  1. What a shame they discontinued that line up. I'm sure the new line-up is just as good, but I haven't had a chance to play with them. http://www.daiwa.com/rod/detail.aspx?id=678
  2. Then you throw in my operation where you get 2 captains, and no first mate. That always throws a client for a loop.....lol. In our scenario it all goes into the same bank account.
  3. RT @HumminbirdFish: Real time sonar information allows you to see how fish are responding to bait, jig strokes or other vertical motions ht…

  4. It's a wrap folks! 2015 is in the books. Thank you for joining us for a day of fishing n we hope to see you n 2016. http://t.co/6Ga3n9AlLT

  5. If you fish Rochester and run a @HumminbirdFish check out the #lakemaster charts. Crazy detail! http://t.co/ZvWo9JoiRs

  6. Third year in a row we've made the Great Lakes Angler magazine! #verycool #greatteameffort http://t.co/526vN2AbN6

  7. Maybe that's just what you need to cash a check in a tourney! That hull helped Rob.....
  8. Yup, I attend 2 of the 3 State of the lake meetings every year. I know they also stocked excess Steelbow over the course of a few years as well.
  9. I'm not in Rochester enough to see that, and I haven't, but the flock on the North shore around the Toronto Islands is about the worse flock I;ve ever seen. The reduction was due to them not being able to hit their target stocking numbers due to the Vermont hatchery getting a "slimy rock" (don't quote explanation of this) organism in there hatchery system during a flooding period. It had to be closed down for a period of a few years. So, we scratched for different Lake Trout breeds all over the NE and Canada to put in what we could. Stocking target levels for Lake Trout are 500,000. They have increased that to 800,000 in an attempt to try to get a better natural reproducing effort from the Lake Trout. Again, my argument is if they found room for 300,000 more LTs, why not use that space in the stocking program for Kings or Steelbows considering that's what drives this fishery 12mos out of the year.
  10. Vince and Jerry can attest to this, but until you fish off the Toronto Islands you have never seen Cormorants like they have up there! You will see the same flock flying by your boat for 5 maybe 10 minutes. That's how many of them are up there. When that bait is pushed up on top of that ledge it's game on and they know how to work it!
  11. Yea, but they're "Pros." For sure I'd do as they say.
  12. Never did I say they didn't stock Kings 3yrs ago. Here's what I am saying: - If there is room for 300,000 more Lake Trout in the system why not use that space in the plan for Salmon. It was OK to add more Steelhead over the last 5 years due to surplus hatches. I'm guessing the system can handle more of a fish that's lifespan is much shorter. - I fished over a lot of bait in Western Lake Ontario the last two seasons with not much on it. - We witnessed lamprey wounds on over 75% of the Salmon we caught. How quick does a Lamprey kill a fish, and what methods can we change to help control these. As for the Steelhead in my opinion the die off last Fall was worse than we initially thought. I travel to a large percentage of this lake and fish out of many ports. I have a very large network of fisherman on both shores. The Steelhead fishing was poor everywhere with the exception of a week here and a week there. This fishery started as an experiment back in the days to help with an alewife population that was out of control. It turned into a billion dollar fishery. A fishery driven by Salmon 6mos of the calendar, and Steelhead for the other 6mos. Take care of what pays the bills. Not something you want to re-establish (Lake Trout), or a pipe dream (Atlantics).
  13. I stayed outside the pack most of the morning because I was running solo with a buddy and his kid and didn't want to get in the gauntlet. Plus I knew the charter guys were trying to produce for their clients. I had 4 in-lines out with 1 cores. 3/4 came on these. 100' back on the counter then 75-125' out on the planer. I like the in-lines this time of year for the pure action they put into the lure. Also, when the sun gets high that's when I'll put the silver bullets in the water, Glow stuff before that. Good luck out there! Still a lot of fish to come in.
  14. 1-3 color cores on in-lines were good for us yesterday pulling plugs if it helps.
  15. I apologize for the lack of reports, but most of August and September was terrible. What a struggle it has been to put target species in the boat consistently for clients in any sort of numbers. I wont say more as there are a few threads on the site already discussing this. Saturday - Last charter of the season. Checked the waters at the mouth of the Genesee River, and it was loaded with Salmon. The problem was the water was dirty from the wind backing up the Genny flow. We tried it for an hour or two and never hooked into one, and didn't see anyone else hook into one. We headed to shipbuilders and set in in 40' of water. It was cold! Slid into 20-30' and found a great screen. Fished it for a few hours and pulled 4 keeper Brown Trout out of it. We also tossed back 3 small ones and lost 4 small ones. They really wanted a spoon with a white or glow cup on it. Our slide divers out 40-50 on a 3 setting and our 5 color stealth core were best. We ended the day with some Lake Trout. Sunday - Took a buddy and his son out fishing for the morning. The bite was on in front of the Genny! We did 4 matures and a skipper by 9am. All of which came on Stealth Core pulling DW Captains Choice plugs. Best colors were Lucky Charms and Glow Green off in-lines. Our last bite was on a Bloody Lip J-PLug. Best speeds for us were 1.8-2.0 on our Moor. After getting tangled with another boat at 9:30am, and listening to a kid who just wanted to catch fish I made the decision to run to Laker land. We tired the kids arms out on lake Trout for a few hours before we headed in for lunch.
  16. I'm not doubting the intelligence of the biologist. All I'm saying is if you found room in the ecosystem for 300,000 more Lake Trout why not swap that out for Salmon? Lets be honest. Salmon and Steelhead are the fish that drive this fishery, AND that's the smarter choice when trying to keep the balance of a predator/prey ratio in my honest opinion. I can go out and get a 6 man limit of Lake Trout in under an hour right now. Do we really need more?
  17. Decent salmon bite this morning at the Genesee River. All plugs for us on leadcore. http://t.co/FLjaaCyCxI

  18. Tough salmon bite this morning, but the Brown Trout are hungry. 20-35' of water off Irondequoit. http://t.co/OeDVOkAlXA

  19. They are a heck of a machine! Very reliable!
