  1. Furuno FCV620 for me. 2 seasons and lovin' it. Got my best price here....... http://www.hodgesmarine.com/FURUNO-FCV620-FISH-FINDER-p/furfcv620.htm Hodges will also buy your old electronics outright or take them in trade. I guess there is a big market for used stuff in Fla.
  2. You might want to explain about "the power of the internet" to your taxidermist. Poor customer service and bad news travels fast these days..... If he doesn't make good by you, let the board members here know who he is. I had a little "issue" with a marine dealership last spring and let them know I would share their poor customer service policies with thousands of boat owners on line........ things changed in a hurry..
  3. Got any pictures ????
  4. Boy do I miss this.......................
  5. Been on 5 RCCL cruises to the Caribbean and loved them all !! Going again in 2009. I can't help with fishing info but if you have time on Grand Caman you MUST take a boat to Stingray City. Swimming around in 4 ft. of water with a couple dozen wild southern stingrays is something you will never forget... You should be able to book a charter on the web....or book a trip from the RCCL shore excursion section of their website.
  6. Dave, I'll send you a PM with contact info. Thanks, Jim
  7. Billy, I bought my 620 from Hodges Marine. Good customer service and no sales tax... Jim S. Here's the link for the 585 http://www.hodgesmarine.com/FURUNO-FCV585-8-4-IN-FISH-FINDER-p/furfcv585.htm
  8. Selling 1993 Ariens snowblower, 2 stage, 5 H.P. Tecumseh snow king engine, electric start, tire chains. Intake size: 18" high by 24" wide. Well maintained, used but not abused..... $250 firm. Located in North Greece, N.Y. just West of Rochester. Thanks for looking Jim S.
  9. Tom, maybe we could work something out with this gentleman and ship both weights together to save him some $$$$................... Jim I just sent Vince a PM of this thread
  10. Vince, International shipping charges from New York to Canada would make this a very expensive weight for you.......
  11.
  12. Check with Howards Fabric & Foam on East Ridge Road.....

Tommy, stop by Bryce marine in Greece... he usually has a bunch of used props for sale. I use a "comp prop", composite plastic prop for a spare... brand new from Cabelas for $80. If you don't like it you can send it back no questions asked.

  15. I use Seguar Invis-X flouro. 20lb. on lead core and rigger rods, 12lb. in the spring off the boards. I use the flouro. line, not leader material..... comes in 200 yd. spools. Jim S.
  16. bobs_boy, Here's the link for deep water temp. off Rochester. "THE WATER TEMPERATURE OFF ROCHESTER IS...".... the temp. probe is approx. one mile off shore in 35-40 feet of water. The temp. at the probe was 54 degrees this morning, the weather buoy off shore was recording 3.6 ft. waves so me and my little 17 footer went back to bed........ http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/fmtbltn.pl?file=forecasts/marine/near_shore/lo/loz043.txt
  17. Lead core is very speed sensitive... a change in boat speed, wave action or direction will cause the lead core to rise and fall in the water column. The shorter the mono leader, the more rise and fall the lure has.... longer leaders will mean less vertical lure movement. I like the shorter ( 20-30ft ) leaders so my baits move up and down a bit. If I want to hold at an exact depth, I will run a long lead off a downrigger. Just my $.02 Jim S.
  18. Deep water temp. off Rochester at 6 AM was 54 degrees.......... at 11 AM it was 72 degrees........
  19. I bought 2 Scotty riggers from Cabela's 2 years also and they came with the Quick Draw rod holders. While making a fairly tight turn to port with both riggers down, the starboard rod holder opened up and came flying back into the boat and the rod almost took my buddy's head off. I super glued them shut but still didn't trust them. I installed a track system this spring so they are sitting in the basement collecting dust......free to good home if any one wants them Jim S.
  20. Great service from these guys.....bought my new Furuno 620 from them this spring for $668 (plus transducer) no sales tax. They will even buy your old electronics outright or give you store credit for new stuff. I'm sure I'll buy from them again. Jim S.
  21. My guess would be a hole or rip in the bellows or some other component under the waterline allowing water to fill the bilge. The boat became "stern heavy" allowing 2 ft. waves to come over the transom. Once the stern gets full, a roll over is almost inevitable. I fish alone out of a 17 footer and have put a LOT of thought into being safe. Self inflatable PFD's are a must on my boat. Hand held water proof VHF radio for backup, 2 big bilge pumps and 2 big batteries to run them. I can't even put into words the feeling I get when something like this happens to someone in our "family" http://www.docksidereports.com/small_boat_safety_at_sea.htm Jim S.
  22. Troll North/South across the current. Vary your top speed mid 2's to mid 3's take note of trolling direction and speed when a rod fires. You may need to change speed when you change direction. Good Luck! Jim S.
  23. try this for 26a's............................... http://www.lurenet.com/productdetail.aspx?id=B26AXSIL or this for all bombers............................... http://www.bomberlures.com/products.html#LongA 24a's and 25a's here............... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=31685&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I love the 25a's off the boards when the temps come up....
  24. Tom....just bite the bullet and get a Depth Raider...
