  1. Why wouldn't they be? It's Labor day weekend in a few days. Kiss the season goodbye in a few weeks. I have seen more bait the last few weeks at the Oak offshore. Most are small pods. That being said I trolled a small area consisting of a few square miles. I still trust the 3 boats trawling data over what I saw this year.
  2. Have you tried trolling on Medium CHIRP? It's a much wider angle.
  3. 24th - Fished the last double of the season today. In the morning we had a group of Walleye captains from Ohio, and on the afternoon trip we had Dave and his son from the Albany area. Landing ratio wasn't good in the morning. We cleaned 9, tossed a couple back, and dropped as many.. On the afternoon trip we landed 11. Best screen was 26-28N. We caught mostly 1 and 2 year old fish (Skippy to 15lbs). Our deep meat rigs were our best program on both charters. The new Crush Butcher pulling Pacific Herring from Familiar Bite was our best paddle. Spoons that went today were Shelly Snack, Geezer, and Rod Father. The deep meat riggers took fish from 100-175' down. The spoon riggers took fish 45-60' down. Divers and coppers took a couple shots, but our Cannon Downriggers were our studs! 25th - Our last charter of the season on the Yankee Troller was successful! We punched 4 tickets and headed back to the dock by lunch. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we never hooked a mature fish. All we could buy were one and two year olds. Today, it was a great mix of mature and immature Salmon. We started on the 24N line and trolled North. We had a pick most of the way, but 27-29N was where it was at for us. Shelly Snack on our Cannon Downrigger and 300' A-TOM-MIK copper were good in the morning. Familiar Bite meat on the Downriggers and Wires kicked in good once the sun came up. Downriggers were parked from 50-100', and wires went from 150-200'. We also took a few fish on a FishUSA 10 color Stealthcore pulling a Warrior Spearmint spoon, and the 200' copper pulling a Team Dreamweaver NBK SS. 4. You don't necessarily need planer boards for fishing BT this time of year. Find where 55-65* meets bottom and go to work.
  5. Lets be honest. It's almost the end of August. We generally start to see some transition early August and by the end of the month most are more than half way converted. Heck, some Salmon have already ran the Salmon River.
  6. I didn't say we're in the clear, but that's typically where these fish hang.
  7. Well, we finally had to leave the inside waters with last weeks flip. Saturday we tossed back 4 skippers and cut up about 8 silver 2yr olds. I'd say the lack of immature fish in everyone's catches is from the amount of mature fish that have been close to shore.
  8. Straight Slam Fest Today! This bachelor party from Erie, PA punched 6 tickets with us this morning while we generated over 30 bites for them! East wind over the last few days flipped the lake and forced us offshore where the more stable waters were. Our Cannon Downriggers were firing at 40, 50, & 60'. All had sliding cheaters on them. Spoons that went consistently were Salmon Candy, Shelly Snack, and NBK. 10 colors of FishUSA Stealthcore pulled a Team Dreamweaver Hot Tip NBK SS, and 200' of A-Tom-Mik Mfg. copper pulled a Geezer. We took a few shots on a 300' copper with Familiar Bite Atlantic Herring, but we never landed any of those fish. Our divers were quiet this morning, but when they did go they were out 125' on a 2.5 setting. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. We've installed a Garmin Reactor on a twin 300hp Robalo this Spring and a SIMRAD AP on a twin 300hp Pursuit a few years back. Both with type 2 pumps.
  10. They beat them up pretty good in 70-130' all day yesterday.
  11. August 11: Great day on Lake Ontario with this group from Central Pennsylvania. One fella's biggest fish ever was a sunfish, so battling a 20lb King Salmon was something he's never done and boy did he enjoy it! Big guy today was just shy of 24lbs taken on Familiar Bite. We started in 150' of water and trolled NW to 300'. We had a decent screen, but we took mostly 2yr old Salmon and Steelhead. Received a call from my buddy Tom Boddy that there was a good chew in shallower, so we trolled South into 105-135' and put a hurting on matures! Our normal meat rigs kind of rotted today, so with the high sun we tried some new rigs. That new Familiar Bite De Javu Whip Flasher was [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91][emoji91][emoji91] [emoji91]! Hot spoon today was FishUSA Glow Roy Boy by Team Dreamweaver, as well as Shelly's Snack. Our Cannon Downriggers were firing from 70-115'. Divers early were good at 175', but later in the day 225-250'. A-Tom-Mik Mfg. coppers in a 300' & 400' length each took fish. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Great flasher! Love mine.
