With bay rats having been the hot ticket and now no longer a thing, what is everyone’s go to stick baits that are actually being manufactured!

Looking to stock up for the coming season and just wondered what people preferred.

Pay attention to my YouTube page Sunday night. I've collaborated with FishUSA to bring out some good Brown Trout colors in a proven bait.

That being said Bay Rats and Smithwick Rattlin Rogues (floaters) are my two go to's.

  2. I sell both brands mentioned. We sell them on package deals (with boats), and loose. I've been in this business since the Summer of 2018 and I don't think I can fill up a hand with fingers on the warranty claims against these engines combined. To be honest the warranty claims I can remember were from I/O boat engines.

Clayton Marine sells a lot of Yamaha's. I believe you're in good hands. If anyone else is in the market for a re-power we have financing options if needed.

I was looking forward to meeting you Yankee at the Niagara show as I need a new depth finder setup and was looking for your insight and knowledge  on what to get on my megar budget and the show specials you had . Sorry to here you won't be there .

You can always reach out to me at Krenzer Marine. I wish I was going to Niagara as well, becasue I'd be around a lot more of "my kind of people," but the day job comes first.

I would add that it can be more difficult to get things running right when you mix things up. Running meat effectively highly relates to running it at the right speed so that the bait is rolling right. When you add spoons to the mix it is important to know which spoons to use so that they run at compatible speed with the bait. Often the effective running speed for meat rigs is considerably slower than that for many spoons and different also than other attractors such as flashers and dodgers. Just something to be aware of. Direction of current can also be a complicating factor.

You are way over thinking running meat. We'll run meat daily with whatever brand spoon we want. Sometimes we have flasher/fly's out there and sometimes plugs while running meat.

The nice thing about the fake meat I posted about is you can tailor the roll to whatever speed you're trolling. So don't tailor your spread to the meat. Tailor your meat to your spread.

  5. I have (5) 15lb Titan downrigger weights and (2) Willie T's pancake style downrigger weights I'd like to sell. Some have never seen water. When I emptied my boat out after it sold I found all of these in there. I clearly don't need this many.

I would rather not ship. I work in Sodus and live in Rochester. However, I will ship at the buyers expense.

    15lb Titan - $75ea (Normally retail for $100)

    20lb WIllie T's - $75ea

  6. Sure, where are you located? If you're not too far from Sodus Point we can handle that. I have a great installer, and I understand the products. It might be easier to chat. You can call me at the marina.

  7. One of my distributors has the dual spectrum in stock. I can drop ship it to you. They list for $3900. I can sell it for $3800+tax if you'd like. If interested give me a call at Krenzer Marine.

I know this can be done, I'm just not sure how. I have a 19 foot tracker with s 82lb trolling motor, no kicker. Anyone got any tricks or tips?

    Justin

I do it all the time in my Lund, but without a kicker or using your main engine to propel the boat the battery will last a couple of hours at most. I use the kicker to get me close to the speed I want and then put my Minn Kota prop speed at 4-4.5 to give me good steerage.

  9. I installed a new one on a 27' Robalo two weeks ago. They have definitely made some improvements. Which model are you looking for? I can check availability, and drop ship it.

  10. Make sure the power wire going to the pump isn't run with your transducer wire. We had a an install and found out the hard way. If every time your AP pump runs you get interference chances are those two wires are run together. Separate them and you should be fine.

How do you add a Transducer that doesn't come with the unit if the unit already come with a transducer.  the unit Im referring to does come with it's own transducer

The Striker series isn't a great series for Great Lakes fishing. The GT52HW transducer it comes with has high wide CHIRP sonar and has a power rating of 250 W, which is low. That transducer puts out a sonar cone angle that's < 24*.

The cone angle of the Airmar I mentioned above is 45* and has a power rating of 600w. These transducers have been staples on the Great Lakes for many years. You can get them in transom or thru-hull models. For your boat I'd recommend a transom mount, which is the P66. Since you like Garmin the series just above the Striker series would be the way to go. I have 7" ECHOMAP units in stock for $440. I can pair it with the Airmar P66 for $160. If you wanted to save a few bucks you could also purchase a Garmin Dual Beam (77/200) transom mount transducer for $80 and still be ahead of the Striker you mentioned. Both transducers I mentioned are traditional sonar transducers and no fancy side/down imaging, which isn't needed for trolling the Great Lakes.
