    What I found my problem to be is I didn't have a battery switch on my boat and wired it to my fuse block. In that case even when my GPS unit was turned off my puck was still getting power 24 7. Now have everything on it's own switch and installed a battery switch as well. All been good for 7 yrs now (knock on wood).

    Had the same issue a few years back. Lowrance did have a replacement part. Replaced mine with the LGC-4000 and works great.

    No problem here and my comp. is almost as old as me.

    You want it nice and tight. What I did was use a long screwdriver. I put it through a tennis ball then put on the spool and then another tennis ball then clamped it in a vise.

    Not sure about a 8hp but my 25 had a clip top side under the motor where it comes through the case.

    I run two of the same reels with a 1000' and fills the reel with no backing.

    I attached the protractor to the square pc. of wood and used a cotter pin as the pendulum. Align the left or right edge of wood with the cable and pendulum will tell you the angle

    You have the chart above. Easy to make one. Square pc. of wood with a protractor attached. Put a pendulum at the top. Align the edge of the wood with the cable and the pendulum will give you the angle.

    try squeezing a little in a pair of channel lock pliers to make it just a little out of round. Don't over do it just a little.

    Hear that. Going new all the way with mine. Never again for me that's for sure.

    Going through that now. Bought a salt water boat with only 600hrs. State of the art flushing system. Now replacing the motor in whole from internal rust. I'd never do it again. Just my opinion.
