Bobber..........this is one of those Chevy vs Ford topics. We can all justify why we use a snubber or not. You'll have to decide what works best for you. Try running a snubber on one dipsey and one without a snubber for at least 5 trips and then decide what you want to do. I've switched back and forth several times and what I've come up with is that I think a snubber is best used in the spring when the lakers are real aggressive and on steroids. Later in the season when the water starts to warm they just don't have the head shaking impact like in the spring. I ditto the "sharp hooks" comment also. You'll know your hooks are sharp enough when you occasionally hook a fish on the side of it's head (foul hook ) when they hit your offering from the side. These are what I use and have been vary satisified with them,... 12" clear. Stiff but yet enough stretch to take the shock. Besides online I think you can get them at Gander Mtn. http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/store ... nubber.htm http://www.tackletheoutdoors.com/Tackle ... roductName

Andy, you get a big for your win. Great time had by all that played. My catch was a little embarrasing to have on the scales and it shows me that I have some work to do. I think we placed 35th out of the 33 boats entered. We'll try again next year for sure. Thanks Split for Chairing this event again this year.

You are posting in the 3rd Annual LOU-All. Try this link for the 5th Annual and the dates should work a little better. > viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25023

I'm in with Lil' Buddy this year. With a 3 man crew how many lines can I have? How about the rest of my crew..... I like RR suggestion

Thanks for the tip Sean. I was wondering how long it was going to be before you let the cat out of the bag.....think my luck will improve if I try one of these?

Thanks for the fix. I was in Baltimore the last 5 days for a wedding so fishing wasn't on my list of things to do. Besides reading this report the closest I got to fishing was eating crab cakes,...lots

Ditto Stoutner. Seen better days. Got a few fish and kept one for dinner. I wasn't smart enough to finish my day near Long Point so getting back there from above Levanna took awhile with the no wake restriction . It was like dragging 1k lb weight behind the boat.

I googled up DTR diesel and got this...> http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/

Thanks PK for your post. Because of this thread I was made aware of the Dodge/Cummings. Come to find out a subcontractor that works for me has a `07 Ram/ cummings V6-5.9L and pulls a tool and material trailer. He gets pretty much the same milage towing as you are saying,.... (18 town- 21 highway). I've been pretty much Ford guy for years but that may change if the Ram Cummings is the only real game in town. Thanks again for posting.

Wow, what a beauty. How old do you think that fish is?

I didn't make it out yesterday but reading your report is the next best thing. Thanks for sharing I see you sucked Anthony into manning the 600' copper. Wonder if he'll do that again. Better save some friends for tournament days or you'll have to do that yourself.

Yo,...Rat. I'm working tomorrow but planning on fishing Sunday. Could you give us a little State of the Lake report? Thanks

I know. ...it's kinda like the new NYS license plates,... right?

Now your talkin' . Just the ticket to haul the marina I want to launch my boat at.
-
@ $75.00 a ticket for "More than 2 Lines" (I speek from experience) , it would be a lot cheaper to buy a couple stamps at 10 bucks each to run extra lines. You spend $10 for a chance to get a Doe tag and that's on a lottery system. .....and besides. I'm not putting any ideas in Albany's head......They are waaay ahead of us when it comes to ways to levy fees thank you vary much.

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I felt that I’d get real world info that I wouldn’t see elsewhere. Some of the stuff I knew already but I needed to hear it from someone else and most is new stuff to me. The heads up that Has Been posted was pretty interesting. I watched all the videos Ford had on their site about the Eco-Boost engine. Great production and the audio was amazing in surround sound. Made me want to run out and buy one,......but not today. Pretty pricy. We’ll have to give it some time to prove itself. Thanks H B. I agree with the consensus that the payment book or the higher price for diesel fuel & additives will quickly erode any savings in higher MPG. Both my vehicles are paid for, (also `08 Explorer V6 195 hp) and get the same milage while towing but I may be forced into giving up the van within the year so that is why I’m starting to look for a replacement. Thanks for the input so far.
-
....how about a $10.00 stamp for each additional line? That will get their attention and few more bucks.

Well I'm toying around with investing in a new tow vehicle. My boat is a 19' glass hardtop on a tandem axle trailer weighing 4600+ lbs total that I usually pull 160 to 220 miles round trip. Presently I have a Ford 2001, E-250 5.4L (330 cid) using regular gas w/extended wheel base pulling that boat & trailer and average 11 mpg. I would like to find something that would be a little more efficient and boost my average mpg. I’m not sold on any particular truck (van, SUV, pickup, etc) to replace the van. Better efficiency is primary and utility is secondary. I wanted to check in with you guys to see if you have something I should check out. Your actual usage and experience is what I’m looking for. Thanks for any info. I feel my best shot at good info will come from my brothers of the lodge , not some propaganda that the manufactures try to pawn off on us.

They can be caught in Oneida Lake. We catch them while trolling for walleye even though we don't target them. Fun fish to catch even though we throw them back,...good fight.

Every time I read this topic I get frosted Sean . Yamaha may have gotten another $6,100.00 out of you but they lost THOUSANDS from us little guys. Even if they make things right with you now after all the negative press the $6100.00 is going to be a drop in the bucket. It is far cheaper to keep a good customer than what it costs to advertise to get new ones. Especially to overcome the negative effects of the hassle they are giving you in this down economy. I wonder if they would have the gonads to give their side of the story in this forum? OK, now it's time to go FISH. Good luck with the new power head.
