The Russ Louk Memorial held by Southern Tier Bassmasters took place this weekend on Conesus Lake. It attracted 50 boats, which is a lot on a lake the size of Conesus. Fishing on Conesus has been very tough! Post spawn phase, which is normal for the first few weeks of the season, has really shaken up even some of the best Conesus lake anglers. I took the time to head down there Friday to practice for the tourney considering I haven't done much of anything on Conesus in the last few trips. Well, things really didn't change. It was tough, and most all of the fish we took were on Senkos. However, we did have one highlight of the day. About 11:00am we took this brute below on a Senko. He bounced between 5.4-5.6 on the scale. Come tourney day I made a last minute decision to go to a weedline that the big guy above hit on. It didn't take long to get into the fish, but they weren't exactly jumping in the boat. We fished the whole day bouncing from spot to spot. Everything looked so good, and you would think that we should be loading the boat up with fish. At the end of the day all we could scrounge up was 11 pounds. Kicker fish just weren't active for us on this day. It took 16 pounds to win the tourney, which is very light for this lake.

Just wait till the DEC finds out how much natural repro takes place. It will give them a reason to cut back the stocking! -

Tom, Jerry showed me some flies you sold him in 1967. Man have your flies come a long way! Oh, the only time the box was opened was at the recent Orleans tourney when I personally opened it. I was like Geeeesh Jerry! These things belong in a museum! -

There are some good smallies in that area! You can get into the Walleye too if you know where to go. -
I have had some bad luck with Mason the last few years. Just wondering what everyone else is using?

Thanks!

Does anyone have contact info for this company? I have core that has lead coming out of the sheath mid way through the 10 color. I can understand the beginning or end, but the middle? I thought they said they has some bad stuff that was doing this a year or two ago. Anyone else having similar issues?

I headed out with my ol' man and girlfriend around 7:30am and we fished till 10am. We started in tight looking for some Brown Trout, but the water was too warm. So, we slowly trolled North looking for that temp break and the Browns, but it just didn't show up. Once we hit 160' of water the center rigger started throbbing, so my girlfriend grabs the rod and fights a nice 5-6lb Steelhead to the net. It took a sliding cheater on a 60' rigger pulling a Dreamweaver SS Glow Froggy w/ a silver cup. Things were slow this morning with a bleak screen. However 160' seemed to be holding the most fish. I switched up one of the 5 colors to a 10 color with that Stinger Copper Confusion from Thursday evening. it wasn't in the water for 10 minutes and the rod was loaded with something heavy. That lasted about 10 seconds as the mono between the core and braid snapped. That spoon has had a lot of attention from the fish in the last two trips. About 9:30 I hear a rigger start screaming and I look up and it is the corner rigger I just changed up. I had it parked at 80' with a free slider. Both lures were Stinger Copper Glow Green Alewives. We boated a healthy teenage Salmon. This fish took the slider, and in my opinion was out of the comfort zone for Salmon considering my 60' rigger was reading 55 degrees.

Will be there for the BT Derby! -
Translation: If my girlfriend does not go, I will not be allowed to go. I'm 110% sure if she read what you wrote she would be like "yea right! He does whatever he wants!" And that's how it should be! I'm only being nice becasue she will have (at the end of the summer) 2 weekends of my time ! The last week in July, and the last week in August. Other than that I will be fishing the Big O. I think you all should have figured that out from the plethora of fishing reports I post . NO ONE will EVER affect my time on the water with the exception of my kid(s). And right now I don't have any that I know about . Ray - The word plethora above - Definition - it means A LOT! Oh yea to top it off....Since Last Friday I've seen her twice (Sunday night and Monday night) becasue I have been FISHING!!!!!! Let's see how long this relationship lasts! Maybe the Big O will save me again from commitment.

Me, Dad, Uncle Eric, and Legacy We ran 3 riggers, 2 wires, a 10 color down the chute, and 2 five colors off the boards. We fished for an hour and took 3 - 6-8lb Steelhead all off 5 color cores. 2 took a Stinger Confusion on a Copper blank. The third Steelie took a Rapala GFR in a J-11 size. The screen looked really good, but the current was ripping. I have no doubt that a morning trip out there would yield a bunch of action. I found out when we got out there that all my Steelie colors were in the other Special Mate box sitting at my brothers house. I wish I had some of them because I hear the Dreamweaver SS Crazy ****, Firecracker, and Steelie Dan along with the Stinger Mixed Veggies has been HOT off Braddocks in the last few days for some nice Steelies.

Big fish, or fish in general, only hit when your letting out the copper rod!

Thanks Farmer Jax! LMAO!

Or you can get it out on big boards and not worry about it getting into your wires. Many times on charters we run 4 wires, and at least 2 coppers. I personally have never gotten my copper wadded up, and my ol' man CANT drive! Outriggers just aren't long enough.

I have 3 riggers on my boat. I find 38 degree water and work up from there. My probe rigger isn't my deepest rigger generally. My corner riggers are. The probe gives too much blow back to the cable. The less cable out equals less blow back. That said I make sure its still in the strikezone.

Yup, we had the extended all the way out.

Legendary Wonder set automatic release for circular divers
Yankee Troller replied to Mike C's topic in Tackle and Techniques
No adjustments. It will act as a regular diver but in rough stuff you will get a jigging action. -

The purpose of the spring is to give a jigging action to the diver. Which in turn would give your lure a little more action. Trust me, I tried to pull the plastic thing all the way, and I couldn't get it to go. -
I agree!
