  3. Nice fish Adam thanks for sharing....... we haven't been out ourselves lately as weather this past weekend was tough. Hope to get out a few more times before season ends. This is my favorite time of year for hog huntin' Chad

  8. Awesome fish! That is what the islands are famous for - congrats!
  9. Awesome choo-choo!!! Congrats on great fish and it was a pleasure getting to meet you up there at muskies in meeting.
  10. Thanks again to both Darryl and Capt. Bob for the presentation they put on at the Muskies Inc. meeting - awesome underwater video footage and historic info about the area was shared. I really enjoyed the lively discussion and amazing mounts that Capt. Bob was kind enough to bring. It was great getting to meet some of the musky guys from the famed St. Larry and I hope to be returning soon! Your fishery is second to none IMHO.
  11. The guys here at LOU, members of Muskies Inc and our friends of the Niagara Musky Association all support the practice of catch release and that can't be stressed enough. Remember that muskies are "long-life" fish (i.e., a 45-inch Tiger and/or 50+" pure) can be 10-15 (tigers) years old and 20-25 (pures) years old. An adult salmon is replaceable in only 2-years, not so for these ESOX species. Kill a trophy pure and that fish won't be replaced for 20-25 years down the road.... to this day, my grandmother can not understand why I release every fish I catch as this was an unheard of practice back in her day. Angler education is why musky fishing is as good today as it has ever been. "Table fare" fish are easily replaceable (2-years or less) and grown on fish farms..... not over the course of 20-25 years. Efforts like educational signage proposed by Justin above are awesome and go a long way in helping sustain trophy fisheries. Anyways, I digress from the original topic point but thought it important enough to bare repeating and hope that all members here support practices that help preserve the fishery for our future generations.
  12. Hi Brent - Welcome to LOU! As a rule of thumb for musky fishing....... the later in the season it gets, the better the fishing gets. This is regardless of the waters your fishing (Chautauqua, Niagara, Islands, or smaller inland lakes). Water clarity will get slowly get better as temps drop and fish start putting on their pre-winter feed. I'll spend most of my time late November fishing Chautauqua or up in 1000 Islands region hunting giants. This of course assumes that I can get permission from the wife to sneak out for a day. Good luck - Chad
  13. Welcome aboard Mike - glad to have you!
  14. Awesome idea guys........ Angler Education is key to long term success and these signs are a great step in the right direction! Would love to see this sort of thing implemented in more waters around the state.
  15. Nice report Old Man - thanks for sharing. Cautauqha kicked our butts as well. We had scrappy 30" fish at 8:00am in the morning that we lost boat side and then proceeded to wash lures the rest of the day. Couldn't even manage to get a follow - fishing was definitely pretty slow that day. Threw everything we had in the box at em' and no dice for our team. That is just how musky fishing goes sometimes.
  16. Nice fattie Adam
  17. Inspiring story Vince - congrats to you and Mark both!!!
  18. Thanks for the kind words everyone - much appreciated! Steve - fish was caught weekend before tournament.
  19. Nice thick eye Tracy Way to go!!
  20. Nice pike Up-trim! I'll be heading up to the Islands in a couple weeks - can't wait!
  21. Had a great time (as always) fishing in the Mark Troy memorial tournament headed by Jim Renolds (Mr. Toothy) and Capt. Ed Cragg (Reel Rippin' Charters). There was a good turnout for the event but the fishing proved to be pretty tough. 9 fish we boated total with the top three being 42", 41" and 36". Congrats to buddy Mike for 2nd place finish after winning the event last year. My boat was short one guy when buddy Joe came down with terrible flu/cold so we had to call in the super sub - my father! It was great being out there with him and my brother and that time on the water with family is something that I really treasure. Our team was able to boat 4 fish - 42", 33", 32" and 32" and lost a couple more. Dad caught this scrappy 32" on a Bob Fuller painted Jerkbait. Brother got this 33" fish on Leo Jerkbait 42" Fish on Lunge Lumber. My favorite part of this picture if my father's tackle box in the background that you can see being held together by wire springs. He has had this tackle box for at least 30 years now... haha I have musky lures bigger than that old box. For those of you who haven't fished in the Mark Troy tournament, its a great time and relaxed atmosphere that I'd highly recommend. The lake itself is still very murky with low visibility and will need another couple weeks to setup better IMHO. Lately I've been getting more and more reports from friends down on Chautauqua who have been doing very well to say the least. We will be heading down there next weekend for the Muskies Inc. tournament - should be fun! On a different note, I was able to sneak out there earlier that same week and catch a new personal best for me. I got this fish on the figure-8 boat side.... he followed the lunge around eight times before deciding to strike - it was the coolest thing ever to watch in person that close! She was pretty thick fish 51.5" new personal best for me Another one I got that same day earlier in the morning fog... Sorry I haven't been able to post as much as the new baby is taking up most time these days and limiting my time on the water. Hope to get some fall fishing in though as baby Charlotte finally slept all the way through the night for the first time this week!! Wooohoo!! Hope to see everyone next weekend down on Chautauqua and I hope you feel better soon Joey!!
  22. Perfect shot...... very nice
  23. Nice fish fbg!! There is nothing like a boat side strike like that
  24. Thanks for feedback on this issue guys. I will look more into what it could be - sounds like specific to certain versions of Internet Explorer.
