  1. My brain must be wired differently........ i would have already sent the pics to U Charters, the people who make Slide Divers and got an answer from them. ...As a side note, Ive been running wire Slide Divers, with a 15' mono leader for years and have never seen this, even running the new 7oz. magnum weight kits.
  2. You may want to call the people at Taylor Made.... they produced the original equiptment tops and side curtains for most major boat builders, including Starcraft. They may have what you are looking for in inventory, as they still stock replacement parts for most popular models. Here's a link you can check out.. http://www.taylormadegroup.com/AFS/index.html
  3. I would venture a guess..... as you crank up the downrigger ball, the cable and release are spinning, causing the line to wrap around the cable. I also use Blacks releases, and have never had that problem. Are your releases free to spin on the cable, or do you have them crimped on in some way or pinned to the cable so they are static? My releases spin free around the cable. I always break my lures free before bringing the rigger ball up.... put the rod back in the holder and let the lure flutter its way up to the surface.... you'll be suprised how many hits you will get as the lure "fishes its way" back to the surface.
  4. My largest king ever came on a clean Rhys Davis meat head.
  5. I print out all the info I need and tape it to the underside of a hatch lid at the stern. You can see my charts on the open hatch lid on the left side.
  6. I've had Traxstech products on my boat for approx. 8 seasons.. no problems..
  7. Tom, I should have posted about my Friday afternoon trip out of Braddocks, you could have done a copy / paste and saved some time typing...... many, many bait pods and fish in the 60 - 100 ft. range, good temps, and fished the same surface breaks you saw..... changed up lures, speed, depth a bunch of times, 2 short strikes on cheaters and a skippy king so small, he never released the wire diver. Seems like a slow weekend for most boats in the Rocheater area.
  8. Looking for clear Rhys Davis Large Teaser heads in the Rochester area...... has anyone seen them at the local tackle shops?? I hate to do mail order for such a small dollar item.. Thanks, Jim
  9. I've ordered from them a few times.... never a problem
  10. Been stacking, sliding, and cheating since 1991.....
  11. I use swim noodles, but cut slots around them about 3/4" deep with a utility knife..... bury the snaps and swivels down in the slots to avoid tangles.
  12. Once the thermocline sets up, My 3 rod "search mode" still includes the old school rubber squid. Low rigger with Evil Eye high speed dodger / squid with a fixed cheater above, ( spoon or Apex ) wire diver with flasher / fly high rigger with spoon or Apex and a fixed cheater above. This gets 5 different baits in the strike zone using 3 rods. Once the fish tell me what they want - or don't want, I change up the offerings. Just my $.02
  13. Just sent JAYRFRED a PM..... he posted first....
  14. A set of 2 Church Walleye Boards, 1 Starboard, 1 Port. Very good condition. $30 for the pair, I will pay shipping to your U.S. address.
  15. After reading SoSarrie's post, I also ordered from Outdoor pro shop. Great customer service.... I got a call from them a few hours after placing an internet order, informing me that they were out of stock on one lure color, asked if i would like to pick another color or short ship the order... also promised to e-mail me when the color I wanted was back in stock... shipped the order that day... no sales tax and free shipping for orders over $50. They have more colors and sizes of Apex lures than I have seen anywhere.. Jim
  16. I sort of stumbled upon this website and thought I would share.... http://w3.lre.usace.army.mil/hh/GreatLakesWaterLevels/GLWL-CurrentMonth-Feet.pdf
  17. I replace the trebbles with single hooks on my trolling spoons, and upgrade the stock hooks on minnow and crank baits to the stronger Owner ST-41 style. I now have a number of trebble hooks - many brand new that I don't use, and would like to pass them along to someone who can use them. 180 Hooks total: 50 pc. trebble, used with standard, NK-28 size spoon 30 pc. trebble, magnum size spoon 50 pc. trebbles, various smaller sizes, from minnow and crank baits, J-Plugs 50 pc. single siwash, various sizes from 2/0 to 5/0, some opened eye, some not. Make me a reasonable offer, and I'll get then out to you via US Postal Thanks, Jim S.
  18. Multiple lots of tackle, buyer picks up near Braddocks bay, or pays shipping. 19. I use the Cabela's 7/16 snaps rated at 35lbs, combined with the #10 Spro power swivel, also at 35lbs...... great combo for spring, then change out to the 9/16 snaps later in the year for the 'riggers
  20. Line Guy, The proposed marina entrance is just North of the ramps.
  21. As of Friday morning, ramp is open with one dock in. A few hundred yards of open water to the South, and a clear channel out to the lake.
  22. If you can get the measurements from the old gears, (outside diameter, hole size, and number of teeth), you could look online at the big industrial places like MSC, or Mc-Master Carr for a replacement gear. If the worn ones are blown away, get your dimensions from the good rigger.
  23. No letter here, but I did take a look at the launch area at Rochester Harbor today. The marina basin project is underway full tilt, but a section of road is open to the boat launch area. I was suprised to see how low the water is.... even the small boats like mine will run out of dock before the boat is off the trailer. Most of the shoreline ice is gone, and after next weeks projected warm forecast, we should be good to go in the Rochester basin area. Just my $.02
  24. I also tie on 1/4 inch tubing.... works great.
