  1. Just so you guys know MOOR closed it's doors. You can read their message below. http://moorelectronics.com/index.html Moving forward I will continue to use the MOOR on our boat, but I will be installing a Smart Troll on the Yankee this season. I used it on a friends boat last season, and I was really impressed. When we were using it we were fishing Spring Salmon East of Rochester. We were able to keep the divers a few feet off bottom, and our divers were firing well this way. Having the data about where that diver was really helped us. It's interesting to see how the divers were affected on turns as well. This same boat also noticed dive curve variations during summer when there was current involved. Direction of Troll in current affects dive curve as we all know, but with the data he was able to adjust his divers to get them back into the strike zone. I'll let you guys know more once I start using the system, but having that data can put a fish or two more in the boat IMHO.
  2. I've pulled big 3' long boards and double keel otters with my Big Johns, and thy have never let me down, but when I do it again I will be buying a set of Ciscos.
  3. The Niagara Pro Am was just announced. Taking on a new format. Here's the info. https://t.co/tIb55YHKWV

  4. Team #yankeetroller will be sporting some fresh #uafish gear on the #tournament trail in 2016!… https://t.co/qPFTNb6r1y

  5. This fish was caught the first Spring we fished on the Trojan. The reason this fish takes "best fish" to me is because the colors and hues on it are amazing! This fish was flawless with no scars or lamprey markings. It also went back to Lady O to fight another day. This one is a close second! Brown Trout are the prettiest fish in Lake Ontario!
  6. Once everyone that fished it last year get an invite we fill the open slots with new entries. We didn't have a full field last year, so If you want one we can get one out to you.
  7. Guys.....just realize you're trying to sell this guy on a nice rod when he's using a Catfish Ugly Stick (not joking) for his wire divers! Sorry Bruce....I couldn't help it!
  8. They make that with two different tilted elements. You need to figure out the dead rise of your boat, and then pick the one with the closest tilted element. I'm gonna say that's probably the one though. I'm fairly certain mine is the B45. Thru hull or transom is personal preference.
  9. The one Vince is chatting up is an AIRMAR B60 or SS60 (B = Bronze SS = Stainless Steel). These are great for a boat that goes on a trailer. We had one on our Bayliner that went to our Humminbirds, and it was a great ducer. We opted for a thru-hull with a fairing block on the Trojan. Whether or not your eye can tell the difference between the two is up for debate, but talking to the guys at AIRMAR they say you'll get a little better picture with a fairing block ducer. If you do go AIRMAR you'll want to stick with a ducer with 600w of power. Bigger isn't better here (1000w ducer). Going to 1000w gets you narrower beams on each frequency. To be honest if you want to run a transom mount ducer I've heard multiple people rave over the one that comes with them from Humminbird.
  10. I remember that beast!
  11. I've seen a few Kings taken on the bar in recent weeks besides this one. Gets the blood flowing. Although I'll disagree with Paul on the Spring fishery this past season I'll agree with his assessment about the rest of the year, and the fact the numbers are way down. We can sit here and debate why they are, but I think we've had enough of that in other threads. The truth of the matter is we wont truly know until September if we're right or not. In the meantime lets all hope for a better season!
  12. It's really simple. Just make the call and get your arrival #, or be turned around because someone was denied. This goes for both countries. We are fortunate to go across with the same team every year. We do it 4 times a year. The phone call lasts less than 5 minutes, and that's because on record in Canada they have my boat reg# and the people who have come across with me. It's always the same boat and the same people. I'd imagine new people and a new boat would take 10 minutes for the phone call to end. The b**ch is coming back to the US. That's where the video phone is involved. The crotchety guy sitting and answering that phone makes you pay for his services with his amazing attitude by keeping you on the phone for 20-30 minutes. Nothing is on record so they input new info into their system every time, and they need to speak with each individual that came back across. We follow the rules and never get our chops busted. It's just a way of life now.
  13. Grabbed a 120 miles between last night and this morning. Need more snow! #tughill @PolarisSnow https://t.co/S6fMUdX0yc

  14. Yeah Vinny, Paul and I chatted recently. A few people have brought this up to us from last year, and for all of our KOTO tourneys your team will only be allowed to weigh 1 Lake Trout per event.
  15. Nice job guys! I'm jealous! BTW....Boy are the three of you UGLY! LOL See ya up West in the Spring!
  16. The @BayRatLures guys are bringing back the Billy Baroo! Some say it was an awesome BT plug. We'll see come spring! https://t.co/MqB1r2o9lk

  19. Not sure it's finalized yet, but this is what I heard was proposed. Friday May 20th - Full field Saturday May 21st - Full field Sunday May 22nd - Top 10 teams No second event this year.
  20. Have been running these for 7 years. I've been on boats using all the other manufacturers, and you won't see anything else on my boat. If you have any specific questions ask away. FYI......If you want to read sonar on plane you need to go with a thru-hull transducer. I have a tutorial on here for settings we've found to work for us - http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/52046-humminbird-sonar-settings-for-models-7xx-8xx-9xx-11xx/?hl=11xx
