  1. For shark weight users....any color preference on Lake Ontario or is it like lure selection, every color has its day?
  2. Of course I was referring to the snow on the computer screen!
  3. Love the snow....This is Rochester and we might as well have it now, get it over with and get back on the Lake.
  4. Bill Mayer's marina shop looks like a graveyard for older motors. From what I hear he knows older outboards as well as anyone around. I would start by talking to him.
  5. One other thing...if you book through RCCL they guarantee you will get back on the boat...even if the charter has to bring you out to the departing ship. You don't get the same guarantee if you book on your own. That alone is worth the "risk" of taking an RCCL arranged excursion.
  6. I took RCCL to Cozumel and opted to do the "family" things because nobody wanted to fish with me. So no real help other than to tell you that everything we did, and heard from other guests, that was RCCL arranged was fantastic. I do not think you can go wrong if you book it through RCCL. Just my experience. Have a great trip. I would go again in a second.
  7. As a true pessimist...the fishing always seems best where you aren't.
  8. Thanks for the sites.
  9. Looking for an arch to put on a 21 foot Wellcraft. Want to have rocket launchers and cockpit lights across the top and a net holder and mount my planer reels on the sides. Atlantic Towers has a great product but I do not want the full depth (front to back) to mount a radar unit because it is just too bulky if not doing radar. Anyone have any ideas where to look?
  10. You will only try to launch 1 time with the tie downs still in place...but it is embarassing that 1 time. I get to a parking lot near the launch, out of the way, do my work and walk around the boat a couple times before I launch. A little mental checklist.
  11. "learn from successes and failures'...I got the failures covered after a miserable day. The only thing worse than not catching fish is not catching fish when everyone else is! One of those days where you start to convince yourself that the boat is throwing an electrical charge. Hans...just to make things worse I blew my only hook up of the day when the knot at the swivel gave out! Thanks for all your help..good teach, lousy student. I have to find out what I am doing wrong with flies. Despite everything I have read about them I just do not have success with them.
  12. Nice job skipper19! Appreciate the report. For us schmucks sitting at our desks it is nice to hear about some fun.
  13. Tom has been on one long fishing trip since May. Every other weekend he is off somewhere! I keep saying this...things should settle down for me pretty soon and I will fish more...but it hasn't happened yet. Would love to get out with you guys. I still have your number and will give you a call. Tom continues to remind me that it is my job to get us a place in the spring.
  14. Theory Number 2...Avoid Tug Boats! How the heck are ya Darren? Tom keeps threatening to call you and get you out...but he never follows thru.
  15. I have Scotty's and a Cannon. I prefer the Scotty's. Everything is accessible for dummy's like me to figure out and they are SUPER fast. This is kinda like blonde or brunette? Just preference when you get to these 2 quality brands.
  16. Now that we have the location established I will head out tomoorrow AM and scatter the fish for all! My boat tends to do that.
  17. I am just jealous seeing Anthony catch fish! Welcome to the fish chase and thanks for contributing info. (Both of you)
  18. Hans: Being the suspicious type that I am, I find it highly suspect that Pike Hunter has been "inadvertantly" providing innacurate posts? You better vouch for him quickly or a sea tribunal will be formed and the matter will be handled accordingly! I am looking for someone to blame my low trip/catch ratio on and your friend has just provided the perfect out....I have been in the wrong darn place! (Man, I get stir crazy sitting at this desk some days ) )
  19. Just as a follow up...my Johnson is not a 4 stroke. Nice to see others who have 4 strokes and can troll with them. Avoiding the expense and space for a trolling motor is very nice.
  20. I have a 1995 Wellcraft 210 with Johnson 150 and Honda 9.9. Trolled for 2 years with the Johnson and it would troll down to speed but smoky and chugged. Just too noisy, smelly, and uneconomical. Went to the Honda and would HIGHLY rec. it. Extremely quiet, cheap on gas (runs on pennies all day) and almost maintenance free. I would never dream of trolling with a bigger motor again, the $$$ for the kicker makes it a much more enjoyable troll. The Johnson cruises at 32mph with no problem and the single big motor leaves plenty of room for kicker and 3 riggers. As for the comparison between the OMC and Johnson, I can only say I have been happy with my Johnson. (That sounds pornographic)
  21. I get out whenever I can...but it seems I have had real good luck in the evenings. Seems like just before dark has yielded some real big fish.
  22. Sounds awesome....you will have that memory for a long time. People who don't salmon fish just won't understand the chaos.
  23. 1995 Johnson 150 that is making a horrendous noise when starting. In Rochester, does anyone have recomendation of someone that can come to the boat and repair. Thanks.
  24. Fished straight out in 180'-200' from 4:30 til 8ish. Marked some good bait and temp in the 80'-100' down range. 18lb. king caught 90 down over 195 on an NK Frog. Also pulled another on an R&R Watermelon. Had several other knock offs with nobody home. Lots of current and fleas. Beautiful night and the fish were there. Thanks to fellow board member Upgrady for the advice. As always he was very helpful and was willing to give a few tips.
  25. Didn't mean to offend anyone and I hope he heals quick and well.
