  1. Wow! That's really the only word that can describe this morning. We didn't get all the rods in the water and Salmon started hitting the deck of the Yankee. At first, our Cannon downriggers parked at 15 & 20' were taking our bites on spoons. Once we got the sticks deployed it was mayhem. On one side we ran Bay Rat Lures LXDs on 15lb mono, and on the other side we ran 2 colors of FishUSA Stealthcore with Long Shallow sticks. Both were pulled by our Offshore inlines. We also had a couple shots on our slide diver rods with various spoons. We landed about 15 Salmon, lost a few, 3-4 Lake Trout, and a beautiful Brown Trout fishing from 7am to 11am. Fingers crossed they open us back up soon! Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Some spoons have a tendency to do that. You'll learn which ones do and which ones don't. We keep those spoons for our divers so they are short leads. We don't run many spoons flat lined, but a small split shot 6-8' in front of the spoon can get that spoon under the surface. I've had what your talking about happen on long rigger leads with this particular spoon. Generally, longer than 40' and down less than 6-7'
  3. Is that what I have to look forward to?
  4. I don't know if Cannon corrected the problem, but I can tell you it's not wide spread. I've had 2 where the pin wobbles out, and Cannon has replaced both. There are breakaway parts on these rod holders so the rod holder itself doesn't get damaged. I've been through a couple of those. I don't think there is a need to worry. If your buddy is local to Lake Ontario I can get him whatever Cannon products he looking for.
  5. If Kevin isn't interested call BW Customs. He does a lot of Aluminum boat work. I'm sure he'd be interested. Granted it's in Sodus, but he does great work.
  6. Call me at Krenzer Marine in service. I can get everything you need, and I have a great installer. I'm well versed in Minn Kota/Humminbird personally. Thanks @Big Spoon
  7. I think the 15hp would be the way to go. If you are looking at a Mercury or Yamaha give me a shout. I can get either.
  8. A thru-hull ducer isn't an option then. P66 would be my recommendation if you want to go to an AIRMAR. I'd check your current install vs what SIMRAD suggests. Sometimes the multi-function ducers (ones with SI and DI) aren't great ducers while on plane when you're trying to use traditional sonar. On my Lund I have a Y cable for my HELIX that takes traditional sonar from a traditional only ducer, and SI/DI from my MEGA ducer. I can read bait at 20-25mph with my transom ducer on that set-up.
  9. The are operable with a skeleton crew.
  10. If you think going to another transom mount transducer is going to make things better I think you're mistaken. AIRMAR makes great ducers, but the ducers that come with your MFD's are great too. Most of the time people not happy with a ducers performance is due to poor location/installation, or sonar settings. If you have a fiberglass boat my recommendations are B60 if you trailer, B45/B744v if you don't trailer. I'd also talk you out of CHIRP if all you do is troll. If you jig for fish CHIRP can have some advantages with target separation. For trolling you're loosing 20* cone angle and getting a "prettier" picture. Not worth the 2-3 times the cost IMHO. Not sure where you are from, but I do a TON of this at Krenzer Marine and can help you out with your set-up. I can get anything you need, and I have a great installer.
  11. Great fish! Love the colors.
  12. Nice job. Coho's look nice this year.
  13. Call me at Krenzer Marine and we can discuss. I know Minn Kota and Humminbird well. Those two work very well with each other.
  14. I don't have the black ones, but I'm sure they work. I run green tape on one side and silver tape on the other.
  15. Watch this video. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the fishery in October when everyone's off the lake.
  16. This weekend I'm planning on heading offshore to use my electronics and find the bait you guys trawl this time of year. How about some data as to what depths I should start looking? If I see some marks on the bait I'll drop down a few rigs.
  17. Nice catches! Kings this early are like golden Easter eggs in US waters. Southern Canadian waters tend to hold more Salmon in late March/April. Stay off the beach a little. Last Sunday we had a a lot of great marks in that 15-25' range.
  18. 1400 pages? Who the heck writes these things!?!?!? Who the heck reads these things!?!?!?!?
  19. From Rochester to Niagara it's tough to beat July. If you wanted to come in May Olcott/Wilson are great choices.
