  1. When can you meet? I'll be out of town Thursday-Monday coming up. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. That's what we've used. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. I have used those and they work great. Little tough for customers I think. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. The Genny is your best bet. I-Bay iced over at the North end. A little wind and it could open up easily. There is a launch by the coast guard station in Sodus. That's generally open.
  5. I recorded one this weekend at the Niagara Show. When I know where they are posted I'll get back to ya.
  6. I was. What were you interested in?
  7. I generally use spoons, but a buddy runs Bay Rat short shallows behind them and does well.
  8. No, but I do recommend a ML action rod. I've run 8' and 9' ML rods. Both work fine.
  9. Typically, I run it on 30 lb braid. On this particular day I ran it on a rod that had 15 lb monofilament. One thing you want to make sure of is that you have a medium light action rod. Eight and a half to nine foot seems to be best. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Sk8man is correct. They offer less resistance and seem to dive better. I brought them on a buddy's boat and ran it on one side vs his regular diver on his side. He couldn't compete. Could it have been the day? Sure, but others have seen the same results. I've also noticed when running the larger versions on wire they create a vibration in the tip. I'd like to mention this side in the video was where my kicker was running. What's even more impressive is that the side exhaust on my Trojan doesn't even scare these fish. My diver is more or less right in that loud exhaust. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. https://chinookdiver.com/shop?olsPage=products For this technique we like size 2, but I know guys running size 1.
  12. Who would have thought that 8-12' divers could save the day while Spring Brown Trout fishing in skinny water? For years it was all about "stealth" when fishing these fish. Well, here's the proof that these divers work. This is a technique that was started by a couple of Rochester captains, and since then it's been tested all over the South shore of Lake Ontario. If you don't have these in the water you're missing bites. Bites that come from right under your boat! We like the #2 size Chinook Diver with about a 6' 15lb leader off the back of the diver. We set the diver to the setting that brings it away from the boat. On that setting you can match the line out on your counter to the depth of water you're in. In 10' of water let the diver out 10'.
  13. Nice job, we fished that water Monday.
  14. 4/5 years old. I pulled it out of a boat I bought from a buddy to upgrade to a bigger one. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. None that I can see. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Not one of my reasons mentioned was to increase natural reproduction opportunities. It was to protect the species designated for the Lake guys, and also help out the trib guys come the Trout run. I LOVE how everyone's concern is for one small town, that turns a blind eye to unethical fishing practices mind you, but no one cares for the hundreds of charter boats on the lake. Nor the multiple small towns that house them along the whole South shore. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. It's the black model, and it's in great shape.
  19. Wrong, Salmon are managed for the Lake. Not the tribs. You guys made that perfectly clear when you started regulating us on the lake. It needs to be our turn to protect OUR fish. We are being told what we can do on the lake now, so it's not cool when a trib business takes a hit? You tributary folks are just like the LGBTQPRS community. A few of you whine loud enough and get your way from our leaders. I can't wait to see the next regulation that comes down the pipeline against the Lake guys. We just continue to get it shoved up our butt.
  20. I will continue to update this as I go through the house. There will be lots more coming! Shipping is at the buyers expense. Items sold on a first come first serve basis. Daiwa Great Lakes Wire Trolling Rods. Bottom rod in pic below. Model GL862MF-WL - $150 Castle X Modular Snowmobile Helmet. Model is the EXO-CX950. Size XXXL
  21. I'm all for closing the Salmon River until November 1st. If Salmon are managed for the Lake I want the best of the best getting to that hatchery. For years all we've gotten were the scraps that made it through, and even then those fish were harassed and stressed beyond belief. Closing the Salmon River (the river that supplies 95% of our eggs and stocking numbers) just makes sense. Other than one small town nothing else will be affected. Canadian tribs are closed, and I don't see the town's on those tribs struggling. We'd need less of a DEC presence to write tickets that don't even get convicted, the big Trout wouldn't get ripped out prematurely by the Salmon crowd, the river would be cleaner, and there'd be more food in the system for those Trout. There's wins for both crowds by shutting that place down. I don't think we'd have a problem getting Canada's 100,000+ members of their Sportfishing/outdoors counsel to jump on board, and I don't know many, if any, Lake guys who'd be against it. Especially, after the stupid Steelhead regulation goes through. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. #fakenews There are many lazy captains between Rochester and Sodus that will not drive a half mile over Lake Trout to catch a Salmon. LOL
  23. You're correct in June and early July, but get into August and September when thermoclines are 60-80' down in the Western Basin (much deeper on the eastern) and you'd be surprised how deep the Steelhead go. Last September we fished offshore all month and pulled Steelhead down 60-90' all month.
