Thanks everyone !!!! Well she did it my granddaughter got the big bow that got the best of me today.........10# 3oz...........she is a fishing machine......she ended up with a grandslam but not a legal one beleive it or not only one laker was short it was about 12"...................she boated 5 rainbows , 4 landlocks a 15.5"brown and the dink laker..... boxed three landlocks and two rainbows............what a day.....started out a tad ruff but laided down...........her first fish was a good 21" landlock that JUMPED into the net at the boat.... .....just as I got the net near it it jumped and I moved the net just enough when it came dow............the next fish was the huge rainbow that tred to pull all the same stuff that it did to me but boat control and a good team ( dad and daughter ) on the rod over came the fish..........it's in a cooler wrapped and ready for a ride to the tax. shop !!!!!!....then we had a steady pick going as the day went on adding to the take till she had a 5 fish limit............fish were still there for the taking but it was a great way to end a great day we were all there to help her get into fish job very well done.........

Seneca 10/06/2011 solo What a day !!!!! I was whining in the morning because it was below 50* out early so I sat around letting it slllooowwwlllyyy warm up to 54* or so then got ready to go down to the lake . A full thermos of coffee and high hopes and I was off . Set up out deep like normal just got the third rod in for a few minutes and the middle rigger (61’ down) does the slow rise and slow dip back jump on the rod pop it free from the release and fish on…….land a 15.5†brown and put him back. Get into the depth I was doing fish at the other day and head north. Looking at the rigger with the temp probe on I drop that down 10 more feet from 72’ to 82’ looking for a bit colder water a few minutes later that rod fires. What a hand full it comes out of the water two or three times charges the boat , dives under the middle rigger , back out and on the back side of the other rigger…….I follow with the rod under, over then it runs back to the back of the boat in between the two riggers it just tried to tangle up. Then he/she goes on it’s side time for the net , got it (the net) fish is close enough start to slide the net under it have most of it in just about ready to lift it up and it goes nuts-o again and throws the hook what a great fish glade it won…………I landed a 9# 2oz rainbow last year with Hoots help this fish was ALL of that size and a bit more I think……. Well by this time I’ve run up into a shoal as all this was going on also so I had both riggers way up to keep from bagging bottom……………got everything back in control and started again hooked into another bow and landed this guy 20†or so then a 17†put that one back then another 20†rainbow put him in the cooler with the other one…………..pulled up lines and went to another spot (son and granddaughter are coming up Saturday so I hope that area will still be on fire)…………..got to next spot picked up a 17†brown boxed it , another bow around 20†kept him in the water trying to get the hook out broke my line and off he went spoon and all ( well dummy did you check the line out on that big guy ……NO )………..pulled lines and cut and replaced everything on them and back at it again put other hot spoon aside and pulled out some look a likes with single hooks…………..Ok hook up again big fish looks like a bow so I bring it up the side after a good fight ……UttO it’s a BIG (for me) landlock about 24†or so would be my biggest to date because seems like the few good ones I’ve hooked always have one of my buddies or my brother on the end of the rod………….back off some ease to the net fish comes back to life for a quick thrashing around and is gone…..wawawa……..put it back down………….land a small 10ish brown , 18†or so laker , 20†landlock (box it )………one more laker about 20â€â€¦â€¦â€¦.then lose some thing either a lanlock or rainbow sliver fish……..pick up one more landlock 21†box it time to go in………….a double GRAND – SLAM--- solo !!!!!! What a day !!!!!!!!!

I'd stay away from the muriatic acid , where I usta work we used it on the concrete floors didn't take long to "ruff" them up. IF you have to use it have pleanty of water ready to dilute the area you are covering with acid and do it in a well ventalated (sp) area.

