  1. He will be missed! Always a nice guy to talk to. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.
  2. Still playing with SI/DI, and the 2D sonar had a little too much gain in this screen shot, but here is what all the different sonars look like over some bait and fish from this weekend.
  3. Go ahead and registerSent from my XT1575 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. This marina owner makes $$$ off these fish by renting seasonal docks, and transient dockage when the tourney is in town. His decision makes no sense to me. Unless he has a solid reason as to why he wont allow it anymore I say any fisherman that supports him after pulling this stunt should be ashamed.
  5. To answer the OP question about SI and DI. It really is meant for finding structure. We've added it to the boat this year, and we've been playing with it in the shallows the last two weeks. My main reason for it was to see what side of the boat the bait was really on. I watched it work in Qunite this fall and I was very impressed. On his set-up his outboard did affect the signal, and had to be tilted up when he wanted to use it.
  6. I want you to be happy with your purchase, and a lot of people don't get as much time on the water as they would like to. I understand when you're on the water you want to fish and not play with electronics. I wrote up a very detailed post on the Humminbird settings for trolling, and it has been copied into this thread. It will work on the HELIX menu as well. For the most part if you take my settings you can set it and forget it and it'll be just fine with a tweak every now and again.
  7. Fish Finders aren't like they were back in the 80s and 90s. You'd turn them on and go fishing. They are mini computers now. If you are running your fish finder in AUTO mode then it is not working to it full potential. We're dialing ours in multiple times throughout the day. Different water columns will ping back differently. When you get good with the settings, which honestly aren't that hard if you play with them, you can really get some good data from what's below the boat. For example.....ever walk or swim through the water at the beach and your legs hit a cold pocket? Those are all over the place. If you tune your fish finder in good enough you can see those below your boat. That's how amazing these units are now. By the way you cant break these by playing with settings. There is a restore default mode that fixes everything.

  9. First King Salmon of the 2016 Lake Ontario fishing season!: https://t.co/eEeOPDhE6Q via @YouTube

  10. That front was crazy! Our Salmon hit seconds before it came through. All we could do is keep her pointed into them. Glad ya got back safely.
  11. They are a pain to store! I tried the Special Mate without the dividers, but they all got tangled and it became a mess. I went back to the plastic boxes, but this might be nice for the ones you are always using.
  12. We zig zagged from 20-35' from Braddocks back to the Genny. I was constantly playing with how much line was out. We saw about a 2:1 dive ratio with those Chinook divers. Bruce, from Hooked Up, was having a pretty good day on them and told us to put them in the water. A few times they would tick bottom once or twice and then get smashed. The Lakers were typical Lake Trout hits, but the King that nailed the diver took right off. I was one handed in a bucket relieving some of the mornings coffee. Talk about what do you do! Finish or grab another rod? Hmmmm By the way the guys with the ugly mugs in the pics above are LOU members. They were a great couple of guys (even though they are Pennsyltuckians), and I hope they caught enough fish for one weekend! LOL
  13. April 1st Afternoon We ran an afternoon charter, and fished from the Genesee River to Braddock’s. The bites came in groups. We did some great numbers, but still lacked in the size department. Our Bay Rats were going well in My Secret and Yankee Troller. We also had black and silver Smithwicks firing. We worked 8-12’ of water all night and there was great color in there. April 2nd Another great trip today! We worked the inside waters and picked away at the Brown Trout from teh ponds to Braddocks. They really liked the Bay Rat Yankee Troller and My Secret again today. Mid morning we were rewarded with our first Salmon of the season. It took a Storm Jr Thunderstick off the planer board in 12’ of water. Later in the day we slid out to 20-30’ of water. Out there we lost our second Salmon of the morning on a Chinook Diver pulling a Watermelon Stinger. It in that water we also did a bunch of Lake Trout and small Brown Trout.
  14. Just dropped King #2! Took a Chinook Diver pulling a watermelon spoon in 30' of water.

  15. That didn't take long! Blowing pretty good out here, but good ol ra cha cha is protecting us. https://t.co/ADY6xzkyoU

  16. Those look yummy!
  17. We've had great success with 25lb McCoy Mean Green. Even when we used to go to the East end, where the fleas are much more prevalent, it worked well. On the West end it seems if we get them for 2 weeks that's a long time.
  18. OK, that's how I understood it too.
  19. Jerry correct me if I'm wrong but the trawl and the hydrocustics are two different methods to measure bait density. I thought they were done separately?
  20. North East, and it's what we use.
  21. Lets hope and pray we can get this fixed! https://t.co/H3IpVLbfSi
