Drag's on the original AccuDepths sucked in plain terms. Gear ratio is great tho for wire set-up's. I haven't used the Plus's yet. So i have no idea if they corrected it or not.

Mike Ck your pm's.

I would say with the new breed of spoons. Stinger NBK. Old breed: September Spoon that a good friend of ours out this way came up with years back. NK 28 plain Blk. White green glow with a strip of pink along the factory tape. Been a main stay for alot of year's especially deeper, but usually good where ever you run it. Forgot one: The Aug. spoon is the same but with a silver cup. Thank Jim Well's (Orange Peel) for that one.

Mike: Is this a test. You kn the difference, you were around back then. A lot of people mistake them for Ling or Dog Fish. http://www.seagrant.wisc.edu/greatlakesfish/burbot.html

Back in the 70's on Oneida when they were plentiful. They were all over the ice. They were considered trash fish by most. It was a waist of a good eating fish as well as a resource. We kept all of our's that we wanted and put the rest back thru the hole, tried to inform others around us to put them back as well if they weren't going to keep them. Most were fishing walleye riggs on bottom. Pimple or jig dressed with spikes or a small buckeye and the burbot came right along with the eye's. Table fare: Can't beet em. Very similar to cod.

Mike & Frank are great people and the best there was at prop's. Hand's down. Was sorry to see it when they sold out. If Mike get's back in it let me kn. Alot of brass & nibrows around that need his expertise.

Al: What Alan said is the way to do it unless you pull the lower and pull the carrier. Then you can use a bit more heat. I don't kn how bad yours is bent but make sure to pull the prop and put a wet rag as Al stated around the prop shaft right tight to the seals, and try to straiten out a small portion at a time. Work your way from the bottom up

Don't forget that if your watching speed as well. With the probe down in the ice water and your main rigg's 20 or so ft above it. you very well might not be running them at the speed you think you are. Down currents are strange at times. As in down current sheers etc. Many times I've seen a westerly current down to X amount of ft. Drop the probe down 20 or so in the ice and it's exactly the opposite Best to ck down speed at different depths from time to time to see what's going on. I'll usually find 48 to 52 for king's and ck. speed to start and setup there, but use the probe after with a spoon up and down to see whats going on down below. No set rules. A lot of times knowing your speed in your spread is more important than temp. esp. with kings.

LOTSA Lake Ontario Fishing Expo - this coming Sunday
L&M replied to Tim Bromund's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Posted this on another tread, but it's room for thought as well as promoting LOU. I don't think I can make it out there. But why not get some simple name tag's on your coat or shirt with LOU and your user name on them so some of you that have never met in person can figure out who's who. Maybe just Lake Ontario United or LOU on them. Just a suggestion. Don't shoot the messenger. Coure if Ray wasn't in FL. He'd want you to walk around with either a pink ribbon tied round your head or camo thongs. -
30# Big Game

Big Game hands down. 15# till the fleas show-up. Then 30# on the rigger rod's after.

As Bill and Mower said above. As long as you have a water separator filter on it, ( if you don't put one on. It's a good investment) and replace it before you start it up, and check and replace it a few times after, you should have no problems especially if you had a stabilizer in it. If you have a filter on it the only problems you might encounter is the old fuel that was setting in the carb for that long varnishing. After you have run it awhile and if it seems ok add some fresh fuel and, or octane booster to it to get what's in there back up. On another note: If it hasn't been run in a year or so pull the coil wire & ground it and, or disable the ignition system, and turn the engine over until you have oil pressure before you fire it up. I am assuming this is an I/O. But the same will hold true with an O/B depending on what it is.

Up date from the DEC In a message dated 2/14/2008 2:42:35 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Since our stakeholders meeting last December, we have experienced some additional mortality of chinook salmon at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery. We now anticipate about 850,000 fish will be available for stocking in spring 2008 which is about 15% less than our projection. We expect to allocate the fish in approximately the same ratio that we had discussed earlier. The additional mortality occurred between the eyed egg stage and hatch, which is another indication that last fall's warmer temperatures and subsequent stress simply left the fish in relatively poor condition. Ontario also experienced additional mortality in their chinook as well. Fortunately, the fish are now doing very well, and barring any unforseen diseases, we should be in good shape through the spring. We will provide specific details for each stocking when we get closer to the stocking date. Bill

Glad he could help you out Mark. He was sending back pics of some of the bigger ones. That adventure's over, now he's got an offer on a boat in Alaska for kings & soul. Must be nice to be young and independent. But he's doing what he wants while he can.
