  1. Few years back I was about 5 miles off Irondequoit Bay and saw a deer swimming North. Someone in the area called the Coast Guard and the response was a gentle reminder that the fittest shall survive.
  2. Damn, looks like a real nice job. Enjoy!
  3. Fishing Key West was interesting with the Coast Guard running patrols a few miles out and the fairly steady air presence. My Captain was stopped last week because he runs around alot at high speed chasing the fish and had purchased a new boat the Coasties were not familiar with. I personally took a burn to the large number of expensive vehicles parked at the Border Patrol on Pattonwood Drive. Before going off half cocked I asked around, and to a man, the local law enforcement people I talked to said the BP is VERY helpful in the Rochester area, are more than willing to pitch in, serve a valuable purpose and are involved in every investigation that involves a non-citizen arrest or contact. Not sure it explains the need for expensive vehicles, but very glad to hear they are so helpful to our locals. Sadly, we live in this era.
  4. Totally jealous- Have a great time! If you go to Teasers-tell Jane I miss her already.
  5. Can't disagree with you about Teasers... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  6. Couldn't make it all winter without fishing so made a trip to Key West with some friends for a little fishing. Solid 15-20 knot winds from SW made for bumpy ride but perfect sailfishing waves. [/url [/url Total, we caught 4 Sailfish, 3 Black Fin Tuna, a Bonito, a Wahoo, a Barricuda, and a Mackeral. A local restaurant prepared the tuna for us that went real well with some local brewed beer. A GREAT trip.
  7. Thanks, I appreciate the response. It would be one state agency(DEC) commenting on another state agency(NYPA) so I am quite sure there would be a non-answer response, even if they did feel strongly about the topic.
  8. Had to leave the State of the Lake in Rochester at "halftime". Can any of the attendees please let me know if there was ever any mention or discussion of wind turbines at the meeting?
  9. Just had one done at Jay Vee last week and it feels great and price was right.
  10. For my Dipseys I run the Sealines and personally think the extra money is well worth it. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Hans, I think i see your brother doing the "fish dance" on the stern...
  12. If memory serves me correct they are called "clippers" or "klippers". I have some but there is nothing written on mine either.
  13. Awesome! Thanks. Doing 4 days fishing in Key West at end of March and I need pics like this to get me through....
  14. Thanks Tim, I am glad I asked about the cable. Coming into possession of a new-to-me boat but wont have it out of the water until next fall if I was so inclined to put a transducer on. I don't want to go all season without temp/speed so I will be getting one of these.
  15. Comparing the Depth Raider to the Moor Subtroll. I really would like a transducerless unit and if I am not mistaken it looks like the Depth Raider has a coated cable and the Moor does not. Is that correct? What kind of depth are you Moor people getting from your unit on Lake Ontario before you lose signal?
  16. I am heading down there in March. Gotta tell you, I envisioned it a lot different than Ray's photo's!!!!
  17. As we sit in the winter boredom with an impending snowstorm I am daydreaming and have a chance to put up some pictures of my summer trip to Alaska. We attended the Kenai Fishing Academy for a week. This is an abbreviated version of what all Kenai River guides must take to be certified on the river. They say it is the most regulated body of water in the world, and I believe it!. As part of the trip we did a flyout to a remote lake for Lakers and Dolly Varden. That was my first ever attempt at fly fishing and I must say I really enjoyed it. Caught so many Dolly Varden that we couldn't keep count. This was a view from the plane that we took on the way over to the lake. I took over 600 pictures while there. Fished the Kenai for kings one day and booted a good one at the stern. Guide said it was approx. 50 lbs. Damn! Halibut fishing was another great day with flat water but never did locate the big ones. Nevertheless, lots of good eatin was brought home. Highlight of the trip was drift fishing in the upper Kenai with a guide named Paul Tornow. This guy was great and was the most enthusiastic charter I have ever used. Every fish caught he was as excited as us. Really got the beginners lesson on fly fishing and he was a great teacher. I caught several fish on a 2 weight rod and he made me feel like a pro. If you ever make a trip up there, I highly recommend Paul as a Kenai River fishing guide. http://alaskasanglingaddiction.com I really enjoyed the trip and will go back again someday. I have lots of places I still want to visit and types of fish to catch yet.
  18. I am registered along with 2 guys I fish with. We are looking forward to it.
  19. Anthony, congrats on a great looking trip. Nice way to start the year.
  20. Sorry, no coffee yet- Daiwa Saltist reel from A-Tom-ik.
  21. Tekota reel filled with copper from Atomik! Can't wait to use it, seems like a real nice setup.
  22. Reminds me of a true story. 2 old nuns in NYC had a stray dog they befriended die. They lived downtown and had no money to have him disposed of in the city so they put him in a suitcase and got on a subway to get to a train and take him to the "country house" for a proper burial. While approaching a stop a thief grabbed the suitcase and ran off. Can you imagine the shock when he opened the suitcase stolen from two fully decked out nuns to find a dead dog? Probably not heading to any catholic confessional soon either....
