Ok you guys – Just East of the river on Sat, solo again. 85-120 FOW. Had 1 release on the high line at 60 ft but otherwise just enjoyed the sunshine. We had a brief storm Fri night & temps dropped about 15 deg overnight. Crystal clear sky on Sat morn. 54.5F on surface, gradual to 49.5F on the bottom. West wind with 2ft waves. Occasional small white cap. Had a very “activeâ€Â

Congratulations. Definitely a keeper. Enjoy it while their young because before you know it, he'll be beating you the rod and saying "here Dad, you take it, it's a little one" Tom B. (LongLine)

I had a broken paddlewheel a couple months back. Had to drive to Buffalo for company so called Moor to see if I could pick one up on my way back. Stopped in around lunch time. Got shooting the breeze with Duane, who really know these things. Ended up buying a few other parts & left happy. Bottom Line: Top marks for Excellent service. Tom B. (LongLine) -
USGS operates the Kaho: NYSDEC operates the Seth Green. Seth Green is smaller than Kaho. Both used for preyfish assessment on Big-O. Seth Green usually makes the cross lake trawls & hydroacoustic surveys. Lots of other research also done with both on Big-O. Tom B. (LongLine)

ITB - I believe the rod/reel King salmon record is 97 Lb caught in Alaska (cerca '85) however bigger have been reported netted. Also the world record "greaser" is larger than that pictured. However, if any of us caught a 50 Lb'r in Big-O, we'd need a new pair of nickers  Tom B. (LongLine)

Good news from the 2006 DEC annual report is that the goby population has leveled off but the bad news is that they're getting bigger so the overall biomass in Big-O is roughly the same as last year. Tom B. (LongLine)

Definitely pop the rigger if you ever start to get frustrated. Amazing how many fish I've caught that way over the years. I never raise the rigger to release line when changing lures, checking for seaweed or calling it a day. Love Blacks for that very reason :!: :!: tip: pop the rod then put it in back in rod holder immediately, then raise rigger. This gives lure a little time to flutter down, then come up. Even a little one will give you a jolt. Tom B. (LongLine)

What kind of fish was this?

Best site I've seen for fish ID http://www.wiscfish.org/fishid/frames.aspx This is the stuff tax $ should be spent on :!: Tom B. (LongLine) -
Ray - Glad you got it. sorry couldn't answer earlier, got kicked off computer last nite so went out & painted trailer. That does have to be one of the neatest sites around though. Who said there's no structure in Big-O :?: :?: :?: You can also use the "identify" feature to get info & GPS coordinates. Tom B. (LongLine)

Wolfy Click on this site and run the FLC animation for a look at how it is forecasted to change every couple hours http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glc ... pe=F&hr=03 (for some reason they can't spell Ontario but it is Big-O) Tom B. (LongLine) -

S'Spoon - Speed & leed (lead). You have to experiment. As to which scum line, you have to watch temp gages. The one at 150FOW had extremely cold water outside of it. make sure what you're seeing is fish and not big flotsam/jetsum. Normally if I see what look like multiple lines I'll zigzag thru them or turn big circle, on my way out. HIH Tom B. (LongLine)

Only made it out for a couple hours this morning. 2 Cohos & a Bow. Bigger Coho 27 inches. All 35 down over 130FOW. Interesting temps 120 to 150 FOW. 150 FOW - 42F surf, 39.5F down 20. 2 minor scum lines & 2 sharp temp breaks in the area. All on Bloody Silv/Blk R&R. Very aggressive fish. 2.0 down-speed, “zigging & a zaggingâ€Â

Not a cloud in the sky, very light west wind. Launched at sunup, off when my ears were cooked around noon, East side of the River, 50-105 FOW. Surf temp dropped from 47.5 to 45.5 at 85 FOW with a few logs & a few of those diving birds. Not much color to the water. Deeper water was blue. “Constipationâ€Â

Launched at the river at 5:30. Cool with N’ly wind, maybe 2 footers coming straight up the river. Decided to try the east side this time. Stayed 60-90 FOW. 52F surf, rapid temp change down 24 (47F) to 32 (40F). basically a clean screen all morning. Anyways, here’s my youngest with a couple he got on a 28 seedless melon, both down 31: (Stlhd, 28â€Â

Chuck - Ever do it on the way back to the launch? At dockside? Only means you'd have to stop trolling for a few minutes. You could throw a couple jigs on. When you put it in neutral & goose it, does it blow a lot of smoke? If so, you're getting oil in the cylinder somehow and it has to clear out &/or blow-by. Also are you using fresh gas? Sometimes a "splash" of water from condensation gets into the engine & they run like "crap", but generally clear when rev'd in neutral until the next "splash" gets pumped in. (Plug check really would tell you a lot.) Tom B. (LongLine)
