Back out today for Tall Pauls last hurray......... later start ( slept in till 5:45am ) ......... check in close to the launch was some bait in area but nothing wanted our stuff...... then we started to pick at afew here and there..... boxed a 20" rainbow and lost two other fish into weeds pulled rods and motor back into wave and set up in 30' of water coming off a shelf....dropped middle rigger down 25' and went to next one and planned on adjusting the depth as we went....... middle rigger goes off land a 17" fat smallie 3.5# box it.....then another bow , nice salmon , laker .....need a brown but it didn't happen........ had a good bite going in that mess Les talked about it was out in 300' of water weeds fire wood , junk , LOTS of fish..... just didn't like the idea of boat, rigger, damage so we moved to other side ....lots of weeds over there............... anyway not a great day but a fun one............. -

Thanks guys........ 76* on top Less had a few good marks up there so I top it up........temp is still all over a good 10* deffernts at the same depth ....had to dig those two browns out....... we see what happens here in a bit going back out coffees almost done and Kingerboy and Tall Paul are still sleeping............ BUT NOT FOR LONG................ -
Fish Seneca today with Tall Paul he got up here around 10ish we BS for some time got some thing to eat and headed down to the launch around 3.................slow start then we picked up a brown 31' down ?????? on FLT chicken feed 17" in the box........ then the 55' rigger goes with FLT UV alwife 5.5# brown in the box........ then two in a row with out hooking up......and dead.... for a while....... then the 55'er goes with chicken feed land a perch...... in the box........ reel dead now move out deeper......55'er again with chicken feed land a 21" 3.5# bow in the box......... pops again with a 16 or 17" bow shake it off in the water....... OH NO it goes again with a 23" 5#+ salmon !!!!!! .............

inline board got out to the side away from boat...... if they were in a straight line behind the boat ?????? three jug rigs spaced that way ???? I have no idea for sure .......
-
Real nice fish WTG...... must have been a hoot getting them that big while jigging.... IMHO looking at the color of both there end fin color I would bet the meat of both fish would be a deep orange color......and the best taste you get from lakers...... so the lakers are now or should I say have been reproducing in Cayuga ????....... or are the not fin clipping them any more in there ??? Hermit once posted way back the lakers color reflects what they eat......having a lot of mistic shrimp in them produces that awsome color............ anyway after he posted that I paid careful attention for a few years and found clipped and unclipped fish color up and not color up...... all that were colored up were the darker orange meat color from 18" to 27" 28" or so.......... at one time I thought it was a size thing but not any more !!!!!

....... sorry we didn't talk more ioiosoiwork but we did get to say Hi and Kingerboy liked the pat on the head... ..... we went right out in front set up trolled north ....... nothings never moved a rod by a fish did pull and clear weeds...... just about ready to make a major move and 55' rigger goes off with differnt spoon I put down...... good fight out of the water thought it was a brown with the sun shinnig on the water....... big smallie..... over 4.5# 19.25 "....... could not revive him enought with the bogo-grip so we boxed him..... well after that we ran into major weeds so we pulled up and made the move across lake........... changes spoons out ..... got then down working into area and 51' rigger goes with my ole ( last one ) dirty spoon...... a few times out of the water in the sun it's either a bow or salmon....... get it to back of boat Hoot ready to land it for me ....told him to wait till I get a better eyeball to see if its a bow...... came off ...... good it was a BOW !!!! ......... set back up ran back around and then back thru nothing ...... worked in shallower had the FLT UV aliwife on dropped it down to some deep marks off it goes ...... Hoot boat a 23" laker in the box....... put her back down again at 71' it fires .......good fish running to the boat....... turns pulls some line....... rush back to the boat again....... next thing ya know the two knots with the barrel swivel gets stuck in the eye...... ( this has happen before and I did NOTHING to correct it ) ....... snap !!!!!! line breaks , leader barrel swivel , snap swivel and one of my bestest spoons GONE........ Hey Bobby I'll be calling ya........ ........got another rod out and last UV spoon like that I have and put it down.....turn and go back thru...... not much after that did pick up one more laker on the UV herganator..............water is set up better on the west side ...... it ALL over the place still on the east side............

Ok here we go....... got down to the launch before 6 am and didn't get out on the water till 6:20 am my "NEW" way of launching by meself sucks.............anyway knew thing would be mess/mixed up with that blow yesterday and the storm the day before so I dropped my temp probe in right off........... had three riggers in one at 41' , 51' and 61'.....61' footer rod tip comes up some I jump on it pop it from the realse and fish on !!!!!! it has a FLT KOS ..... ( I've had little luck on this spoon but I didn't see that one of the three I have has a green glow back and that's one I had down )...... good fight and net , box a 6# brown........ work back thru 61'er goes again ( same way just rod tip up and I did the rest )...... net box a 6.5# brown....... that's enough of that so I work out deep getting out away from the browns....... I dropp every thing down 10' so my deep rigger is 71, probe at 61' and shallow at 51'............... 51'er goes get the barrel swivel into the top eye fish makes a jump on top and spoon comes out I duck it just as it wissses by me head !!!!!......... ran back thru this area with out any luck ......was going to stay deep just could not do it...........71'er KOS throbs up jump on it and lose it after a short fight......gessshhh started out 2 for 2 now I'm 2 for 4........... anyway I just keep heading it the same direction picking up a fish here and there the 71' rigger with the king of sting spoon was just great today ....... 4 browns 2 lakers and one miss........... picked up a 16"er or so brown on the probe rigger with a dirty spoon with the orange dots down the middle........ the 51' riger had the dirty gold/white glow cup spoon on it that picked up a small laker ......lost that sliver fish ......lost one other fish and hooked up with a 4# brown...... good day out nice steady bite !!!!!!! the KOS had the big browns the two six pounds and a 7+ pounder I put back........

In mid April when my fish camp opens up and I fished for lakers did them from 120' down to 165' on dodger peanut , green/yellowish dodger some glow peanut some the same color as the dodger......... also John King has come out with a dipsy digger that gets your mag dipsy deeper with out as much line out , that must be like pulling TWO car doors in..............

Did you get of her before that nasty stuff hit around 2:30 or was that you running WOT !!!! Good to hear you both had a good time...... that's what it's all about anyway...... enjoy your time togather ...
-
I got the grass mowed and ran the chain saw out back some...... just took a look at forcast not to bad so I'll have the boat uncovered and ready for the morning.............

Ok , I run spoons .......main line is 30# test Ande because of fleas in Seneca...... then a barrel swivel that can go thru the rod eyes and thru the prowel on the reel......... 10# Seagar florocarbon leader material 30' or better....... good ballbearing coastlock snap........spoon.............. I put down temp and speed at the ball check for 55* ....park that rigger there one ten above and one ten below...... most of my browns, bows and landlocks are taken in 55* water or above some time 70* water is the ticket............... just saying now but in 2005 I check my reports and I boated in early August over 150 lakers out of Seneca and 0 bows , 0 browns , 0 landlocks ........ I was so zoned in on lakers I was ALWAYS fishing below the others............so if you go to a brown , rainbow program don't get up-set with being skunked more often than you ever would now !!!!......but after it comes togather for you those HI jumpers and bulldogs runs will get you hooked on them........I rather go out and hook-up with two or 3 brown, bow or landlocks than get into 10 lakers...... but I'm talkin spoons now and hardware for lakers........... 25' to 30' off the back for me would be for water over here deeper that 50' .......I run 45' to 75' back most of the time.........
-
Let me turn this around some and ask you how you have been setting up your spread to target browns and bows .....and what you do then....
-
