  1. Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find a kit local so I ordered a 100-hour kit. The oil and gear oil seems to be much harder to find than Mercruiser products. Is there any reason I couldn't just use Mercruiser products in a Yamaha?
  2. I'm getting ready to winterize my "new to me" 1997 Yamaha 9.9 high thrust kicker. What is the recommended oil and gear lube for this motor? Not sure what was used before. whether it was synthetic, synthetic blend, or regular oil.
  3. Wondering what to use for anti-freeze to winterize my 4.3 Mercruiser. I noticed the Prestone pink waterline anti-freeze says: Not to be used in gas or diesel engines as winterizing fluid or antifreeze+coolant
  4. Brand new, never mounted Seastar Throttle control. It was going to be used on the boat I bought but decided not to. $200. plus shipping if needed. Located in Penfield NY Please message me with any interest.
  5. Thanks all. I'll give it a try.
  6. I want to try Power Pro on one of my downriggers. Should I back the spool with something? I have 450 feet of 150lb Power Pro. It seems like being so much thinner than stainless cable it would throw off the depth counter. Any thoughts from someone that has used it would be appreciated
  7. Weekends on Irondequoit Bay are always an accident looking for a place to happen. Online license courses are way too easy to just breeze through without learning anything. I'm not big on government regulations but I am for boat operators knowing the rules.
  8. Nice to get out with the family. This hot, humid, and calm weather will probably bring the biting flies out in masses!!!
  9. I Came across this in an old Garmin monochrome GPS I had in the basement. I realize it's almost 30 years old but if someone can use it it's yours. I Just thought I would throw it out there before I tossed it. I'm located in Penfield NY. Just drop me a PM.
  10. A VHF is never a bad idea. I have one that came with a new to-me boat that I would be willing to donate to you. Just pay for the shipping. If you are interested drop me a message and we can figure it out.
  11. if the sanitarium doesn't take it I will.
  12. The weigh stations are not paid to do this. It's a lot of hassle for not getting paid. That's why I doubt Mayers would want to do it. There's no benefit for them. It needs to be a tackle shop, so it brings in possible patrons. Unfortunately, most of the tackle shops in the Monroe County area have closed.
  13. I have to Agree about the hours. Some counties have 11 hours of open weigh stations and Monroe County is the only place that only has 6 Hours. Fishing after work hours during the week is pretty much out of the question. I don't mind the hours starting later but closing at 4:00 pm compared to 8:00 pm is a huge disadvantage.
  14. I'm looking forward to another LOC season. I wish Monroe County had a weigh station that was open later than 4:00. There is only one weigh station in the county, and it closes earlier than any other station. If you hook into a decent fish after 3:00-3:30, chances are good that you won't make the weigh station before closing. The next closest weigh station from I-Bay is a 20-mile ride/drive to Hughs Marina in Williamson. I sure miss the days when there were multiple weigh stations close by.
  15. Sorry to hear Fishy Business is closing. Going to miss it on our camping trips to Keuka State Park.
  16. Used 6-gallon gas tank. Was used with a Johnson outboard. The gas hose was fine but hasn't been used in about 5 years so I can't be sure now. $35 Located in Penfield N.Y. Local pickup only Message if interested.
  17. If torpedo weights are also an option, contact Troutman87 on this sight. He makes his own at a very reasonable price. I've used a few of his and have been very happy.
  18. Thanks Mike. Just curious, Is it a 3 blade?
  19. Thanks all for the replies. I never believed in the fin either. It was on the boat when I bought it 2 years ago, so I figured someone knew more than I did. When I re-prop I'll probably take it off. I found the spare prop that came with the boat, and it is a 21 pitch so I'm thinking that's probably what is on it now.
  20. Thanks for the info. It looks like Max rpm should be 4400-4800. I'm getting about 3900 with a top speed of around 34 MPH. With 6 people on board it fights to get up on plane. It also has a Fin on the lower unit to help it get on plane. I'll have to try to figure out what's on it now.
  21. I have a 1997 225 Penn Yann Outrage with a 4.3LXH GEN+ Merc. I'm looking for the correct prop size for this motor. Right now, I'm only getting 3900 RPM at WOT. I cant read the numbers on the numbers on the prop that is on now. Also, should I stick with a 3-blade or go to a 4-blade.? The boat is used primarily for trolling. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. I have a 1997 Yamaha 4 stroke kicker motor. It started giving me problems starting and staying running the last couple of trips this year. Does anyone know of a mechanic that works on these in the Rochester area? It's put away for the winter but I'm hoping to get it done early in the spring. I tried Pugsleys Marine but never heard back. Any help would be appreciated
