  1. It was said as a joke....
  2. 1 more trip to Buffalo for soccer today and then things should really open up for awhile. Translation....everybody should get out fishing now because it will be changing soon if I get out there!
  3. Don't forget to factor in Ray's personal injury claim against you.....boat may have to wait longer.
  4. Hans....do like I do and avoid fish guts and slime and it really helps keep spiders, flies and other creatures away. Also, the less fish you catch the fewer people call and ask to go fishing with me!
  5. Glad you had some luck Hans. I have been down in Atlantic City for a soccer tournament since Friday. I can only dream of fishing for the next couple of weeks....
  6. Hey, Two Nets, didn't know you knew how to use one of these newfangled computin machines! Hope all is well. Took Tom out for the the skunkin friday. Of course I blamed it all on him. Even asked him if you would ever consider gracing my boat with your presence? Say Hi to Dad and Bill.
  7. I should have listened to my wise friend Hans and saved the gas!
  8. 1st skunk of the year. Fished 8-11 am from 100ft to 270ft without so much as a knockoff. Marked 3 fish all morning. Scum line ran north/south and a wicked current. Very disappointing.
  9. Don't do it unless you are willing to pay the fine (or your salesman is). I know people that don't register trailers every year....works fine until you get caught! I have prosecuted and defended people for over 20 years and the comment above about raising revenues has never been truer than now. No such thing as a wink and a pass anymore. We won't even talk about the potential civil liability if someone gets hurt when you are towing the oversized rig without a permit.
  10. Same problem at the bar in early May. Friend told me to try turning hard when that was hapening and it worked. First couple times it felt stupid but became alot less concerned about what we looked like when we were fighting fish. Probably 90% of my fish up there came on either gradual turns or sharp turns when they were streaking to the lure. Cohos on the outside and kings on the insides. Good Luck.
  11. Thanks for the info...glad you had a good day. I was probably running spoons that were too big. Our cheaters were the ticket also, just couldn't keep them hooked up. Nice to see there are some good fish out here.
  12. Off Track I was out there too. I did a king and a coho in about 3 hours. 2 other real good knock offs and lost another after a 2 minute fight. Was pretty slow. Tough to read these great reports when I didn't see much action or marks.
  13. The winner of the salmon division (who lead the overall for 5 days) was caught on a stickbait. Not something I ever do, but looks like it may be worth it? He said he just through it out because not much else was working.
  14. Both versions are correct...I fished the 6th thru the 11th. Early week was slow but we pounded them on Friday. 77 fish between two small rec boats. Fair amount of cohos but some decent kings in there too. Water temp is now up and fish are active. Started week at 43 degrees and finished at 48, before the NE blow on Sat. morning.
  15. Rented cottage in Wilson from May 6-13th. First time out west and it can't come soon enough!
  16. Great looking fish! Looks Nice way to start off a beautiful weekend.
  17. At one time I enjoyed the prep work that went with owning a boat each spring. Then I discovered salmon trolling! Now I fret every minute that I am not in the water this time of year. For the first time in a long time I was able to wash and wax the boat in nice weather and still have hopes of getting in the water for the early bite. (some years I have just skipped the prep and hit the water constantly lying to myself that I would pull the boat and do the maintenance later) Waxing sure beats the hell out of these out of shape arms. For everyone else that spent the weekend prepping...I hope you see the water soon.
  18. There was an article in the paper the other day. There are no plans to dredge and there is no money set aside. Being a non commercial port it will be WAY down the priority list. The Steven B. Roman hit bottom in the Genesee mouth and there are no dredging plans there, either. A 1 commercial boat harbor doesn't get much respect on the National dredging list.
  19. I bought the 2nds. a couple years back. A few VERY MINOR paint blemishes. They were a great deal.
  20. I have the Otters and they are great. Never had them dive in 3 years, even when fishing in close and in breaking waves. They are super buoyant and the water runs right off them. Once in awhile it will speed up on the back side of a wave and put a little pressure on the lines, but not even enough to cause a release. I really love them and would never go back.
  21. I used manuals for years and switched to Scotty Electrics last year and it was the best investment on my boat. Aside from the upgrade to electric, the Scotty is a very simple design and real easy to maintain and repair if something were to go wrong. Most moving parts are easy to get to and easy to replace. The adjustable clutch provides for a smooth and very fast descent.
  22. I promisied myself all winter I would save my money for my first trip to Wilson this spring. Rented a cottage for a week and figured there will be lots of money spent then. In a moment of weakness I ordered a couple of the new Accudepths. Can't wait to see them. Winter is getting long now.
  23. Thanks, thought I was losing my mind. Cabin Fever, I guess.
  24. I know there was a recent disussion about these, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Can someone point me to it?
  25. Attorney. Personal Injury litigation. 13 years as an Assistant District Attorney before private practice. Fortunately, all my friends tell me I don't "act" like an attorney until I need to.
