  2. Nice !!!!!
  3. Bobber I been into some "light" biters lately and find a flick of the wrist hook-set is some times needed to keep them on........not a bass style.......just a wrist set.....now I'm talking rigger fish that are on there but still swiming with the lure in there mouth and didn't trip the release you see the rod unload then drop back down and maybe bounce a bit......get on the rod pop it free from the release reel like crazy........feel the weight of the fish....then the wrist set..............1/2 the time when there like this I don't even get a piece of them.....
  4. Thanks guys..................we got back out about 12:45pm three of us a little lumpy kept battery door open.... .....most of the time and no problems..... .....same area as last night ......bait was gone as well as the fish so we moved in----then out but didn't find then.......went a bit frather south ......picked up a small laker and a FAT 14" brown he was happy to get back in the water.....area was full of weeds so we went back north.......picked up a legal landlock and a small laker then area was full of weeds.......decided to try east side...... not much better for weeds......lost a nice laker when it did the head roll and two or three light biters that we didn't hook up on............lost the handle from one of my Tecka 600lc over the side..... .....small screw fell out some time letting the nut loosen up handle , nut and small screw were gone found the small plate that screw goes in..............picked lakers up 57' down , brown 47' landlock 41'.............
  5. ..........hook file.......glade you got out on the water.........sorry the fishies won..... ....
  6. Seneca 7/28/2011 Hoot showed up this morning so I asked him if he want to go out fish'n..... .......when we got boat in water saw the probe rigger wire was loose so we worked on that one the water..... ........had to cut 80' off to get the mess taken care of.... ..my bad on this I have my one big bumper hooked too close to the switch on the down rigger and it must have bumped it last night... ......so over we go to the honney-hole............smell something... ...like HOT wires......... ......open battery box.. ......SMOKE.... .....turn off everything but the motor.... ...still smoke.... .....unhooked the + power from the extra batter going to the main battery..... .....smoke stopped........ .........headed in............. .........was just working on for a while..............I think I have it.............. .........
  7. Seneca 7/27/2011 Tried a evening bite with Don from the camp he’s a copper puller and likes to troll with me a few times a year………..we have a stiff NW wind so I headed across got lumpier as we went. We had three riggers in the water with spoons by 5:30pm at 6:45 pm we pulled lines. We boxed 4 landlocks and a rainbow. Lost a nice landlock at the net. Also landed a small 8†rainbow and lost something heavy after about 4 cranks on the reel………all three spoons took fish best was 41’ down , 51’ and 57’ also took fish…… they were still hitting good when we left but we had a blast and it was time for two ole farts nappy………….LOL ....... even got all three rods jammed with weeds on last pass but for the most part they were not bad in the area we fished........
  8. You know Andy I didn't even put the X4 in the water today !!!! All that money and never got it wet !!!!! Thanks for taking the time to write all this down and Post it up to HELP folks out..... ..... ...
  9. I've had a subtroll 900 for 8 year or better , the probe went so do I fix it or...............I bought a X4 asked for some help on here for install .....got enough..... put it on and so far so good !!!!......sub troll was good to me .......the coated cable got to be a pain....... the X4 will run on any cable and pick your rigger......I picked the one closest to the transducer.....
  10. Seneca 7/26/2011 Solo today , had both lines in the water at 7:30am two riggers with spoons…….trying the McCoy line to see how it works against fleas and the Dreamweaver snap/swivels. Nothing going so pulled lines and change out spoons deep rigger rod had loaded up with fleas but they came off real easy………..put down a FF with rod loaded up with McCoy Mean Green 25# and my normal spoon rigger rod………..had a two hits on the FF rig but new rod didn’t have enough back bone to help set hook. Whuppin’stick (wst8l-2) should be a good one for spoons and planner board not for FF……..the McCoy green 25# did as good as my Ande line no better no worst but price wise I’ll stick with the Ande. JFYI I buy , paid for this stuff so I’m not……. Well you know what I mean…I realy like the Dreamweaver snap/swivels hope they hold up better than the shampo’s ….Weeds were less than the other day , flea’s were no problem using 30# or 25# McCoy………did boated 3 landlocks and a laker…put one landlock back was just 15â€â€¦..…two misses on the ff rig down 67’ back 8’ fire-dot BTI with matching fly………..landlocks on spoons and the laker also……….37’ took two and 51’ took two and one wrapped the line around the rigger and was gone by the time I brought the cannon ball up……….pulled up lines at 11:45am………North of long point is fishable now but has a lot of single weeds so you will be working to fish that area I was still south of the stacks………………the middle of the lake looked semi-full of weeds the lines were thin but lots of them…….as I got off lake it BLEW UP and some heavy wind out of the NW………..could clear out the area north of long point !!!!!!
  11. Thanks for the report I gave you a shout on 68.....called for 711.....maybe next time........I had a weed free area with bait but could not get them going.....on the water at 6ish and off by 11am.....

  16. Andy I had a fresh laker ( still swiming in the livewell) that I cleaned yesterday and looked on here for a idea........ I already had three LL and a bow soaking in brown sugar to grill.......any way I took your idea and used what I had..............Kens SteakHouse ( I like the butter milk better) ranch dressing , then the fish with more on top , onions , tomatoe....a little more dressing and salt pepper.............put it on the rack on the grill while I was doing the LL/bow..........man o man it came out great.........THANKS for the idea !!!!
  17. ........ ...... WTG
  18. Seneca 7-24-2011 Up at 5:30am and raining it backed off and we were on the water around 7ish. Thought the west side would be a good bet on the weeds and it was they are stacked up aound the major shoals. We picked a nice laker up before we had all the lines in but being close to a shoal could not work back thru..........washed lures after that weed were not bad but keep an EYE out for the huge pods we found ONE........ ......shut us down for a while...........I see the X4 has some of the same traits as my old SubTroll 900................if ya hit a HUGE weed pod it's always on the probe rigger ........trolled back across lots of stringers and weeds in the deep water picked up one more laker and that was it...............
  19. It don't look good Mark , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LORAN
  20. I got her finished the other day when Jason was out fishing in this heat called and asked for a weed report.......did have one been on the bank for 5 days......... well we went out today about 11ish real hot......ran her checking for rostertails off any of the three ducers......look good........started up kicker and did a short troll.............X4 seem OK , 788ci quadbeam needs a small adjustment not tracking down rigger balls.........weeds were not to bad for our short trip , but there were some boat size pods around..........dropped x4 down to 40' had 65* there (first good break ).........got hot quick so I pulled lines......put stuff back........unhooked conector from main motor to kicker piece fell off and went in water 450' deep...........well about normal for me now fix three or four things and looking good....... .....some thing else breaks.............. ........
  21. Nice fish........and good down depths ?
