  1. Tried it again today. Only caugh 1 SM and 1 Pike. Both hit dropshot roboworms. SM was nothing to brag about, but it was better than sleeping in!
  2. There isnt a great place there. The one I know about isnt friendly to fisherman. I had some friends try to stay there last spring. It is a big yacht place and you know how them blow boaters get.
  3. The tournaments start when the season starts. Those are a blast, and I will probably be doing some more this summer since I have a boat now. As far as spots go we have a select few points that we found held fish. But Im sure since the Sm is a cruising fish that given the day those areas could change. You do see some bait on the screen down there, and 1 or 2 of the fish spit up tiny silver minnows.
  4. Well, I hate to rub it in but Iam trying to get back down there tomarrow morning. I had some tips from a guy who has fished there as late as January and caught bass. Basically it is just like what you read in Bassmaster magazine. Winter bass = deep and Winter bass tactics = drop-shot, jigging spoons, and silver buddies. We caught these SM in 27-30 FOW all while drop shoting. When I drop shot I use: A med- med lt 7' rod 6lb test McCoy clear fishing line Gammy Octopus hook (forgot the size) 4" roboworms We basically flipped these 10 yards in front of the boat and slowly worked them back to us. Key with drop shotting is to work the bait and not the weight! You dont want that fish to eat the weight with no hook in it!
  5. Im nto sure why his coming here, but I think he will be somewhere in the buffalo area. I remember him asking about Wilson harbor for some reason.
  6. Daves response: There was some talk, but Dan is just too busy this winter with a couple of book projects, and I'm in the midst of relocating to NY so we're just doing one school this year and it will be in Birch Run, Michigan. Dave Mull Editor Great Lakes Angler Magazine [email protected]
  7. I just e-mailed Dave, so I will post his response. What else are you going to do this offseason? Take a weekend trip! Bring the old lady and let her loose in the Fingerlakes mall
  8. Dave Mull was thinking about having one at BPS in Auburn with Mr. Keeting, I blieve. It was talked about on the GLA site.
  9. I might have to get a non-resident hunting license!
  10. Were you the guy I talked to at the launch? If so that sux! Well, heres how I got my boat to launch: 1st we tried the noth part of the launch and couldnt get her to float of the trailer. So we pulled out and went to the center of the launch. We tried there and again failed, but when we went to pull out the boats back end was on muck and it pulled of the trailer a little. So we backed it in again and the boat floated. I couldnt even lower my motor becasue as soon as it hit he water it would go right into the muck. I had to use the TM to get about 50 yards from shore before I could get the motor in the water enought to start, and I have a hydraulic Jack plate! Good thing I dont draft much. To get it back on the trailer I went in on the TM and we cranked it on my hand. The reason you couldnt get in was becasue there is a mound out there from all the power loading during the summer. So there is a hole and then a mound behind it. Since the water is so low my back end was siting on the mound. That launch needs some attention! Even during the summer you have to go back so far the front wheel is in the water.
  11. All the fish came from 27-30 FOW. That shore line has a quick drop on it.
  12. Rig is running good! I had her over 70 the other day. Handles a small chop unbelievable. There are things I want to do and some things I need to clean up, but other than that its turn key go! Thanks for the suggestions on the site. I am constantly trying to improve it. I have taken some of them and changed it around. It felt so good to catch SM again!
  13. Well, i caught my first December bass today. We hit the water about 8am after a late departure time form Rochester and trying to figure out how to ge the boat to float. From all the powerloading and low water there wasnt much water towards the rear of my boat. Oh well, we fished for 30 minutes and we had two beauties in the boat: Here are the others we landed: We ended up losing 2 others. All fish came off Drop-Shot Roboworms in Aarons magic. I hope this weather stays this way so I can get me some bass in January!
  14. Its about time! We can only hope that soon we will be able to do the same here!
  15. Danjr - I remember ya! We party with the Candy boys quite often up there. If your up there this spring then you will see me up there. Thanks guys for the feedback. The shrink tubing isnt to hook into an inline board. I only use big boards and dont like the in lines too much. The shrink tubing is used to tell how much is out. red would be 100', blue 200', and so on. Im realleary about Okumas. I have 4 and dont like them so I think Im going with the Penn.
  16. -4 to 1 3.25 to 1 - it sux and its heavy, but it catches fish!
  17. OK guys, who's running it and whats your set-up? Im buying a Penn 345GTI and Im not sure what rod its going on yet. I want to get at least 500' on it though. Some PA friends put colored shrink tubing on the copper every 100' so they know how far out it is.

  19. Well, again we slayed them. Lots of biggins, and a ton of average size too. We had about a 30 minute window of as soon as your bait hit the bottom you could start reeling it up with a fish on. If you have a small boat you need to get down there for some fun! Best depth for us was 24-26 FOW. Fatheads and plastic in chartruse were neck and neck for best baits. Weather is going to stay this way through the weekend, so I might be back down there or over to Conesus for some bruiser SM.
  20. Mick, Talk to Billy, he learned a little secret from a guy who used to produce spoons. Im not sure what he used for that top coat, but man does it work.
  21. Thats cool! I'll be out on the bay with my old man fishing today for monster perch. I'll think about you in those meetings and I might even send a picture to your camera phone.
  22. Yeah, Im already looking into another prop. I want it going as close to 75 as I can get it! There is a guy who blueprints props for this model boat that has a great rep.
  23. Dont worry about it Hank. Yeah, I got her up to 69.7 yesterday on the bay. Not much of that boat was in the water, trust me! Im going back tomarrow afternoon to get some more pigs! Its so fun to fish for them when they are that big. You swear you have a small bass on or something.
  24. Got out around 11 fished till 2. Caught a lot in the 10-12" range. Bigget was just about 14". Fished between 18-30' of water.
