We got both of ours on the same day a couple of weeks ago.

1st place (as of today) Brown division. Reeled in by my brother Jim. Fish hit Stinger NBK down 55 over 65 in front of I-Bay. Took big fish of the day for $200 so it's already a winner. Sorry, didn't have a camera so no pics. Still alot of derby left so hoping for good weather to try to get another on the board. Rick

The steelhead hit a white and blue spindoctor with a blue fly and the king came on a white on white spindoctor with a white fly. Both down about 100' No down temp to report since our Depth Raider probe took a dive to about 300' early in the day, OUCH!! Except for that, a nice day to be on the lake.

Probe took a DEEP swim today. I know this is a long shot but if anyone has a Depth Raider probe they no longer need/use drop me a PM or reply with a phone number. Thanks, Rick

IBAY - 8-1-09 CDS Whip

Frank, Sounds like a great day!! Heading out tomorrow with"Nancy B II " Hope our day is half as good. Thanks for the report. Rick -
I was having the same problem with my Lowrance X-91. It would read bottom up until about 70 ft then would lose it off and on. Just replaced it with the Eagle 480 DF . I've only been out twice since but it seems to work great. Marks the rigger balls clearly and I actually saw fish for the first time in ages. I would have loved to go color but it isn't in the budget right now. The 480 DF seems to be a good unit for the money from what I can tell from the short time I've had it. Rick

I don't normally trailer but I was wondering what people that do use as a treatment for gas with ethenol. Does the gas at marinas have ethenol in it? -
Found this in the Democrat And Chronicle http://www.democratandchronicle.com/art ... ssing-boat

Irish56, Glad you said that. I decided to buy an inexpensive unit to use until I was in a better position to upgrade so I ordered the Eagle Seafinder 480 DF a couple of days ago. I hope it gets here in time to install it for the weekend. Rick

Since I still can't get my FF to mark a fish or hold bottom I need to make a decision, New FF or buy a transducer for my 8 year old Lowrance X-91 for about $75 and hope tht's the problem. I've been reading up on Dual frequency vs single and all the manufactures sites I've been to say to use dual frequency for deep sea fishing (Salt water) and single for lakes and ponds. I also know alot of people prefer dual and was wondering what the advantages are. Due to work situations (or lack of) I'm on a very limited budget and am curious what anyone thinks of the Eagle products. I did some searching and see they have a 320 or 480 monochrome in both dual and single frequencies pretty reasonable. Any thoughts are appreciated!! Thanks, Rick

Any one been fishing for Smallies at Hedges? Tried a couple of times last year and was pretty dissappointed. I'm hoping it's better this season.

We ended the day 3 for 7. 1 Rainbow, 1 small King and 1, 18# king. we dropped a couple of other Bows after some aerobatics behind the boat. All fish were caught on Monkey puke NK 28s on sliders, with the ball down 65-70 feet. we spent most of the morning working in the 125-150 range. -

Spoonfed, Fished with Nancy BII for a few hours on Sat. Stayed mainly between the bay and river in 80 out to about 160 feet. We only picked up one small King and didn't see much on the screen. Called it quits when the wind picked up later in the morning. Might try to get out this weekend and give it another shot. -
I saw that same upwelling during the fall LOC a couple of years ago off the river. It was the biggest temp change i had ever seen. At one point the current was so strong my compass had me heading NW with a speed over ground (GPS) of 3 mph but according to my gps I was actually going more east with a down speed of less then 1 mph. It took a few minutes to figure out what was happening. I thought my gps was crapping out on me. first time in the 20+ years I've been fishing I've seen that.

I think I may have a bad transducer and thought someone might have one laying around. The unit is a Lowrance X-91 single frequency. It has the gray connectors. I'm looking for an inexpensive way to determine if the transducer is actually my problem. Rick

(Your Name) : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): (6/5) Time on Water: (12:00-2:00) Temp/Weather: (cool) Wind Speed/Direction: (NE around 10mph) Waves: (1-2 Footers) Surface Temp: (52F) Location: (out front I-Bay) LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: (4) Total Boated: (1) Species Breakdown: (1 low teen Lake Trout) Hot Lure: (Michigan Stinger NBK ) Trolling Speed: (2.5) Down Speed: (2.1) Boat Depth: (150) Lure Depth: (85) ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== (Decided to go out solo for a couple of hours. I was a little disappointed to see the east wind. Started around 90' and fished out to about 160' Caught the Laker in 150 down 85. Decided i must be trolling to slow so I bumped it up a little and went with the waves for a while. Had another fish hit the same rod but I'm pretty sure it was the free slider NBK. Had it on for about a minute then he thru the hook. had 2 more hits on a green Spin doctor/ green fly, down 80' over about 100'. It was a little bumpy to be fishing alone so I called it a day. Never saw a thing on the fishfinder but then again I don't think it's working. Tough to be fish blind like that!. )

I've been having the same problem with a Lowrance X-91 for over a year now. Iv'e tried every thing I can think of to fix it. Rewired both batteries along with all electronics( vhs radio, GPS, depth raider, fish finder, down riggers etc.) I checked and cleaned both battery grounds. Checked by perko battery switch connections. Nothing has worked. I called Lowrance and was told it may be a bad transducer and I should buy a new one and try it. I haven't done that because I hate to spend the $$ just to find out it's not the problem. My unit is 7 years old so maybe it's time for a new one. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution. It was a tough day for us out of I-bay too. Went out with Scott on the Nancy-B II from 7 until about 11. Fished from 85' out to about 130' from the bay to a little past the river. Cold water everywhere. We took one Coho. It hit a Michigan Stinger down 20' over 95' while we were setting up first thing in the morning. That was our only hit all day. Hopefully the lake will set up again this week.
