  1. Call Sure Strike charters out of Rochester and ask him. He loved those clips for his pinned cheaters, but big kings and big nasty chromers will eventually cost you gear. The rubber band will break or slide down the line not causing any damage or friction to your line. Also, with the rubberband you still have your swivel attached to the main line. With the clip there will be friction as it slides down the line, and if it does fail there goes the fish with your lure in it's mouth. I fished a tourney this weekend against a lot of GREAT anglers. I heard countless stories at weigh in about lost and broken fish. In the end it comes down to the little things that make a BIG difference in getting that fish to the net. I'm not putting something in the water that has the ability to fail me. St. Catherines tourney we went 6/6 on Spring Kings. WHI we went 7/8 on Spring Kings. In practice we went 1/1, 2/4, and 4/4 on Spring Kings. The little things mean BIG results. Again, this is just my opinion, but I want to see you guys with nice fish pictures. No lost spoons and heartbreak.
  2. Don't waste your time with clips. JUST USE A RUBBERBAND. I've see too many guys lose big fish using those clips. In the Spring prior to thermoclines setting up we use sliders exclusively except on our chase rigger. Once the Thermoclines set up we will go to a pinned cheater to keep both spoons near the zone. This doesn't mean sliders wont work in the Summer. There are always fish out of temp, so like everything else in our sport take everyone's opinion lightly, and do what works for you.
  3. I'd love to come East. One thing I want to get better at is Summer Brown Trout, and that program is definitely East of where we fish. Problem is July and August are our busiest months for chartering. LOL....good stuff. It wasn't easy in there.
  4. Wednesday we went 1/1 on Salmon. Thursday we went 2/4 on Salmon. Both days fishing the drop. Water warmed up Thursday a little so we fished 6mile to 4mile Friday and went 4/4 on Salmon. Worked the same area Saturday and went 7/8 on Salmon. In my experience when the salmon bite starts on the bar it seems like the bigger fish are always on the leading edge spreading out as the water warms. The bar will generally hold numbers, which wasn't the case Saturday, but the bigger fish will be deeper (North) or further east. Case and point being the second place team. They fished out front of Wilson and had a 25 and a 22lb salmon in their box. Sent from my XT1575 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. We had one take one of ours in Rochester, but now that we're up West no sticks are going in the water. Metal, meat, or flies!
  6. Spring KOTL - We fished our first tournament of the season, and we just missed winning it! Our Yankee Troller team took 2nd place in the event, 1st place in the high performance Calcutta division, and 2nd place in the Saturday Calcutta. We landed on a good spot just West of the boarder on the Canadian side. In the first few hours we took 4 Salmon on spoons. Our last two Salmon we ground out on Familiar Bite meat. One off our Cannon downrigger, and another on a 600' A-TOM-MIK copper. Wilson Harbor Invitational - We fished our second tournament of the season this weekend, and we WON it! Our Yankee Troller team took 1st place at the 2016 Wilson Harbor Invitational while running a charter. We averaged 18lbs with 6 fish. Out of 53 teams we were the only team to weigh in 6 Chinook Salmon. It was a grind all day, but we managed to go 7/8 on Kings. All came on Familiar Bite meat. Our hot set-up was a 150' diver pulling a meat rig. Excuse the lack of excitement in the following video. We were the 3rd team to weigh in, and had no clue our box was going to be as good as it was.

  10. Are they M or ML? What is the recommended line size on them? Sent from my XT1575 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I've got them sold for you. Text me. I can't find your number in my phone. Sent from my XT1575 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. I don't see it being a problem if they are fishing with you Sean.
  13. You don't want to angle it back. You will see your DR balls no problem shooting straight down. I don't have a lot of experience with transom mount ducers. Try adjusting it so it shoots down and see if that fixes it.
  14. Steve is right, but they are there and it will only get better.

  20. My rule of thumb is if my DR ball is really visible down 5' then 125-175' back, and get them boards out wide. If its kinda visible down 5' then 80-115'. Can't see the ball then you can run them as close as 50'.
  21. Next week or two should be dynamite from Olcott to the Niagara Bar. August at the Oak is another great time, the the Oak is a great "fishing port."
  22. Yes you can. Last I heard there are only 17 teams signed up for 1 K A Day. If we don't make 70 teams then there won't be $1000/day purses. We need more teams to sign up. I personally think the LOC being a week later might be hurting this event a little. Talking with Kevin this morning if we can hit 35 or 40 boats we'll get $500 out to the daily winners rather than cancel the event, so start encouraging your buddies fishing the WHI! Sitting back and waiting will do more harm.
