  1. Cornelis, I think I was the guy you waved to as you made the turn into Mayers. I was in the 21' Wellcraft just ahead of you. Sadly, I have nothing to report. 1st skunking of the year. Fished out to 380 with just 2 rods in the water. 1 good knockoff on the 90 foot rigger with a Dirty White Boy on it. After the best spring and early summer I have ever had, I am struggling the last 3 trips.

  3. That Riptide charter above looks real good. I like how he trailers closer to the fish and then can run after them quick when he is chasing the surface feeding fish. Looks like you are in for a long boat ride from several of the locations on the Cape if you are on a big boat and docked on the south side. Stellwagen Bank north of Provincetown is where they are all going this time of the year. I have a friend who lives on the Cape that I am waiting to hear from still.
  4. Dan Keating has 2 books that are very good. http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/store ... s_Book.htm I enjoyed them both. The DVD's also get you thru the long winter.
  5. Thanks everyone. Great advice on the schoolie tuna. Think we are going to do 5 hours of tuna and 5 hours of striped bass.
  6. Going to the Cape for October 3-6. Looking to do a striper charter. Anybody have any recommendations on who to use?
  7. Sorry to hear that, but it makes me feel a little better, at least. Amazing how as long as we fish, when we struggle a couple times in a row we start to question our own tactics. (Doesn't help when the crew turns on you like a pack of dobermans, either)
  8. I suppose every report is of some value, even if it is bad. In that vain, I can contribute. Fished off the Genny from 6-9:30 pm. Worked out the whole time and slowly got pushed east. Started in 80 and worked out to 230. 2 footers from the west that laid down to just a ripple. Beautiful sunset. (When you say that, it is a dead giveaway that the fishing sucked) Did 1 steelie on a sliding gator probably 60 over 160. No other releases on the wires or downriggers and the leadcore was dead. Lots of current and deep debris. Damn battery died on the fishhawk (that is a shocker...I gotta get that new x-4) so no report on the temps. 2 frustrating days this week after having some great success all summer. 3 other boats out in 200+, if you were one of them I would love to hear how you did. As it usually is when you are heading off to work, the lake was real flat this am.
  9. My post is unworthy of it's own topic. Fished with my nephew from 7-1:30 with only a skipper king to show. Worst day of my year so far. Trolled along with Upgrady for quite awhile to share my negative ions (It worked). Of course I bailed out just before he started to see a good screen and pull a few fish. Dirty White Boy down 70 was the only lure that took a fish. NO other releases even. Tough day.
  10. Just when I am starting to get some street cred my guest crew turns on me! The truth is, anybody can catch a fish when he has the loaded rod in his hand, it is the guy who grabs the wrong rod and ENTICES the fish onto the hook that is the real fisherman. I was merely leaving the thumping rod for the much slower and inexperienced crew to lamely reel in the defenseless, injured and hooked fish while I acted as the good host/captain and tried to facilitate a double. It didn't work, Hans booted the fish while Tom sat there like Nancy Kerrigan, wounded from an attack. I should have gone solo.....
  11. I will give it a try. My leaders do tend to be longer than the length of the slider. I usually start about 15-20 off the ball and adjust out, as needed. I rarely run them tighter and will try it.
  12. She has asked me to be home early and lay down by the pool side with ice cold drinks. ....and you went fishing? Anthony, you ARE a diehard fisherman.
  13. Gotta Bite, sliders have been the best presentation on my boat for 2 years. I estimate 60% of my fish come off them. At Wilson in the Spring Derby this year almost every fish I caught was on the free slider.
  14. Try wearing Crocs on your feet....even the flies don't like looking at those things!
  15. Shawn, just follow and search this site and you will be all set. Great group of people on this board and they everyone is willing to help.
  16. Great, thanks.
  17. I know you can use the 840 Head with the new X4s. Do you need a new transducer?
  18. Fished striaght out in front of I Bay 6:00 til 9 am. Had Upgrady and Tanya Harding, aka Tom, with me. Good start to the trip because Tanya managed to maneuver OVER the spring line and into the boat this week instead of doing a faceplant double axle twist onto my deck like last trip! 2-5 with a teenage king and a dink. Bigger fish was on leadcore with 10 colors out over 135. Dirty White Boy lure. Little one came on a NBK slider. Last couple days had things pretty mixed up. Fished out to 230 without much action. Lost a decent fish on the wire diver that broke north of the flasher. Hooked that while it was almost stalled out. That was green/green flasher fly. Southerly wind building to 2+. Best temps were down 50-60 for the most part. Hope to get out again tomorrow at some point.
  19. Damn, the expenses add up. They aren't sending the responses to our wives, are they?
  20. Thanks. Hoping to avoid re-spooling. lol
  21. Haven't been out for several weekends and plan to go this weekend. How are the fleas now?
  22. I am so jealous...haven't been out in almost 3 weeks!
  23. Nice to have you back, and thanks for the pics as I sat like a land lubber at a soccer game dreaming of being on the water!
  24. I don't have a track system, but I ordered Cisco's for my dipsey rod holders that mount to my arch and I couldn't be happier. Very well made, easy company to work with (I had a unique issue that I called them about) and immediate delivery. I would seriously check them out, worth the money.