11ish to 2:30ish.................started down the hill out of the camp and Don was walking his dog , asked if he wanted to go said he would meet me at the launch...........we went north on the east side going to try the area I did 6 lakers in a few days ago...................good call.............came in just south of that area picked up a good 22" landlock and a dink.....went back thru........picked up a small laker...........back thru.............20" brown...............small laker ............waves building and getting more like work than fishing back into them so worked back too the direction of the launch.............picked up a small landlock , 16" rainbow and two more small lakers.............between us we got a grand slam..............it was nice to do some catching while we were fishing........... ....... Don with the brown and landlock I think Don is 82 and this weekend will be there 62 or so wedding anniversary ………….gotta love that smile……

Put in around 11ish did a little jigging on the east side but found my spinning rod was too light so went to trolling.......weeds on the north side of Lodi Point troll south just below the brown AFrame point and pulled up and went across......came in just above Servern thought I found some colder water up higher then it was gone................picked up two lakers , one hit and a miss and a bite-off or break off good fish............2 at 54' , one at 82' , one at 103' ....spoons.......this week will be it will be closing camp up after the weedend or late Sunday......

Watching the rain on the radar then just missing us so I asked Don if he wanted to get wet. Down we went around 1pm went acrossed to the west side and the waves starting building. Worked area for a while but could not get any thing to go so went with the easy ride waves at our back and headed north. Trolled up just short of Long Point thought I heard some thunder so we headed in both of us good and wet so but no fishy smell...... ......not many weeds to speak of but it was choppy and maybe we were just lucky not hitting many...........down temp is a bit higher than the other day.......some fleas at the knots still.....
-
Fished solo today did a little jigging just off Lodi Point picked up nothing. Then trolled the east side 6.3 miles north picking up 6 lakers. 82' down and 97' down spoons.......BIG weed pods north of boy scout camp up past Willard......picked up the most lakers in that area dodging the weed pods............ .............

Went out with Hoot from camp just before noonish checked a few thing out on the east side and gave it a go.......temp seemed much better on the east side but ran into weeds and could not work the area I wanted to so went moved over to the west side..........had one realse and lost it down 104'.........60* down 82' ,92' , 100' , @ 128' only dropped to 55* to 53*......picked up a small bow down 57' , trolled north was blocked in with a scum line out 500' + on the first pass that was moving slowly in and 450' and my realse was on the other side of it..............about 2 miles south of Long Point we ran into a mine feild of weeds.............while cleaning lines heard some rumbling ,,,,, black clouds NW and W wind started to turn so we headed in...........boat was covered for 5 minutes and the rain was here with quite a bit of thunder......looks like a wash out for the next day will have to wait and see.....

It was weird how fast the down temp dropped down but also interesting. I think as the very cold nights cooled the surface water down and then mixed with the warmer water it all just pushed the temp deeper........also when I put the tape to that brown I was wondering how fast/much it grew. If it was one of the early spring stockers ( which I think it is ) it was about 8" then and it grew 5 to 6 inches since May......WOW !!!!!!!
-
I had three lines in the water at 1ish fishing east side pick up a nice heathlty looking brown 13" or 14" 61' down.......put a quick tape to him and put him back......weeds were not real bad but thought it maybe better on the west side.....figure I'd put the probe down and fish temp....WOW it was much deeper than I thought....picked up a small bow about 8" down 71' and a good landlock at 19" down 103'. Made a few passes thru and nothing more still some nice marks but nothing firing........trolled south not much to see on the screen put I picked up a legal laker about 17"...................pulled every thing up around 4:30pm .....would have liked to stay a bit longer but too many dark clouds out of the west................good day on the water and not many more left for me this season..... ....camp closes in 25 days.....

I did the same thing when I was fishing peanuts a lot , I think my longest was 35" with a 10# leader. Thought was that a lighter line would alow the peanut to move more.....................made a few up with braid and put a piece of a WD40 tube inside the peanut to keep the braid from cutting thru.......darn line was so thin it was hard to keep the leader from getting knotted up...............let us know how you make out..................been thinking about putting a peanut in front of a fly , works good with a "peanut" fly never tried a trolling fly .....YET !!!!!

Nice job !!!!!!
