  3. Kevin, observers are randomly assigned swapped at the captains meeting between boats (of similar size to the extent possible) and they are with the same other boat for the entire tournament, so the observer of the team you are randomly assigned to goes to your team's boat. They aren't on different boats each day. The observers job is to do exactly that, observe. you cannot help with the fishing in any way, you make sure the team plays by the rules and you record the fish caught on the official score sheet, including the exact GPS coordinates species and approximate size of the fish. Since the tournaments are no cull, all tournament legal fish must be kept. If a borderline size fish is caught, you have to make sure the fish is measured before they toss it back. That's about it, it is a great learning experience. Tim
  4. Well, we finally filled up the room on Friday, so the Best Chance Too Seminar is Sold Out. We filled all of the available tables/booths for the Expo a while back, so we'll have a full room of Exhibitors on Sunday as well. You can see who all is going to be there at the Expo by going to the LOTSA website and clicking on the 2010 LOTSA EXPO/FLEA MARKET button in the middle of the home page. Exhibitors are under the Expo Participants tab at the bottom of the EXPO page. See you all at the show. Tim

  8. no..... it isn't. In this neck of the woods, being a dolphoons fan is an unforgivable sin Tim
  9. OK Rob, I just lost ALL respect for you Tim
  10. Larry, Don't get me wrong I love my Simrad AP14R and when I bought mine 3 years ago, the Customer Service Department was absolutely great and seper helpful when I had to order a bezel kit. The ownership has changed since I bought mine, to Navico and from everything I've heard, the quality at the Customer Service Dept there now sounds a lot like the many horror stories you hear about the CSD at Lowrance. As a former Sportpilot+ owner, I still think the Simrad is far and away, the best cable steered AP on the market, but it is a major investment to have crappy CS if you need help. Tim
  11. Simrad is now part of Navico, the same wonderful customer service mavens that own Lowrance Tim
  12. Or at least use the SCHWARTZ!! tIM
  13. Excellent. Adam, you reading this Tim
  14. Hi Vince, Welcome to LOU. Tim
  15. Diversion (Adam) on here also has a 245 and after seeing the Simrad AP14 operate on my Thompson, I believe he took some measurements and determined that he did not have the necessary clearance behind his helm for the Simrad. Tim
  16. I would be concerned about the strength of such a set up, unless you strictly use it just for rod storage. We run our copper down the chute with a pike ball out of the launcher on our hard top and it puts a heck of a lot of stress on the holders, especially with a fish on. I'd hate to se the bimini poles fold under the pressure and the rod end up in the drink. Tim
  17. yeah, what seasquirrel said. Tim
  18. bluewater, the HJ is the designation for the husky-jerk line of rapalas. Tim
  19. bluewater, the J in the size means jointed, straight rapalas have an F prefix (for floating). Tim ps Smithwicks kick serious butt in a good mudline.
  20. For what it's worth, since he's been in office, Sen Maziarz has always been one of the Sportsmen's best friends in Albany. Definitely count him as one of the good guys. Tim

  24. Here you go Howie http://www.divshare.com/download/8923545-789 Tim
  25. I don't think it makes a lick of difference. I used camo in the past , switched to the bright malin 30 lb wire a number of years ago and caught even more, and I like the malin wire more by a wide margin. Use whatever wire line you want, wire divers just flat out catch fish. Tim
