I've got a used Easy Steer setup, outboard to outboard, which I bought used for $100. Not using it at the present, and would sell the works for $100.

I've got a pair of consoles and walkthru windshield I pulled out of a late 80's Smoker Craft I'm converting to tiller steer. The right console still has the steering wheel and box. If you have a project and can use them, they are free for the pickup, in PA just south of Binghamton.

Trolling Bags vs. Plates
Shellback replied to Skunk'd Too's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Buckets are fine if you are on a budget, but I like the heavy canvas trolling bags. They roll up and you can stuff them in out of the way places. I've got an 18 footer and don't need to be tripping over the buckets. -
Could be a good idea, but that rope going down the sides and under the boat is going to damage the paint on an aluminum boat in time. Plus when you want to come about and troll back with the wind, will the boat handle well running with the wind, or will you have to pull the bags or redeploy them in the regular manor?

vertical cowbells
Shellback replied to rusty1034's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I haven't done it in a few years, but I used to clip a large set of Cowbells to the ball, and then a pinchpad release on the end of the cowbell, then run a short lead to the spoon. Using the Cowbell as an attractor seemed to work for the lakers on Owasco. -
If you have purchased a NY license since they went to the computer issued license, you can purchase online. The computer licensing is refered to as DECALS. Check out their website for info. If any of your party hasn't used the decal system, they probably have to purchase over the counter. The Gander Mtn Ray mentioned, is in Cicero, NY, just north of Syracuse, and you can see the store from I-81, if you are heading south it's just before the exit on your left. Going north you will have missed the exit before seeing it. Also I think all the Walmarts have them, and many Super Centers are open 24 hours.

Not sure if you are using braided line or not, but they can be a little tougher to use with a pinchpad release. I think they recommend running the line thru the pad, around the outside of the clip, and back thru the pad a second time.

The wire tends to show wear and acquire kinks near the ball. I'd say you just had some tough luck. Cannon sells a nice terminator kit with the snap swivel to repair the end. I'd either pull 6 or 8 feet of cable off and put a new end on, or you could pull all the cable off, and rewind it from the other end. As far releases, I like the Black's, they are adjustable tension so you can set them how you like, for the fish you are targeting.

1990 Sea Nymph 15' Jon boat with trailer, F/F, nav lights and a fish box. This was my river and small lake boat, but I've bought a larger project boat. The motor is a 1989 Yamaha 9.9 four stroke Sail motor, 25" shaft, high thrust and electric start with charging. The Yamaha was used as a kicker on a previous boat and served double duty as power for the Jon. The transom height on the boat is only 15"s, but I made a bracket to mount the motor at the correct height. Kind of looks stupid, but serves the purpose. If anyone is looking for a 4 stroke kicker with a Jon boat to fish the small waters, here it is for $1400.00. I will consider selling the boat and trailer separate first, then the motor, but I will not sell the motor before the boat is sold. I'll send a couple pictures if requested. The boat is located just south of Binghamton, in PA.

West Marine sells a 1' and a 50" extension, $36.00 a piece! Maybe you could check out schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings at a plumbing supply and piece something together.

The US Navy announced today that their newest guided missle destroyer would be named after Jason Dunham of Scio,NY. The Marine was awarded the Medal of Honor after giving his life in Iraq. God Speed and Smooth sailing to the USS Jason Dunham.

I've converted from remote to tiller steering, so I imagine you could do opposite. What motor are you taking about?

I've got a pair of 25 degree gimbal mounts, they have a 6"x 6" plate on the top. They would have to be drilled for your Penn bolt pattern. $60.00 for the pair. I'm heading south for a week 4:00 AM tomorrow, so if your interested, you could PM me and I'll get back to you when I get home.

Why not grab that pair of Cannon Mag 10's on the swap board? Two riggers for the price of one new Walker, and they'll still be worth the $300 when you want to upgrade.

I noticed you said the top of your backet is 24"s above the waterline, and that a longshaft kicker would put your cavitation plate 1" below the waterline. That would work out to a 25" shaft, which is usually refered to an extralong shaft, or a sail motor. A normal longshaft motor is 20"s between the top of the bracket and the cav plate. I have a Yamaha 9.9 Sail motor, and it's a 25" shaft

It's a fountain pen, they have been pretty much history since the ballpoint pen came out. Bet they don't have ink wells in school desks anymore!

Just happened to notice something on the LOU Pledge banner on the left side of the screen. How many people recognize and have used the writing implement pictured?

Yea, it seems like new boats are getting top dollar, but go and try to sell your used boat at a reasonable figure. Everybody wants to steal your used boat. Speaking of Fishmaster 19's, I think there been one on GLangler for quite awhile. Very nice looking late model boat with a Honda on it. Wish it was for sale when I bought my boat.

Taughannock and Cayuga State parks both have camping, opposite side of the lake though. Looks like Long Point is halfway between the 2 parks, but I couldn't guess how far a drive it would be around the lake to Long Point.

What Stinger said is correct, but keep in mind that it's 6 amps running at higher speeds. At a low troll speed the output could be quite a bit less. With the dual battery switch, I'd keep my starting battery off line till I need it to start the big motor. Wouldn't want to run my electronics, D/Rs all day figuring the kicker alternator was keeping my main battery up.

Just when it looked like some progress was being made, seems to have lost what they gained. Some little weasel getting his rocks off destroying a website enjoyed by many! Keelhaul the SOB.

Unfortunately if anyone is trying to log on using their old favorites button, they are going to get the message site unavailable or something to that effect. You may want to send out an email alerting folks to log on using www.lakeontariounited.com and then reseting favorites. If you were in the old forums when you set favorites, it may have used www.lakeontariounited.com with a slash and forums, which doesn't work now. By the way, the new site looks Great!

A question or the Bert's holders. Does the rachet hold them them from going down once you select the desired position, but allow them to pull straight up freely? Or do you have to push or pull a button to pull them straight up? Thanks.
