hook into one today. It was still a fun day none the less with more action than you needed. Here were today's brutes:

We left the dock around 6am and meandered down to the bay setting up a quarter mile from the mouth. Water temps were in the mid 40's. Things started off great as I dropped the Otter Boat overboard the front of the boat cracked around the front hole. SWEET! Well, brother Craig broke out the drill and put it back together with a fresh hole while I deployed the other side of the boat. We ran 8 flat lines off our Otter Boats. One side pulled bright sticks, and the other side pulled El Natural! We also ran our three downriggers with a spoon program. The bite was just insane! A few times throughout the day we cleared everything with a flurry. Best sticks were Firetiger and Black and Silver. On our Cannon's we pulled a Stinger Sea Sick Waddler, a Dreamweaver Glow Frog SS, and a Dreamweaver Orange Slurpee. Corner riggers back 60' down 5', and the middle rigger back 15' down 5'. We were pleasantly surprised early on in the morning when a Chinook Salmon slammed a Storm Thin Fin in Black and Silver off a flat line and peeled off a hundred feet. That made the day! As fast as we could get the rods in they would go off it seamed. While we were turning around near the cross we swung out to 25' of water. I lowered the rigger with the Sea Sick Waddler down to 15, and a minute later it was screaming! With an hour left we decided enough was enough with the Browns. We wanted Kings! So we slid out to 25' of water and out went two slide divers and down went our Cannons. Twenty minutes into it we started to second guess the decision of pulling off the Brown trout. I started to clear the divers to go back inside and as I was pulling the second diver the corner rigger fires with the Dreamweaver Glow Frog. King number three for the day! All Browns were released to fight another day, however there are three less Kings in the ROC! A nice Brown Trout! Another great Brown Trout! The three Chinooks!

I think the problem here isn't the boards, but where you have your mast mounted. If your mast is on the very front of your boat even the slightest turn is going to result in one of the boards being pulled harder and the other to slow. Your pivot point is in the back of the boat because that's where the prop is. A small movement back there results in a much larger movement at the bow. I noticed this on friends boats in the early spring. On our last two rides we had our pulleys half way up the side of the boat on the Bayliner and a third up from the back on the Trojan. We don't see that start and stop as much, and I think it's because of this.

We ran the 8' ML rods for BT's the last two seasons paired with the Accudepth Plus reels. Not a bad combo. Fit and finish on the rods wasn't the best, but that could have improved since then. Otherwise, a good choice at a great price!

I didn't know I could get 10 colors on a 40. We have been running the 50 size for our 10 colors and our 300 coppers. We have out 5 colors on 40's. Either way you'll love them!

Since the Birds ducers are 83/200 you wont see the 50/200 in the menu until you hook one up to it. I know people who have put airmar ducers in 50/200 on bird units from the 700 series on up. The customer service reps wouldn't know this as they are just instructed to talk about the line that they have available. Really, only the engineers or technical people would have been able to tell you yay or nay in my honest opinion. BTW that ducer your looking at from Airmar is a good one! We had it on our Bayliner.

Other states have this law. PA is one of them if I am not mistaken, and the boats out of Erie, PA would crush the amount of boats out on the south shore of Lake O on a nice summer day. I think it is smart to educate boat owners. Especially new ones.

LOL....My brother has been out of there a few times this Spring. He has a line that gets him out of there with no issues. We are in our little aluminum rig which drafts next to nothing.

Fished for an hour before we pulled lines and went to work on the boat. Water was dirty except for a little patch of grey/green water off the point. No hits, no runs, and no errors! As Scotty B would say it sucked! I'm all set with our aluminum rig. Time for some glass. Goin' in on Friday, and it can't come soon enough! Bruce - My brother wanted to play chicken with you today. We were the little yellow boat that was aiming for you before we picked up and went into Braddocks. So, next time you see him you can slap him around a lil bit.
