WD-40 is the best silver polish known to man and will prevent tarnish for a long long time. It won't hurt paint jobs at all, however it may loosen up tape. Spray a little on a soft paper towel and wipe.

You are lucky. Glad you got it back. I'm sure it'll work when dried out. I've heard of guys losing them on the highway but never on the water.

If you're thinking electric, also think about how you're going to power them. i.e. Will your charging system support the additional load...amperage output? Will you need extra battery? etc

When oil & water are mixed and churned up, it turns tan-ish white. It's a dead give-away that something needs repair. Lower units have a large screw on the gear casing - down below the prop, towards the front, for draining oil.

So how come there's only one/two web-cam?????? (and that's privately funded, isn't it?)
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

There should be a metal tag on it somewhere with the model & serial number. A good place to look is on the side of the engine clamps. (to the transom)

Welcome to the site. Yes they can be caught from shore if you're there REAL early as Whaler said. Like before sunrise. Definitely light line - 8 tops.
