I carry a light inexpensive ski rope in the sled all the time. Doesn't take up much room, 75' of line and a throwing handle for someone to get a grip on.

Who is the maker of these planer board releases?

Amish Outfitters sells them as well as many other tackle shops around the lake.. But they are called Clippers and made locally here in Sodus. -

There's an alen head set screw in the base (bottom of the v in the spool). Loosen it & slide the shaft out. -