  13. When pulling flashers on divers we use 25lb McCoy Mean Green. With a proper drag you should have no issues. I can't say we've ever been cracked off becasue of our leader. I will add one thing. Mono stretches. Fluorocarbon doesn't.
  14. We have some techs that stay on throughout the winter and others that take a few months off. You Can discuss that during the interview process. If interested I can forward you the phone number to set up an interview.
  15. Airmar just dropped this this transducer, and I like that they are going wider with the cone angle. Right now it's only made in a transom model, but they have thru-hull options on the drawing board. http://www.airmar.com/uploads/PressRelease/PressRelease-TM165HighWideTransducer.pdf

Experience is preferred and specific training is available. Tools are required and basic computer knowledge and skills are needed. Manufacturer service training provided. Position will include competitive pay based on experience.
  17. Summer Tightline event: Our team took 9th at the Summer The King of Kings Shootout on the North Shore this weekend. Boy are there some big fish on the Canadian side! Congrats to Moby Nick Fishing Charters on the win! We had absolutely nothing in practice on Friday. A good buddy Mike Rumig tipped us off to what was going down on the North shore, and we went to work. We fished the Pickering area today in 40-70' of water, and deployed our Familiar Bite tipped meat rigs. We ran Ballyhoo, Atlantic, and Pacific Herring today. All took fish. We had a hot 50' diver in the morning, and a productive 200' A-Tom-Mik Mfg. copper later in the day. We ground out 12-15 bites and fished almost as clean as you can. It was great seeing our North shore friends, and as always the event was run as good as it gets. 8/4 @ the Oak: We had a couple of father and son groups from Western New York out with us this morning. We didn't think the wind forecast was that bad, but Lady O built fast. 3 out of 5 crew members fell victim to the rough seas and contributed their internals to the lake. We started our North troll at the 25N line and it was gang busters right out of the gate. We ran spoons on all three Cannon Downriggers (Green Shorts, UV Two Face Glow, and Sea Sick Waddler) down 40-75'. Couldn't keep them in the water! We had a spoon diver going at 200' on a 2.5 setting pulling a Carbon 14, and a 125' diver on a 2 setting pulling Familiar Bite Ballyhoo. The 300' A-Tom-Mik Mfg. copper was also pulling FB Ballyhoo with success. We cut the trip short after the little guy got sick fighting the last fish. The group can't wait to do it again, but hopefully with better weather. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Let's be honest the only creeks and rivers conducive to spawning on our side is the Salmon River. Canada closes down their systems, and those put at least half of the naturals into this lake. So, we're good there! As for the cuts and lack of naturals the data showed we needed them. I don't care what you see on your fish finders when it comes to bait. I'd rather see a lack of them and our forage levels get a break. Now we can pound on the Steelies and Brown Trout to piss off the stream guys!
  19. July 27 morning: No shortage of action for this group up from Williamsport, PA. Rock Marshall brought up his son and some friends to experience Lake Ontario Salmon fishing, and they got spoiled! The morning bite was uncontrollable! Familiar Bite meat was going steady on our 70 & 80' Cannon Downriggers, and out 175-225' on our divers. It was tough getting our junk lines in with the action, but we eventually did. However, they didn't do much for us only going 1/4 on them. Spoons that took hits today were a carbon 14, Green Nuke, Gold 42, and UV Beefeater. Cleaned a 5 man limit of Salmon, 1 Lake Trout, and lost double digits. Biggest today was 21lbs, but a lot of nice 15-18lb fish got cleaned. July 27 afternoon: Last night we had a local family from Rochester, NY. Started the trip off with a bang boxing a 24lb Salmon, and then picked away at them the rest of the night. Familiar Bite Atlantic Herring and Ballyhoo accounted for all our bites. Our Cannon Downriggers at 50, 70, and 85'. Wire divers out 175-250'. July 28th: BLOODBATH bite this morning, but when Mike Avilla and family come up they always strike it right! It took us 30+ bites to get our 12 by 9am. We had Familiar Bite Ballyhoo on one side and Atlantic Herring on the other. Cannon downriggers down 70 & 85'. Wires out 175-200'. 300' A-Tom-Mik Mfg. coppers pulling a NBK spoon and a Team Dreamweaver Lucky Charms Cut Plug took fish as well. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I think the MC Rockets have better glow, but I like the thickness of the metal strip in the SOCO strip. I think it will last longer, and not get as bent up as a rocket.
  21. I've caught Salmon on Atlantic Herring, Pacific Herring, Alewife, and Balyhoo. Oh yea, I love running MC Rockets and I've recently ran a SOCO Baits strip. It comes down to the roll more than what's in the head.
