  1. Do a search for this topic. It's been kicked around several times since January. Lots of good Info. Also, for all the nay-sayers out there.....http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20 ... +s+the+law
  2. This post belongs here also>.......... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16696
  3. .......who said anything about people?
  4. Red first turns brown then black by about 30' and is the first color out of the spectrum under water. http://www.educatedangler.com/index.php ... cle&id=921
  5. I thought that this would be of interest to a lot of you. Hope this helps with some of the confusion. http://www.seaworthy-digital.com/seawor ... friend#pg9
  6. Gill,....I installed one similar to this>......http://www.amazon.com/Drainzit-Oil-Drai ... B000PDN3HY ..........in my old boat and never went thru that drudgery ever again. The hose just slipped out the transom drain hole and drained all the crud from the bottom of the pan every time. If this type of system will work for you, google "oil pan drain hose". Just find the right size that fits your drain plug and will go thru the transom drain hole.
  7. Wow,.....those BJ's really blow ..............some fuses at 28 amps! . .... ..... .... .... One way to get 6, 8 or 10 gauge wire without spending a fortune is to use jumper cables. Look around at the auto parts stores and get a good set with stranded copper wire. The nice part about using them is that the wire is flexible . Just use the appropriate ends to terminate. I used a 8 gauge jumper cable to run power from my battery switch to a power distribution panel that I added to the starboard side of the boat to power my riggers, kicker and other electrical needs on that side. Works great. From there I used goingagain2's tip to the riggers.
  8. A PFD is a absolute must. The air temps may go into the 60's but the water temp is under 40 deg. Be safe & enjoy. Be sure to read this and then watch the video at the bottom of the page before you hook up your boat>....viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16060...
  9. ....exactly. Jeff you've got everyone jealous now and it's not about the fish you are catching.
  10. There are a awful lot of fish caught tight to the ball. How about less than 2' behind a dodger or flasher and all the noise they make? I not so sure that the cable music is a detrimet. The cable Hum-m-m-m is probably more irritating to the fishermen than the fish. That's my

  12. Thanks for the reminder. That is one fishing tip that everyone should thoroughly understand.
  13. Although the best in-hull performance would be in a glass boat it will also work as L&M says. This product is available and do-able. http://www.airmartechnology.com/airmar2 ... &PageNo=99 Airmar makes them for Furuno and other sonar mfgs: http://www.hodgesmarine.com/Furuno-520- ... 20-ihd.htm
  14. To bad Dave doesn't make sticks. That would help those top lines out.
  15. I like Big Jon's. Used a couple other brands on other peoples boats but went with 2 big Jon's back in 1991 and stayed with them ever since. Added 2 more in 2002 because they fit my new boat well and other than replacing a motor on one (warranty) they have been pretty trouble free. I’m still using all four with the `91 pair being my inboard riggers are the primary ones meaning they go in first. I really don't have problems with the speed. I only run 10# & 12# balls an rarely go beyond 100' so speed isn't a issue with me. Just got used to retrieving while fighting fish or bring in lines. I see that some don’t like the tilt up booms but to each his own. I don’t use the tilt up feature to set lines. I don’t like that either but I do use 2 riggers as power planers board masts in the spring & fall by moving a set forward on the gunnels and raising the boom up like so:.....> I'm sure owners of other brands have similar stories but BJ’s ( ) have been good to me and after 19 years of reliable continued service why wouldn’t I stay with them? BTW, I drive & own Fords since the `70's
  16. You should do well with the same 8" flashers, dodgers & flies as used on lake Ontario. I've run the smaller dodger/peanut flies with out much success but to be honest I really haven't run them much. You should get all the current info you want about size & color by just reading the posts in the Finger Lakes section.
  17. OS,.....your problem could be a trim tab adjustment on your main engine. That is easy enough to check out and correct if that is the problem. Also here is a link to a autopilot topic that touches a little bit on what could be a cause of your problem if it turns out to be a worn steering cable. I went into some detail of my thoughts of autopilot use and cable steering systems in the second paragraph. I just pulled my boat out of storage yesterday and having a new Telflex BayStar steering system installed by my dealer on Monday. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=15167&start=15
  18. Dave is going to be mad if he catches you using those spoons you have out on the rigger board.
  19. I definitely like the bill as submitted by Senator Libous. This bill shows no favoritism to any one group or location. Here is a summary: Hope this moves along quickly.
  20. Be carefull rubbing perperation-H on your 11" flashers,.... they may end up 8"ers. . Sorry, I couldn't help myself
  21. Thanks for your field report Matt. I still haven't made a purchase yet but will need to by mid March. Boat will be coming out of storage and into the shop for a new steering system and autopilot.
  22. Bill, Just curious, seen as you already had the Sharks why did you switch? Was it a performance issue?
  23. Well you got my attention with that Topic gumba. I thought that you were selling lottery tickets to the Italian Power Ball so I opened this up. Looks like you already have a winner there with that drawing. Nice job.
  24. Congratulations Shade'. Good luck with your new-to-you boat. Having a little sweat equity in him will make your first boat that much more enjoyable. Maybe you could have a little “Name the Boat†contest with your family & friends and the winner could get a day out on the lake with you. Could be a lot of fun. Maybe your dad could give you a few tips on jigging up some lake trout. Don’t need to spend much money on equipment and you can catch some mighty nice fish on Cayuga doing that. If you do a search here for jigging lake trout you'll get a pretty good heads up on what to do. Again, congratulations. Be safe and take your dad fishing every now & then if he behaves himself.
  25. I don't know. Pretty porky for a LL that short.
