  1. Take Note : The channel has NOT been dug yet this year. Smaller boats can probably squeak thu ok like Chowder did with his 16.5' on the east side but I wouldn't try to navigate it with anything much bigger until it's dug.
  2. The person in question enjoyed a very short stay here on LOU I'm afraid.
  3. A simple search of Bag Lady would show you that Earl has been a respected member here since 2008.
  4. That's a matter of opinion too.
  5. Big Jon pulleys work very well & at a reasonable cost too. Large radius so there is no line bind & you don't have to worry about the line getting caught between the pulley & housing like you would on others.
  6. Keep the boat the way it is, sell the V-8 for $500 & buy some more tackle. You'll be money way ahead. All kidding aside. There is much more to it than just switching engines around as in automotive. You will need a host of relatively expensive parts to convert the engine itself to marine cooling etc.. as well as exhaust parts to adapt to the cobra transom plate, shift linkage, cables, & the misc. list will go on & on. The gear ratio is different than what you have now for your 3.0L engine too.
  7. They were a good unit in there day, unfortunately they are no longer being made by Raymarine in any form. The Sport Pilot, Spx-5r or the latest Evo version they had out are no longer in production & no plans to reintroduce them either. Simrad makes a good wheel pilot now or the other option for cable steer boats is to go with an octopus type R drive or there type S wheel drive & a pilot of your choice.
  8. There is really no need to pull a drive apart unless it is showing signs of an issue such as water intrusion, excessive metallic in the fluid etc. I do recommend the fluid be changed every season and the drive itself pulled every other to ck engine alignment , grease u-joints, input shaft (coupler) splines & ck bellows.
  9. What your looking at behind the prop is actually another anode. The two 5/16 headed bolts on either side hold it in place. Also use the magnesium anodes instead of the common zink style when you replace them.
  10. Mercs are up to and including 30hp Tim, as well as the full Nissan line, they are also supplying all of OMC's ( Evinrude's ) small engine's from the 3.5 to 15hp.

  13. Unless it's been switched out that boat has Teleflex rotary steering. If the wheel is tight, pull the bezel and make sur the 3, 1/4" bolts are tight that hold the helm to the dash plate are tight and the plate itself. If all is tight the bushings in the helm are worn and it's time to replace it.

  20. Unless I'm missing something. I haven't seen yet in this thread weather it,s a straight inboard of which most 26 Pro's were or an I/O. Propeller's and sizing are entirely different between the two. disregard We were both replying at the same time
