  1. Rod: If your talking on the transom plate with two longer bolts. Yes re place them as well as the springs in between. They are inexpensive and just good insurance is all, for the few $'s they are, you don't want to have to pull it again to replace them or have to replace a coupler because of it. On the same note MAKE sure that the engines are aligned before the drives are put back on.

  2. Borax: Of all I've installed we have never tried it with uncoated cable. Curt ( at Depth Raider ) say's that it will but haven't tried it. But why limit yourself to 35 to 50 ft.. There are times when I'm shur you'll want to ck. deeper and feel confident that it will work ok. If you want the scoop from the man. Give Curt a call directly at Depth Raider. Good support and good people.

  3. Thank you everyone for your help. I have called fishhawk on several occasions and have yet to get a return call. When you saw the unit at the Triple S show did they indicate when it might be available? What are the advantages that the depth raider has over the fishhawk? I really hate the coated cable, this is the reason I am interested in the new fishhawk. If the advantages are overwelming then I will live with the coated cable.

Steve: After running a Hawk for over 15 years daily with down time in between for constant repairs. Here are several advantages. Constant LCD read out. Both temp. & speed. No more having to average it out when the speed on the hawk is bouncing around. Ease of installation, no transd. to mount one cable from the rigger to the head and two power wires for the head. The whole system can be rigged in less than an hr. including the coated cable and you don't have to pull the boat or drill more holes in the transom. As far as the coated cable goes unless your stacking on it (I don't) I see & have no problems altho I kn some guys that do stack without any trouble. Last but not least. Price, support if you should have a problem is excellent, sealed electronics in the probe. If by chance the o-ring should leak. The only place it can get to is the battery compartment. Not the main board.

Dam Missed my callin. Should of been a salesman.

  4. Maryland? Is it a salt water engine to start with? What Bill said is very valid and good advice for a fresh water engine, price as well. But now your throwing an other equation into it. How old and or what year is the engine? Was it run in salt water all the time and if so for how long?

  5. Smart choice Nick. Nobody is above making a mistake, and there is no reason to post a name right now untill you know what is going to happen.

I kn I've screwed up a few times in my business and made it right, as I'm shur Paul has as well. Why slander some one where it can be seen by thousands of people on the net by one screw up and realy hurt his busness, as you said you were happy with his other mount's. Let us kn how it works out.
