I have a Mercury 9.9 2006 tiller electric start and it has a hose from the primer bulb to the lower front of the carb. In one of the YouTube videos (....... )..............the mechanic mentions that there are some Yamaha's out there ( @ 4:55 into the vid) that don't have a primer tube. Maybe someone replaced the Mercury carb with Yamaha carb? Just a thought. The primer bulb is definetly a asset to have in cold weather.

For me I've found that the Cortland FleaFlicker works the best. Tried 30lb mono, forget it. Blood Run flea line, about the same as 30lb mono. Guys piss and moan about the Cortland line but it works the best (IMO). Vary little attachments yesterday on the line while my rigger cables did pick some up. Cortland stopped making it but if you can get your hands on some try it. Come flea season I just overlay about 130' of FleaFlicker on my normal mono line and add 10'-12' of leader. Come Sept/Oct when the fleas disappear I just strip the fleaflicker off. No need to respool.

Dave puts a additive in the minnow tanks that make the minnows taste like "chicken".

I think you'll find that you'll be able to anticipate the temp changes at times on the finger lakes when there is a sustained north or south wind. Say if the wind is out of the north for a day or two the warmer surface water will be pushed south and colder water from below will replace the surface void on the north end. Water will be most dense at about 38 degrees. Anything colder or warmer will be less dense and rise absent of any other forces in the water columns. Watch the weather trends a couple days in advance of were you are going to fish if fishing surface water temp is your thing. Using a down Speed & Temp probe will be more helpful for subsurface temp and a faster way to target specific temperatures. Now after that just grab your tackle and go fishing.

If the engine is pulling to one direction while on plane then probably your trim tab needs to be adjusted to counter the torque of the prop. The sacrificial trim tab zinc can be turned to accomplished that.

Changing oil on kicker while boats in the water
stinger replied to Bustersit's topic in This Old Boat
I would say yes but..... The lower unit oil is much thicker than warm engine oil do the vacuum would have to be higher and the oil will flow slow but should be doable. You size down the tubing to the size that will fit into the vent hole. Smaller ID tubing slower flow. Pump it up and go do something else for awhile while it sucks out the oil. -

These extractors work great and will make that job easy. You'll never hesitate changing fluids once you use it. https://www.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-24389-Extractor-Overflow-Dipstick/dp/B00LCEWR4A/ref=pd_rhf_ee_p_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=SNHT7BHZTW14T0C7A8PN -

This may help in your wire selection. Running from a fuse panel will work. The length of the wire run will also enter into the equation so if you have long runs from the power source (fuse panel, battery etc.) check to see what is recommended but you don't have to be direct to a battery. Basically the only difference from model to model is the mounting bracket that holds the servo to control the throttle. Pretty simple at the engine end of the system. You just need to align the servo so it can pull the throttle.

All good advice. Many options to think about. My ONE cents is to hook the autopilot to the main and connect kicker with a ( Panther quick disconnect) connecting rod. The autopilot can be used for both trolling and cruising. If your electronics are compatible with your autopilot then you also have the ability to chart courses and navigate (cruising or trolling) with your GPS chart plotter waypoints. Connecting to your main is the best of both worlds. I installed a Raymarine unit this summer and it cost me about $2K by the time I was done and that included all the fittings and lines which included upgrading the main lines from the helm to the main engine. Got it for $1,692.86 delivered to my door. I changed the main hydraulic lines on recommendation by Raymarine Tech because I have a BayStar helm.

Ditto everything that Frogger said. Especially "Hank ( L&M) on here is a great resource as well for install needs."
