  1. #Daiwa rods and reels ready to do battle on #lakeontario filled with #mccoyfishingline @ Lake… https://t.co/lRomao2eEl

  2. With the exception that both boats didn't give way and pass each other I don't see the problem? I usually tell my brother to take the deeper water when coming head on with another boat in the Spring. I don't want to be pinched inside and lose gear. Some boats run 2 lines, 3 lines, and some even 4 lines off a board this time of year. Spreading those lines out gives you less chances for tangles. In clear water situations sometimes spreading them out helps get baits away from the boat to spooky fish. Are we supposed to measure our board lines and set limits on the Lake for how wide we can set them out? That's silly. Obviously, in heavy traffic situations closer is better, but that hasn't hit yet because not many boats are in the water. We weren't at Bear Creek yesterday, so I don't think you're talking about us. Saturday when we fished Hughe's to Bear Creek we hardley saw any boats.
  3. March 26th Well, our first charter is in the books! Matthew and family joined us for a day of fishing Lake Ontario, and they weren’t disappointed. We fished between Hughes Marina and Bear Creek in 10-15’ of water. They caught some serious numbers on a perfect day. Our stud stick bait was a prototype color were testing from Bay Rat. Their Brown Trout Candy was also really good. 120-125' back off the boards. On our Cannon downriggers black and silver spoons were our best even though the water was a little dirty. March 27th Easter We hope everyone had a great Easter! We took a few hours in the morning and went and did a little fun fishing with friends. We fished from Oklahoma beach to Hedges. Bite seemed off. We fished from 7:30-10:30 and took 10 or 11 shots. Everything was tiny. Biggest being 4lbs. Thunderstick JRs and Live Target Smelt were our best baits in 10' of water or less.
  4. Great 1st charter this weekend. Many fish for this father and son. @BayRatLures @CannonFishing @HumminbirdFish https://t.co/fprsntrW3a

  5. They aren't a magical bait guys. Just like some days it's one spoon color over another, or spoons are working and paddles aren't. I've had success with them, and I've had days they got out fished. It's just another tool in the tacklebox. I tend to keep them out on the outside (deep) board. They definitely dive deeper than a Thunderstick, J9, or a Smithwick. Last Sunday I had a prototype color out. We ran all Smithwicks with just one Bay Rat. It held it's own with our go to Smithwick, and it also caught the two biggest fish of the trip.
  6. BUT they catch fish!
  7. Getting that Brown Trout gear ready. We like a 15lb main line with an 8-12lb fluorocarbon leader. #mccoyfishingline https://t.co/LjrWDOGJoY

  8. All new teams to the event are put into the rookie class. There cant be more than 1 person who has previously fished a WHI on board. There is typically less than 10 teams. This year, however, we're seeing a few new teams so only time will tell.
  9. We hit our first fish in 20+ feet of water on the set-up, so they are spread out. Some good colored water out there, or was. We use 250lb Power Pro on our planer reels, and ice was not an issue for us. Casey runs small Scotty releases on shower curtains, so even if there was a little ice it would slide right over it.
  10. I fished with Casey of Dirty Goose Sportfishing and Andy from Chasin Tail Adventures. We trolled out of the chute and went as far West as Afro head. Great water off Maxwell! We fished 8-20' of water and picked away at the Trout. Bay Rats and Smithwicks off the boards, and a few spoon bites off the downriggers. We had fish to 8lbs. Great shakedown on the Dirty Goose.
  11. We use Cummins nets that we get from Slippery Sinker. We put them through hell, and they last a few years. I love the big hoop on them. The Beckmans are heavy and I'm not a fan of the round tube handle, but that's just me. Other people seem to love it.
  12. It felt great to get back out on Lady O yesterday. Boat goes in this week! First charter is Saturday! https://t.co/fsOn9Sve0c

  13. RT @BayRatLures: My Secret was a flavor of the day today. This glow color is a great producer in all four models… https://t.co/TD5HNhaEU3

  14. I was just screwing with jakey about his last post.
  15. Lot's of "what ifs" there. I've never left a FF on when I'm not on the boat, and shore power keeps my batteries charged. I would also not leave my boat if I didn't have 100% confidence in my bilge pumps. I'm GUESSING your kicker's alternator can't put out enough power to run all of that.
  16. What's wrong with wiring direct to the battery if you have an inline fuse? Most fish finders get less interference from other electronics when run direct. Also, these fish finders now a days are running huge screens and giving us many sonar/chart plotting/mapping options and these may require larger wiring. Read the manual and don't short cut the manufacturers recommendations.
  17. I know a few guys who would love to buy the business if John is interested. Please relay the message.
  18. See......just a cool factor!
  19. Not sure who "pro staffs" for an underwater light company, but if we're talking about the same person their word and experience is about as bad as it gets. We used my buddies green under water lights while night trolling. We left them on, and we got bit the whole time we were out there. Alewife would swim though the light from time to time. It was cool. I can tell you it made netting easier. I haven't used them in shallow to answer your question.
  20. For Humminbird their DI frequency is 455 and 800.
  21. If this guy has under water lights he'd do better in tourneys. Seriously!
  22. They are just a cool factor
