  1. Name: Tom Bishop Boat Name: LongLine (posts are "not short" & lures are way back) Boat make: 18 Ft Blue Fin Port: Trailer couple miles to the Genny Yrs fishing: Dad threw me in Port Bay when I was 3 yrs old (1954) & I've been trying to catch a fish ever since. Fished the 1st ESLO. Strictly Rec. Tom B. (LongLine)

    test

cc25 - now that the guys are done ragging on ya - nice fish. Tom B. (LongLine)
  3. Edd - If units are separated & cables/connections all secure then it's got to be in the wires. Are they separated and no power wire even comes close to an antenna cable? Is/are any cables coiled up? It is easy to pick up noise thru a coiled cable, even if it's shielded. Do you have the same noise if the engine is off? (Ignitions produce tremendous noise.) Does network cable have a bad end? Sometimes connectors come loose and the shielding at the plug becomes worthless. Tom B. (LongLine)
  4. Don't know about the Brown's but with the winds they're predicting I'd only go on the Summerville side & chuck some heavy metal - cleo's, krock's etc. Tom B. (LongLine)
  5. Joe - That's true, it was a great season start that year. Skipper - was that you & Ray in Capt Sloof Lirpa boat? Tom B. (LongLine)
  6. Another Blue Fin Welcome aboard. Tom B. (LongLine)
  7. I use the Laurvicks. Never had a problem with a one handed removal from the line. No reason to change. You can make a Scotty with a shower curtain ring and any pinchpad. Also you can make a Laurick with a large paper clip, piece of rubber hose & and an alligator clip. Tom B. (LongLine)
  8. 3-2-50 - Paddlewheels mounted on the transome are not accurate due to the boat dragging water behind it. Next time you troll thru a patch of floating seaweed, take a look at the water at the transom; you'll always see some weeds that the boat drags along with it. It is very rare that paddlewheel, GPS & down speed ever match. (actually, if they do say the same then a couple of them are out of whack) It's best to find the speed the fish want then replicate that speed with whatever way of measurement that you can. Tom B. (LongLine)
  9. I'd advise using the pinch pad type as stackers on the coated line. You really don't want anything sliding or rotating on a coated cable as the coating will wear off real quick. Tom B. (LongLine)
  10. Try ladders on the black side. Silver, purple, green, & Glow. Single or any combination. Also in addition to the ladder, consider 3/8" eyes in red and glow. (on the black side) Tom B. (LongLine)
  11. 2 to 2. I like the Moor. Tom B. (LongLine)
  12. More Interesting reading - last page... http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_ ... 7sec12.pdf Tom B. (LongLine)
  13. That bottom one looks interesting Billy. FYI: DEC has reported that the Gobies go out as far as 400 FOW for the winter. Tom B. (LongLine)
  14. The DEC "secretly" put some in the river a few years back. There was an article last year that they are doing well. In last years annual report when the DEC reported on the netting/sampling of the bass population along the shore, they netted one roughly 3 ft long. They've been pleased with the stocking results. It's also one of the specie that the glfc has included in their retoration objectives for the next 10 yrs. NOTE: They're still protected specie. IE no catching them or trying to catch them! Tom B. (LongLine)
  15. Stan - 1st pic or last Tom B. (LongLine)
  16. Welcome back Steve. As soon as Hank's done with the ride, I might get to see you out here. Tom B. (LongLine)
  17. Hamlin Tom B. (LongLine)

  19. All Right.... Someone else who knows a good boat. Welcome aboard. Tom B. (LongLine)
  20. Think you'll be able to keep the lines in the water at that speed? Those turns might make for an interesting time untangling the lines. Tom B. (LongLine)
  21. TTF - I occassionally run a single bucket off my stern (outboard). If you do this make sure you attach the the bucket via a pulley/harness like you'd use with a water skier and clip to both rear cleats. This will always keep the bucket behind you so it won't affect your steering. Also make sure you only use enough rope so if the bucket &/or rope sinks (if for any reason you have to put engine in reverse) that the pulley/harness will not go below your cavitation plate. About 6-8 holes in a circle 5/8" diameter works for me. Lastly make sure you replace the handle on the bucket with a rope. Tom B. (LongLine)
  22. Your welcome. Don't forget the last of the 3 meetings (as Legs posted earlier): Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Niagara County Cooperative Extension, 4H Training Center Auditorium, 4487 Lake Avenue (Route 78), Lockport, New York. For information, contact Paul McKeown in the DEC Allegany suboffice at (716) 372-0645 or Mike Wilkinson in the DEC Buffalo office at (716) 851-7010; It's a great opportunity to talk to the guys who've been studying the fishery for quite a while, ask questions and voice your opinions as stakeholders. Tom B. (LongLine)
  23. Nem - It only comes in glow. Tom B. (LongLine)
  24. Hank - It's a combination free & fixed slider. Free when being raised or lowered then fixed when waving in the wind. Tom B. (LongLine)
  25. He was dedicated & we're going to miss him. Condolences to the family. (His & the Big-O fishermen) Tom B. (LongLine)
