Proposed Region 8 Finger Lakes regs changes
ERABBIT replied to Second Chance 22's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
It's done down here , wire across steam with a sign on it as a breading/spawning area between signs no fishing or acess. How can anyone not like that idea and say they care for the fishery ????? -

ERABBIT replied to Second Chance 22's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Oh boy !!!!! ........... sounds like $20.00 well spent.............. where do I get one. -
I guy in my camp over here on Seneca fishes your pond for perch. This guys a ole timer he had the 1st trailer in the park here in the 60's is what I heard. Like you said the size dropped as the year goes on. The reg. perch guys keep tight lipper because of $$$$ guys................I always rat them out when I see a lot of trailer in the park in the middle of the week in April early May................ ..............

I run braid for deep water off my riggers and put backing (30# mono on first) then the braid. I start with two empty reels re-set line counter on 1st reel and put on braid till counter starts at 999 and back to 000. Then finish with mono noting how much is going on to finish filling reel. Then put it on the other empty reel I take 40 feet of the mono and put it off to the side , load other reel with backing and braid then and the 40' of mono that will be for my black's releases. I join the mono-braid togather using a (not sure the size right off would have to check in the boat but it goes thru the guide on to the reel no problem) ballbearing swivle. If your REAL good at knots you can use a double uni-knot to join them. Travelman told me about the swivle deal and I learned the hard way my uni-knots were OK but not for BIG fish ( thanks TM ). Anyway while your using them for divers you would leave off the first mono but add it when you went to using them for your riggers. Unless someone knows a braid freindly release.............

I don't think so not for aluminum!!! Unless they came out with some thing new !!!! That would be great because I have 2 788ci to install, that webste calls for a wooden or fiberglass hull.

Rodney... How ya been? I haven't been able to get on MY river since mid-December. I've been checking it daily.. the launch is open, but there's nowhere to fish! The prime ("secret") spots are still iced in. Hopefully in the next few days she'll start flushing it out! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris) I thought I mite see you two at the FLM last year , maybe this year.................

rr you get some sand in your you know what's............. Wow I don't like where this is heading------- feel a bit quilty now asking the dude for a report way back on 2-23-2011........ lets see if we can get some thing good out of this mess. RR when you posted I tought well here's a level headed dude , then it got to you also. Seems like we're darned if we do and darned if we keep it to our selfs. So what do you all think about a " Port - Of - Call" so to speak for the Fingers. Start a thread for Finger Lakes Contacts everyone that WANTS to post the port they or section of the lake they fish out of the most. Take me if someone was looking for info on the middle section of Seneca in and around Lodi Point area they would open the Finger Lakes Contact thread see who was close to where they wanted to fish/go and send that person a PM for info ......... What do ya all think.................as far as posting reports do as you want , that what I have done for the past to the point one time Ray K acussed me of talking to meself......LOL.......... also it would be a way for everyone on here to PM folks with there phone # if they want................................

Alright Gent I have a poll question for you... Based on a fishing standpoint alone and no other deciding factors... Where would you rather get a boat slip and fish out of....? Watkins or Ithaca? Remaining at the southern ends.... I can NOT answer that from a fishing stand point. Personally I would not slip at either one with my boat. I’d put that money into renting a camp and leave my boat at the camp. Pull in hook up to boat and head to which ever lake I want to fish. Get done come back clean my fish (if I’m lucky) take care of the boat , then put my feet up and relax in my trailer. My camp is 89 miles from my house going by way of Ithaca and about 95 by way of Watkins. Ithaca can be a P.I.T.A. some times to get thru so I go the longer way but time wise it’s less. I can by-pass Watkins and don’t have to drive thru the town. I been fishing Seneca since 1996 and only fish Cayuga once in a while ( never got there last year at all ) I can be at Seneca in less than 5 minutes , over to Cayuga in 25 minutes , Canudagia (sp) about a hour 10 minutes and the same for lake Ontario. The bait population on Seneca has been on the increase since around 2002 or so. It had a big die off of pike over the past two years and the landlocks and browns have been on the increase IMHO. Laketrout are reproducing more and more each year and I’m 95% sure all rainbows are natural reproduction in Seneca. Anyway just one more way to look at what’s best for you……………….good luck which ever one you pick and if you want a ride on the middle of Seneca some time give me a PM.
